Dan, as someone who has completed and playtested the Outer Wilds DLC, I can confirm it's 100% worth it. It's basically an expansion pack, it's a whole new planet with an interconnecting story to the main game in a perfect way. It does have a lot of horror but there's a "less scary" option that really helps. The ending made me genuinely cry, and I never do that for games. I really urge you to play it.

The horror elements in the expansion are no scarier than the angler fish, and not as frequent as it seems either. If you use the less frights option, its 100% worth it. Almost as beautiful as the original game, and that's my best game of all time.

Honestly, totally get why you don't want the DLC. But it connects beautifully and the end will have you just as emotional. No problem with it feeling disjointed or disconnected despite it being entirely optional, it just gives you more story to enjoy. And the "horror" is literally no worse than the anglerfish

I’ve just finished the DLC and it’s so cute!! I loved it. I personally turned off the scares parts at times, and found it to be no issue at all! And I’m the kind of person who gets scared flying in the water of Giants Deep lol
