dual of the iron mic is my fav

I still love this album. To me it's definitely a classic and one of the greatest hip hop albums of all time.

Anonymous

the more and more I listen to this album the more amazed I get at how he forms his rhymes and if I were rapper, id agree with myke as him being The Godfather of this dark, vivid imagery and choppy run on flows

Anonymous

This is definitely a classic, it isn't even a question. Y'all are tripping. Dark, atmospheric production from RZA and some of the best lyrics ever put to tape. The best Wu-album, equal to Cuban Linx in my opinion. Great discussion though.

Man I was blown away in 95 with this project did I know was gonna be a classic no but by early 2000’s I was like man that’s a classic of course others were beginning to label it a classic by then but really I already thought it was

Anonymous

Honestly i subbed to patreon for this album lol but this is def a classic. To me at least this is one of my top 5 albums ever. edit: 17:15 universal truth is not measured in mass apeal.

Thanks for the great content and hard work!

Some of the best rap reviewers out, always post great content and show real passion for the art!.

I enjoy feefo’s input when it comes to classic reviews because I can relate to him, as much as I love hip hop i find it difficult sometimes to really get into some old 90s albums even though I acknowledge how good they are, it’s hard for me personally to get excited about them

Thank you guys! It’s crazy because this didn’t click for me the first couple listens but now it’s my 2nd favorite album of all time only behind 36 Chambers and idk about y’all but I bump this heavy a lot when I drive.

Anonymous

this still hasn't clicked for me but I'm gonna give it another listen

Great watch, thanks for the work and the quality content guys! 👍

Damn, I also thought this shit was overrated and just not clicking with me these few times I've listened to it. I should try to go back one last time

WHEN THE EMCEES CAAAME

Second album I recommend in a row, still no shoutout in the description, Modest? Awesome video though. Good job guys.

Dope ass review, among your best ones.

It took me like 3 listens to get into this album, strange. Every other wu-tang solo album I get hooked on easily.

It's not entirely my fault, but on behalf of the crew, I apologize bro. A lot of the times I'm just focused on getting the video out. I'll make sure the current descriptions are updated and communicate to the team going forward that we need to make sure they're done. -Modest

Great review

Thank you for this review, it's one of my favorite reviews so far. I like how ya'll broke down why you pull in personal references and experiences, it illuminates what I might not be able to see. For example, I like how Myke explained how experimental hip hop stemmed from this album. I agree with Beezy, from 93-97 RZA had an impeccable production run with this album being his most experimental (comparing it to Purple Tape, Iron Man, Return to the 36 etc). Keep it up and I look forward to what ya'll have next

To me this album is like putting a chloroform cloth over a crackhead, dragging him down to the dungeon, and forcing his eyes open like a clockwork orange, and than subjecting him watch of bunch of super politically dark imagery. The album is a very cold psychological place i love going too. It's not like madvillainy at all, but it just shows the potential for what a hip hop album could be.

Great review. Now we want you guys to review 808’s just to see Ken thoughts on it! Keep doing these amazing reviews.

This is right there with Ka as something that will click if you listen to it in the winter walking around with headphones

This was the first solo Wu project I fell in love with. I just fucking loved the way he was rhyming. The man's spitting without a single slouchy moment for 13 tracks straight. However, having been born in '96, I never would have realized that a lot of the contemporary hip-hop that I listen to all came from this project. So thank you once Myke for imparting your knowledge on my ignorant ass

Anonymous

I keep this album in my car at all times. I play it when I get off work pretty frequently

Anonymous

I recommend big L lifestyle of the poor and dangerous

Anonymous

tbh when I first got into wu I felt GZA was the best member. I could see where Method man would be seen as the favorite because listening to this album I saw the crossover potential in him but I always felt the most talented were Raekwon and GZA and when I heard this I was really liking it then I fell in love when it hit Gold all the way to shadow boxin'

Anonymous

The intro on the album oh my god

Anonymous

Myke, that run-on sentence shit was popular even in KGR's era predating Nas, Hov, etc. GFK and Rae did that a fuckton on their albums. You could even say that's a New York Rap thing to use enjambment frequently break or cross end rhyme schemes the way they did.

Also, Jeru had a very similar style to GZA on "The Sun Rises In The East" which was the previous year.
