Hey hey,

Here are some drawings i did recently for the UNESCO 'City of Literature', to celebrate the coming of summer in melbourne and this cities relationship w words. didnt find it the easiest thing to conceptualise, *must...not...draw...books...as...birds*

square version

If anyone wants a copy of the new West Gate disaster zine pls lemme know, happy to spread them around. pls just respond w ur postal address if u want one. this is what the zine folds out to:

also i think if ppl buy stuff on my online store next couple of days then items shld arrive in time for xmas?! https://www.samwallman.com/store/ I recently put sum new stuff / some newly uncovered old stuff up there, including a bunch of detailed original drawings. I make all my work digitally now, havent drawn a picture on paper in like a year (such a weird thought). So the drawings up on the site are prolly the last pen and ink, organic tings that i will ever make.. until there is a big collapse and i am drawing with a stick in the mud lol. There are also a bunch of new large format posters on the web store.

I just went to add a 25% discount for Patreon supporters and there was already one there hahahah so i guess thats a permanent thing from here on. The discount code to enter at checkout is ‘patreon’. There are a few dozen things up there nowdays so have a squiz if u like.

If money is tight or if u have been supporting me a good while or support at a higher rate feel free to send me a msg w a request for any of the tings you’d like n ill try post out to u 4 free as thanks.

The main thing i wanted to do with this email was to work out which designs i shld go ahead with getting printed on these shirts. U ppl voted that i shld make the shirts b4 the book so im gonna do that. As for what to print on them, i think ill make two different designs.

Should these two designs be:

1: NO PERMANENT VICTORIES / NO PERMANENT DEFEATS

2: POLITICS DOESNT BEGIN OR END AT THE BALLOT BOXthis an old one but a design that is handy around the semi-regular time of election hand-wringing. if this one got voted up i wld probably redraw it to make it a bit more schmick / perhaps a bit more pointed.

3: STRIKES BEGET STRIKES
Could be a nice thing to wear to a picket or a rally or something…
I havent designed this yet but i think it’s a true statement (as much as the inverse is tru!)
as we know, strikes are down 97% since 1970s levels, a culture of industrial militancy is an infectious thing, confidence breeds breeds confidence and so on…
i cld have made the line “every thing gets more of that thing” but that might not be as politically useful :-P

4: OURS TO MAINTAIN
Similarly, havent yet designed this image yet but id prolly do it in a kinda reduxed old fashioned style, since it's an old idea.  we hold unions and their specific achievements like a thread through generations, and as my mate Matt Kunkel said “our duty is to protect them & continue the fight”. wld try make this a fairly evergreen / perennial kinda image.

Pls vote at the bottom of this email on one or two these options if u feel like!

drew the above lunchroom poster for United Workers Union to celebrate the considerable achievements of their members throughout the pandemic

Humbled 2 have drawn the raft of imagery for the '16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence', an annual international campaign that runs between the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, until december 10th, which is Human Rights Day.
we are in the final of the 16 days - many trades unions have activities going on, check social media or hit up ur unions to find out more.

recently sold some prints of the obituary drawing i did in honour of the late great Jack Mundey, as a fundraiser for the Earthworker Coop network, of which Mundey was a patron. the full $750 raised went to the co-ops, with this patreon covering printing + postage costs, along w my time, so cheers 4 that

there are some more copies of this print up on my web store if u wanna get a copy for yaself of anyone else 4 xmas.

the comic i made about the US military base located in the australian desert has been translated into Italian, for Internazionale magazine. feel free to share it with any ppl who speak Italian that u know.

you can read the English version on my facebook page here. i'm also planning to republish the thing in the little book im gonna put out after the shirts.

ok i think thats it for now! thanks for the support!!! pls vote on tshirt design options below if u hav a preference <3
