Behind the scenes, I've very quietly been hard at work on the next issue of the comic! Man, hard to believe we're just a few issues away from the big #50...

Above is the sketch for the first page, which will get inked digitally now that it's been scanned. But in a special look behind the curtain,  I thought y'all might find a little behind-the-scenes on my process interesting!

Here's the first half of the outline for this issue.  When I do the main comic, I always start with an 18 page outline. That seems to be the magic length for comics, long enough to cover everything but short enough to keep things moving at a good clip.  So when it's time to work one up, I print out a couple sheets of paper with 3x3 tables on them and use those to thumbnail sketch my general idea of layout, the art I want, etc.

See how that fist little square inch of squiggles became the page above?

The great thing about my outline page is... it's petty well only decipherable to me. XD What's happening on this outline?? Only the artist can tell!

And even if you're a really, REALLY good guesser... I only posted the first half. ;)

Back to work on it, if all goes well all the sketches will be done today and inking will begin in earnest!
