Olivia was homeschooled! She went to school for elementary school and then was homeschooled until she graduated. Also did you get the vampire parallels in logical with the castle imagery and the "how you lied, how you lied, how you lied"

emma lee

As a 19yo girl, this is an absolute instant classic that's sooo personal. So glad I was this age at this time if only to get to experience this music right now. And DW- your breaking bad and the wire comment didn't go to waste! What a stellar sophomore project. Didn't think Sour could get topped, but here we are!

Andi Watson

"I'm talking to the wrong crowd!" 😂😂

Soren

"This is the song!!!" was my reaction early in making the bed too. And yeah the reason it's the song is that it will hit with the same people that drivers license hit

Steph

At the end of the album, on Teenage Dream, you can hear Dan Nigro’s daughter talking. Olivia mentioned in a recent interview that making GUTS was hard for her to do because she would let the media and critics get in her head about her songwriting, most of the time she would just go into the studio and cry. Towards the end of Teenage Dream, you can hear how she starts to get louder and louder as if she’s screaming for help. She mentioned that the only thing that would ground her is getting to be around Dan’s daughter and surrounding herself by the innocence of a toddler. So the last few seconds when the music drowns out and you hear her talking to her, it illustrates that. It’s really poetic if you ask me.

Soren

In case you didn't know, the "I'm my father's daughter, so maybe I could fix him" is probably in reference to her dad being a therapist

Soren

The fact that you (and many of us) went from "THIS IS THE SONG" on making the bed to throwing your entire collection of pens on the table on the grudge....... HOW DOES SHE DO THIS

Soren

I wasn't aware of you when Sour came out, so I'm very excited to be able to celebrate this Olivia Rodrigo global holiday with you 💗 Totally agree that this album is even better than Sour which is UNREASONABLE. I love that it has more variety and I love that there are songs I can headbang to and grand anthemic songs and funny silly songs and a song that gives me otherworldly classic song vibes like drivers license (making the bed) and I love how she does so many different things (so many!!!!) with her voice and and and and and

yesenia

im not sure if you know but olivias dad is a therapist so its funny when she said she was her father’s daughter and can fix him

Vanessa

i dont think lacy is intentionally queer, sure it can be interpreted that way but i dont get that vibe at all from olivias lyrics anyway, girlies live with so much envy that most men will never understand fr fr its not always lustful (gives conan's heather vibes)

Steph

Logical is not about the drama from the past. It’s about the older guy she alludes to in vampire, you can especially make it clear in the bridge when she mentions “said I was too young, too soft, can’t take a joke, can’t get you off.” Lots of other lyrical parallel to both songs. Unless you are actually referring to making the bed, then that would make more sense.

Lailah

I agree!! that's definitely how I interpreted it. it's almost similar to the beginning of 21st century girls where she describes a girl she feels she'll never be. I also think you can hear sarcasm in parts of the vocal delivery on lacy that add to this idea (like on "well aren't you the greatest thing to ever exist").

Avalon Perry

Kind of agree, but I also think the wording "fell for you" is very deliberate, there isn't really a non-romantic way to interpret that lyric. As a queer woman, the way I interpreted the song is when you meet a girl and you have the "do I want to be her, or do I want to be with her?" thought process. I think Olivia's describing a girl that she's jealous of because of how perfect she is, but that also confuses her and makes her angry because of the things she's making her feel. I wouldn't consider it a "gay song" but I do think there are intentionally queer elements.

You should get apple music, the lyrics move with the song sooo smoothly and it's like I don't even have to use my brain loll. Then I can listen to the songs melody/production and understand the lyrics in depth on my first listen, it's honestly fucking incredible haha. Plus the sound quality is much better:)

Storm

Love how quickly you post these because I can listen for my first time with you ☺️

Vanessa

oh yeh i can def sense some spite in the 'arent you the greatest' line, as a queer woman too i enjoy that we can lean into both narrative even so, just wouldnt call it olivias coming out by any means as michael commented

Anonymous

I waited with listening to the album until I could listen it with you here in this video and you and Olivia both did not disappoint

Samantha

listened the first time around with you, going to listen again in a bit on my way to work. Right now, (not including the singles) my favourites are Ballad of a HSG, Making the Bed, Get Him Back!, The Grudge, teenage dream. such a great album!!

