There are coming changes in patreon which we were told a few weeks back. It's about the worse thing in the world. Yes; taxes.

Due new laws passed thanks to the hippies ranting against Amazon, online transactions are being taxable now. This affects other companies like ebay, netflix and Patreon.

This is a sample post Patreon suggested me to copy and paste:

"Hi everyone,

I wanted to give you an update on some changes that we’ll be seeing which may affect some of your pledges. Due to new laws passing in several countries and US states, Patreon will be required to start charging sales tax on some pledges starting July 1st.

Less than half of all patrons will be charged sales tax, and for most, the amount will be very small. For example, sales tax rates in the US range from 4% to 11%, so on a $5 pledge, that would be between 20 cents and 55 cents.

Whether or not you will be charged sales tax depends on your location, and what is considered taxable there. Not every pledge is taxable, not all benefits are taxable in every location, and sometimes only a fraction of a pledge will be taxable. The money that Patreon collects as a result of these laws are paid directly to local governments.

I’m working closely with Patreon (Meaning they opened an advanced option on how to mark the value of each tier and a guide) to ensure I’m able to save you as much money as possible (If I can because it's quite complicated ;~~;)  when it comes to sales tax - which is not something that’s possible  (Allegedly) with other platforms.

If you’re in a location where sales tax will be required, you should expect to receive an email from Patreon with more information about this very soon, but I wanted to make sure you were aware of these changes way ahead of July 1st when they go into effect.

If you have questions, you should be able to find answers here. If you still have questions, the best place to get an answer is from Patreon’s customer support team, here. "

I'm gonna drop the actual link Patreon shared with us that has more information right here at this link.

Frankly this kinda pushes me to seek other platforms to move out from here. But apparently this situation will affect them as well. But first i'd like to hear your opinion about it c:

:'3 Either way, thanks for your support. Pls take care in all this covid-19 pandemic crisis.

I mean, f**k Amazon in general. For various reasons. Sorry it's affecting Patreon/you I guess but I don't have an issue with this.

The truth is that I think it depends on how much the percentage of taxes is compared to how much we pay per month. If it is only a cent of difference, I would not care much, but if it is several dollars, I think it would be a better idea to find another platform.

Max is around 11% With the current pledges it would be around several cents :>

If you were rather slow on your output while still collecting, I would have most likely cancelled. However, you have been very accountable to your patrons thus far, and the quality of your work is very good for what you charge. Therefore, a sales tax isn't going to change my pledge anytime soon. Also, dude, what the hell happened. You were inactive for such a long time I though COVID got you. At least I know you're still alive and well (or, at least, I hope you are well given the current living climate).

So for me there is no problem with staying on Patreon. I don't know if for other tables it will be the same, but several cents are not a big deal.

No problem with me with you staying on Pareon. State taxes where I am at are 7%.

I don't care about the taxes, it's not bad.. it's all worth it to see your artwork.
