The pigeon beat uses Jaco Pastorius' "Portrait of Tracy" a solo bass song that uses more harmonics than plucked notes... CRAZY that he chose to use that for the beat

"Boy meets world, of course his pops is gone. What you figure? That chalky outline in the ground is a father FIGURE?" one of my favorite double meanings of all time.

Did I miss the Like Water for Chocolate review??

Thanks for pointing this out. Had no clue it was a Jaco sample and didn't realize the same track was used for SVW's Rain. Incredible.

Yeah that one was upload a few weeks ago. Should be here if you scroll down.

You all did justice to this beloved album. I completely agree, that feeling of discovering a random weird album in a record shop that ends up being part of a movement will never happen again. Def Jukies!

This album really is "Illmatic set in the Blade Runner universe." It's so far out there but you can still feel New York, you can feel the people walking down streets and the rats scattering through ceilings. Everything about it is perfect imo. It still is in my constant rotation almost daily! Vast's opening line on A B-Boy's Alpha is one of the illest of all time to me. "My mother said you sucked..." So many quotables, crazy El beats, imagery, and creativity. I can go on forever about how great it is!

I'm mad late on this but did Myke actually review Cold Vein on his channel? I only see the Funcrusher Plus review

Little bit late but vast’s verse on iron galaxy is probably my favourite ever verse. “I rest my head on 115, but miracles only happen on 34 so I guess life is mean”

Disagree with myke on the whole “kids prolly don’t discover sub genres” it’s not like the genres ppl discovered just disappeared recently. For instance I discovered like a sub genre in prog rock like dream theater and camel and all that which is dope cuz I love like new prog rock like tool. Also hyperpop is relativo new too so.
