I added the PSD file of the cover from the prologue chapter to my drive.

You may have noticed that the clothes worn by the characters are slightly different than in the current arc. The main reason is that I plan to switch their clothes during the story since I realized that their old design is way too complicated to memorize and it always drove me nuts that I forgot certain details.

Lesson: If you plan to draw a comic in the long run consider to use simple designs since you have always to draw them again and again and again and... You know what I mean!

I once read that advice years ago in an interview with the comic illustrators of the Avatar prequel comics. Although I thought I knew what they meant I still underestimated the importance to really take a hard line with this design decision.

There is a good and simple way to find out if the design you came up with may be a good choice for a comic or not. Just drawing your characters several times and see if you can reproduce the chosen design from memory. Repeat drawing after a distance of time and see if you can keep the design consistent. It makes sense since you always has to draw the characters in different angles and situations, so you should prioritize simplicity over details. You can keep your character designs simple and still ensure a certain uniqueness by coming up with a good silhouette, strong contrasts and shapes or a distinct color palette.
