Hello, bros, what’s up?

Before I go to the topic, I want to say thank you to everyone who commissioned me during the last weeks. Thanks to you guys I could manage to fix some problems and issues that my car has, some of them were there for a very long time but we couldn’t fix them on time because of “reasons” (it’s a long, bitter and sad story), and I still got a long way to have my car completely fixed, so commissions are still open for a while. And after I finish fixing my car, I have to fix my house then.

However, during my weeks using Gumroad as my platform to do commissions, I’ve been thinking a lot about my first experience with this platform, doing comparisons with one another (my old way). And I realized that maybe this platform it’s not right for me… not for now at least.

As you all know, I’m working as a graphic designer for an important publishing company in Caracas (you know, the typical full-time job from 9 to 5) and this job is taking a lot of my time to work on my art and art commissions. Working commissions on Gumroad, in my current situation, was really stressful for me because the orders were piling up, and seeing that I needed to work as fast as I can to finish the requests and go for the next one… well, I was getting stressed out.

Anyway, the point is that I made my decision to switch to my old way of doing commissions. I realized that my old way was more relaxed than the Gumroad way and I can work on the arts without the stress of finishing this art fast to work on the next one. Also, making you pay upfront without seeing the sketch of the art first was stressing me out. I just feel like I was taking advantage of you and I was feeling guilty about that.

Now, I’m not saying that my experience of doing commissions with Gumroad is bad. On the contrary, it was good, but it is not the platform I need right now. Maybe in the future, when I get back to work as a freelancer, I will use it again. For now, I think I go back to my old way.

So, next month, I will unpublish the Gumroad commissions indefinitely, take a break for a while, and open it again with new products and rules. If you have an order for an art commission on Gumroad, don’t worry, I will work on your art even if the product is unpublished.

And talking about products, I’m planning to add two things to the list: one old and one new. The old one is that I’m going to do black-and-white art again, and for the other, I will add backgrounds, but this one will have its own price, I will explain more about that part when the time comes.

So yeah, that’s what I wanted to say.  If you have anything to ask about commissions, just send  me an email at brotherticoarts@gmail.com, or just DM me on Twitter or Instagram. I hope you have a great week, and as always, keep making something awesome!