Maya

I’ve seen everyone say that they think lacy may be about liv liking a woman. Which could be the case but I feel like the song is more envious then anything. I think that lacy represents the idea of the perfect woman, Something that’s unattainable. She’s sexy, kind, smells nice and all these other things that she describes. But her saying “I see you everywhere …the sweetest torture…you got the thing that I want…” could just mean that liv wants to be lacy. “The perfect girl”. The “I feel your compliments like bullets” line could mean that the compliments lacy are receiving is actually hurting olivia because lacy is everythjng that liv is not. Which ties into a lot of the theme in the album about beauty standards like pretty isn’t pretty. Just my interpretation of the song though. It’s so complex. it’s my favorite. 🙂

Mariana

this was so good, and now ballad of a homeschooled girl is my everything!

bizarre☆azar

Okay, I honestly only like three or four songs on this album. A couple of them I even hid on Spotify because they were unlistenable to me. Sour is definitely the better project in my mind. I can see that this is an unpopular opinion here lol 😔 I’m kinda sad that I preordered the album 🙃 Definitely not album of the year, D-Day would get that award if I could choose I’m glad that you like it so much and find enjoyment in it!☺️💜

victoria

everytime i listen to the grudge i SOB

Maya

Yess the grudge appreciation I’ve literally heard no one say this one as a fav. it’s in my top 3 🥰

Kyra Brown

Truly love this ablum already so much olivia really is just a songwriting genius and logical and making th bed r probably my favs 😍 💗

caitlin

i loved the double meaning in get him back! she's a little genius. also, the sound of that song, especially the chorus, almost felt a little one-direction, midnight memories-y to me which i LOVE. everything about this album was so good, she writes instant classics and i felt the same listening to this album as i did when i listened to SOUR, just in awe and saving them all to my playlists

jeffrey

Lacy is a bit of a swipe at Taylor for making the "Never Meet Your Idols" because it will go Sour

Renee Parker

Grudge is my favorite.

Anonymous

I love your reactions to olivia because its the exact same as meee

onlyastarion

where did you get this theory? i didnt interpret the song like that at all haha. i interpreted it as the experience of seeing a girl and being jealous but not knowing if its gay jealousy or if you just want to be like her.

Anonymous

In a way get him back! reminds me of "Ten Duel Commandments" from Hamilton...I dont know why but the rhythm especially in the verses reminds me so much of this song :D

Aubrey

Such a great album! I wasn’t expecting this from her after Sour, but it’s incredible!

W. Cody Pitts

I couldnt listen to this till after work today and it was killing me. Then I came right here for this reaction, this is my super bowl sunday lol Listening to logical right now and realizing the double meaning in "like water from a February sky." Its a beautiful image with the next lines but I think its also a reference to astrology. Not typically the person to know celebrity birthdays but I share a birthday with her; shes a February Pisces, which is a water sign known for deep emotions. Her writing truly is on another level. Finishing the album I srcubbed back through each song cuz I couldn't believe that each one was great. The only down moments for me were when I was overwhelmed and distracted by how good the song before it was.

Cas

Are you going to do hsmtmts s4?

Soren

“Fell for you” can mean like “I fell for your shit,” like lacy successfully duped her. So not necessarily romantic. I am queer and wish this song was Olivia coming out and I didn’t get that from it at all (as someone who always thinks everything is gay 😂). That said, it reminds me of her saying deja vu was a song about feminine adoration of other women, which is queer on some level imo even if it’s “I want to be her”

Cassie

I have to say, as a 25 yo woman this album feels so good! The comeback of that 90/2000s sound plays a huge part in that, but the themes as well (pretty isn't pretty is amazing) which really shows how mature olivia rodrigo is in her writing but is also kinda scary regarding her own teenage years...

emmy

i always love your reactions! you loved life support by madison beer and her new album silence between songs is coming out this friday!! i would love if you reacted to it :)

Kerry

i'm not the biggest fan of this album even after a couple listens, i still very much prefer sour but you've changed my mind about some of the tracks for sure!

Ana

I’m here for your Breaking bad and the wire comparison, both insanely amazing shows

W. Cody Pitts

I know I've requested a few songs in the past but I think you should react to all of Juno by Remi Wolf at some point. She is opening for Olivia Rodrigo on tour and the album as a whole is one of the most interesting pop albums out out in the last few years. She was on tour with Lorde when the album came out.

Savannah Perrin

When you talked about the part where she goes “lalalalala” as in she doesn’t want to listen, it reminded me of the song La Di Da by Lennon Stella. Have you ever listed to some of her music? Beautiful!

jessica flores

Please react to Olivia’s Can’t catch me now
