Damn, have you got a backup pc or laptop for when stuff like this happens? Wouldn't expect you to throw money at one if you don't, but I know a few other people that keep an old pc lying around for when their main one is being fixed. Glad you've sorted it now. :) As for windows 10, I assume you're upgrading from 7 or 8? If so 95% of programmes will stay installed and should keep running fine, so it ought not to put a damper in your work. Also, have noms goddamnit!

I try to eat more, but I always forget. And yes, all my drivers are updated. I don't know what the problem was, but it seems to be okay now.

yeah 7 probably will be having issues now, 10 though actually is a decent OS so if it is that it should be fine. And no not going to tell you to eat since I forget too :P

Sounds like a memory issue of some type. Something definitely wasn't doing what it was supposed to. Glad you got it fixed!

At this point, it seems to be running just like before. I'm pretty sure what I had was a hard drive that was at the very last bit of storage it had and it was swapping and caching like crazy just to keep up.

yeah, the description you gave in the first minute pointed to Hard Drive for me right away. Hard Drives will go kind of wonky when they get close to 10% left, and if you get close to 5%, you're getting nothing done. I'd be willing to bet the video files you lost got screwed up because they didn't have enough room to actually save the video and so it just ate the footage.
