I usually don't post commission works here often, but a recent one turned out to be quite interesting. The client wanted their OC drawn in a Harvest Moon like style and wished for a pencil or crayon like coloration in particular. At first, I wasn't sure if I would be able to imitate such a unique and clearly recognizable style, but I was eager to try it out for the sake of some potential new projects.

You can see the actual results here. The client was quite satisfied, which of course made me happy, but more importantly there is new potential for a bunch of new design and product formats and ideas for future artworks. Fortunately, I had experimented with a similar style in the past and was familiar with some related workflows. For instance, to achieve a nice contrast with crayon, pencil, and watercolor brushes it is always a good base to start with a brighter color as the main layer. The closer its tone is to white, the stronger the contrast will work and makes the darker shading color feel more natural.

It was a nice experience to rediscover this style, and therefore I was glad that I accepted this commission at the end. I want to test out this style with some Fire Emblem characters and OCs soon.
