Photoshop is your primary tool I suppose ? How long does a piece take you ? (Rough hours of course) Is all of your work straight up morphing or do you draw over a pose until you feel its comfortable enough ?

Photoshop is my primary tool! an image might take me 5 to 6 hours in total but I tend to work on and off. I often go through a few revisions as well which take me a little longer. I don't do any photo morphing, I just use textures to speed up the process of blocking in complex patches of fur/scale. This means that I don't paint over a pose and I actually have to create my own model using a combination of reference and anatomy guides to help figure out what I am going for. Most images that I do are only about 5 to 10% "Photo bash" The rest is all hand painted.

That sounds like a lot of time to put into a work of art. Not that I am complaining about the product mind you. How long does it take you to finish a piece on average? I figure it differs a lot depending on the difficulty of your subject, but can you give an estimate?

Givin that in reality I am actually a beginner when it comes to the amount of time I have been doing digital art I make ALOT of mistakes. There are just times when a project just really proves difficult for me and i spend 3 hours on a sketch—2 on wich are spent looking for reference and studying the subject matter—and in the end wind up scrapping it because the legs or head does not look right. The same goes for when I start painting. I might take 4 hours going back and forth as I progressively layer fur and erase just to do a spot all over again. Sometimes I scrap the entire painting because the image just seems to lose focus and I am at a loss for what to do next. The answer is about 5 or 6 for an image that does not give me trouble, and 7 or 8 for an image that is rather difficult. This is time spent not counting breaks between.

You tend to walk a fairly fine line between anthropomorphic and the inspiration for your characters, the animals themselves. Can you think of a piece that has given you the most difficulty or has been the most time consuming to finish? Recently, your panda gal comes to mind but in the past your gracile felines seemed like they could be troublesome. Would the bat lady fall under one of these difficult pieces given we still haven't seen the finished piece?

Oh without a doubt the bat, but the difficulty in that one was the lighting and not really the concept itself. An image that really proved difficult for me was the Oryx being that there is little reference for what ungulate legs look like at that angle. I am having a little trouble right now with a deer I am working on. going to post a WIP here soon.
