So... about 2023... (^_^") (Patreon)

My apology for disappearing into the black hole. As a binge reader myself, I totally understand if you are tired of waiting and just forget about the comic.

Writing a story requires a lot of mental bandwidth, so I couldn't do it while overwhelmed by life. Until last week, I barely had the brainpower to type a simple email, so I just fell off the face of the earth. Hope you understand.

Anyway, I don't plan saying anything until I have a new comic update, but Patreon changed their policy a few months back so I have to let you know how it will affect what I can put here starting 2023.

First:

Creators who put up NSFW stuff on Patreon have to submit a selfie and official government ID to continue to do so. While I understand their reasoning is to curb child pornography, this is a crazy invasion of privacy and I won't submit to this rule.

The fallout of my refusal would be:

•     Have to remove EVERYTHING NSFW from my Patreon
•     Can't post anything new that's NSFW on Patreon starting 2023

So there you go, I'm letting you know, so you can delete your pledge before I run Patreon again in the future.

I make what I wanna read, so it won't change what I put in my story just because Patreon changed their rules.

What I'll do from now on:

If sexy time is relevant to the story, I'll just sell a PDF on a platform that allows NSFW without getting carded. I'll move all the old Patreon goodies there too.

This is not the first time a platform just changed their policy overnight, and forced me to fix a bunch of old shit. Somehow this always happened during very stressful times in my life (back in 2020 and now in 2022).

Going through that many old posts was a very tedious activity that takes the time away from making new episodes. For this reason, I'm just going to focus on the main comic and not gonna offer anything extra on Patreon to make money off the extras.

Back then it was fun and easy, but the internet has changed a lot since then. Now the fun stuff has turned into a distraction.

If somehow you are still reading Mission Diversion and decide to stay on my Patreon in the future, I think it's shitty to ask people who've been supporting for years, or have large lifetime contributions, to spend more money to buy the new NSFW PDF on another platform.

I guess I can email you the PDF like I email my friend. But whom I send it to is up to my discretion and it is not a reward for staying on my Patreon.

Officially, there will be no NSFW perks on my Patreon starting 2023. Patreon won't allow it cos I won't submit a selfie and ID.

For future updates, it will be cheaper to just buy one NSFW PDF or two a la carte, than pledging month after month, since this is a sci-fantasy story, not a smut.

You'll only get to download PG-13 PDF here, and new story updates can be read for free on webtoon canvas later, whenever I've got time to update there.

ALL old smutty goodies here will be deleted within the next few weeks.

Second:

Some time in the future I may have to take Patreon offline temporarily.

Why?

My dad, who lives in another country, was in the hospital last week. Not life threatening, but he could return there at any moment and I'll have to fly on short notice to assist my mom with his health issues. It can happen at any time in the next few years.

I've been manually hitting the pause button in the past 2 years, but if I'm stuck overseas for weeks or months, I may not remember logging into Patreon. So I will take everything offline to avoid charging anyone who hasn't left.

If the comic is not updating, I don't wanna seem like I take advantage of people who stay. Trust is very fragile, once it's gone, it is extremely hard to be regained.

Sorry for the lack of good news, this long hiatus was unplanned but I finally got my computer, desk and chair put together last week.

I will go through all my writing notes and drawings that I made before SHTF in 2021. That will take some time and my mind has to be super clear to process everything properly.

I'll also start future-proofing everything I put online, so I can focus on making sci-fantasy romance stories that I love.
