Cora's splashy entrance step-by-step art process (Patreon)

This is from last week's chapter. The process from latest chapter will be posted next week or so, to avoid spoilers, in case some patrons doesn't read the latest chapter immediately.

01 Rough sketch of the water, with ink and shaded character.

02 Flatting the base color.
These first two steps are done in Clip Studio Paint. 

Moving on to photoshop for the backgrounds cos I'm gonna use photobashing and transform tool for the background, which is easier to do in photoshop than clipstudiopaint.

03 Deciding rough color pallette for the background, choosing dark so she pops on the center, the red on the background is to draw the viewers eyes to the center as well

04 Add lighting her, in the story, it's sort of morning in alien planet, and some kind of red purplish sun shines on Agent North before this panel shows up, so she should be lit by some kind of red lighting too.

05 Photobashing the water splash, using royalty free stock photos of 10+ different water splashes images and transform tool in photoshop.

06 Finish photobashing the background, also using hi-res royalty free stock photos of sky, sun and water, and do some massive color correction in photoshop.

07 At this stage back to Clipstudiopaint to use the Add Glow blending mode, or Glow Dodge, that pops the water splashes better than any blending mode in photoshop.

08 Adding smoke and fx, to censor for webtoon and show the temperature in the environment, which is crucial to the majority of the story. Also added those starry 'charm' ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) 

Step 1-8 were done in book print format and resolutions.
Now it's time to convert to webtoon vertical format

09 I color corrected the background to be much darker for better transition from North's panel. The dark makes his panel pops better cos it's contrast to his panel color.

10 The final webtoon version is darker than step 08 to give more contrast to make her pops more, but lighter than step 09 cos its supposed to be morning, not night lol.

Logically, these are still too dark for the time of day in the story, but I care about the visuals more than anything lol.
