i was waiting for this!! so excited, i’m so glad i requested this day off to fully consume it 😭

Shavani

Yayyyy also I really hope u check out his documentary on Disney plus. You really get to see how hard he works and how his writing process is. He talks about a lot of deep stuff as well.

Anonymous

so excited for this!!

Mariana

OMG I CAN'T WAIT TO WATCH THIS!!! Also, the music video for Amygdala comes out April 25 12am Korean time (april 24 11 am ET)

mammalay

Wow, so fast......yaay

Giu Bressani

won't be able to watch this until tomorrow, but just wanted to point out there's no one in the world doing it like him. NO ONE. And hope you'll watch the documentary soon as well

chimelle6

Still early in watching your reaction, but do you think the reaction to the doc will be out today too? 👀 Obviously, I don’t expect that at all we have been blessed with so much Agust D content from you! It just seemed like that could be a possibility??

chimelle6

We’re going to be getting an mv for amygdala and Yoongi asked us to watch daechwita, then haegeum, then amygdala mv all in order once it comes out! Also someone on Twitter said “we need to talk about how agust d eating with the chopsticks he murdered someone with is direct commentary on having to participate in the capitalist society he consistently criticizes in order to survive” (@/jkyoongs) which I hadn’t thought of but I think they were right. So many things to comment onnnn but I think some will be cleared up when you watch the doc so I’ll refrain lol

Tabatha Yang

Would loveeee to see you watch the Road to D-Day documentary on Disney+!! I watched halfway and was finally convinced I could not miss the concert

chimelle6

The female on SDL (and Life Goes On, but I haven’t gotten there in the reaction yet) is Adora (https://instagram.com/dora._.a?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=) she did producing work and background vocals for BTS for years. In 2021 she started doing solo work.

mammalay

The accident he referenced in armyglada was when he had an accident ( a car hit him when he was riding a scooter to deliver goods- a part time job) and the tire of the vehicle was so close to his face. He had a dislocated shoulder which he had to bare from debut all until 2020 when he had surgery and finally fixed it. (The accident happened just before BTS debuted) it was a close one.

chimelle6

Yellow journalism is when media prioritizes sensationalism and exaggeration over actual facts.

chimelle6

The opening of Snooze personally reminds me of Nevermind.

From what i gathered in the mv for Haegeum, its about how the system is a cycle. The first agust d that had blonde hair became the king in Daechwita. Then D2 version of Agust D killed him and took over power and is the corrupt police guy we see in Haegeum. This third Agust D we saw killed his D2 version off and it doesnt seem like he wants the power at the end, but his hair falling over his eye like his previous scar kinda hints he'll never stop the greed cycle as much as he tries. Its a commentary on capitalism.

chimelle6

Yoongi’s mom got sick soon after he was born, which I believe is when the heart surgery would have been, so it wasn’t at the same time, but soon after. From his lyrics it seems like complications or the strain of giving birth might have something to do with the cause of her getting sick? He had to live with his grandmother for a while since she was unable to take care of him.

Yeontan™️

the only thing getting me through this 10 hour shift is knowing i get to watch this as soon as i get home…. michael you are an angel 💜😩

Alix Drifty

The female vocals on SDL were Adora - she's an artist in her own right now, but used to work as a producer for BigHit, so the boys and especially Suga, bring her in a lot for backing vocals.

frejan

funny you pointed out the production on Haegeum. if you look at the credits for this track Yoongi is its only writer and producer (he's also all over the credits for instruments, engineering, arrangements etc. etc. for it). very genius of him

Mariana

This album is a masterpiece! I love how much you loved it too. The documentary is so good as well, I don't know if that will have a reaction too, but if you have questions about things said there just give us a shout. I feel everything I wanted to say has been already covered by other armys. Maybe the only thing is that Ryūichi Sakamoto (1952-march 28, 2023) was a movie score compositor among many other things, so maybe that's why the beginning of Snooze reminded you of something else(?)

Liuzetz

This album is indeed a masterpiece and had me all over my emotions. Suga once again gifting us such an Incredible work. I feel very proud and I cannot say it enough how much this man deserves all the praise in The world

signe !

yes i saw that twitter post too and i thought it was such a genius interpretation!!!

When I did my first album listen, I was holding it together well (because I think I was still in shock from the Haegeum MV) and just trying to listen to everything--plus I didn't have lyrics in front of me. But hearing the call back of "Dream" from So Far Away (on Agust D) started tears welling up. And I completely broke when I heard his lines from Life Goes On. I became an ARMY with the BE album, and the OT7 Life Goes On is such a special, special song to me. This LGO sounds more like a raw, demo version...and something about that just opened all the floodgates for me--both the first time I listened and then listening again with you! So excited for you to experience the concert surrounded by ARMYs. It's going to be a room full of energy and emotion for hours. Soak up every moment for us!

Bangtanlicious

Great reaction but i do wish u didn't pause haegeum sooo much just so that your stream would count for it lol

Michael Beveraggi

It won’t just because it came out after the time I had for filming but I’m def going to do it! Prob this weekend!

Love your reaction!! For me personally last two tracks hit me the hardest and had me listening to it over and over. Also fyi I know you were looking lyrics videos with the best translation but be weary of those that add extra time and sound to them because that is how they make ridiculous amount of money off artist’s songs. Can’t wait to see the documentary reaction 😄

mFortyFive

don't worry, i have a feeling he'll be listening over and over again!

Bee

sir please watch or re-watch the daechwita mv to be mindblown by the parallels in haegum

Bee

apparently there's a cohesive storyline between the daechwita, haegum and amygdala mvs. In the countdown for the YouTube premiere of haegum, Yoongi said that we should watch the three videos in this order to understand

crescent

Suga said that the 9th track Snooze is about what he wants to talk to his junior fellows who work in the same industry and even to himself. BTS barely had any senior artists to give them advices on how to deal with hardships because they were the first and only one to achieve this amount of success and fame in Korea. That’s why they thought ‘Should we stop here?’ when they started to get too much attention from the world. They always had to get the answers without any guides. Jhope once said on a talkshow that if he share his worries with others, they don’t fully understand and say "You have those worries because you are bts. People like us don’t even have chance to worry about those things." But as we can see in their solo projects, they are still human who have their own struggles. I can resonate the song more thinking of a kpop group member who has passed away few days ago.(He was a year younger than Jungkook and Jungkook has one of his closest friend in that group.) Many kpop artists suffer from depression and Suga is the best person to give them helpful advices as the one who got through same pains.

To add more perspective to Amygdala, this part of the brain is said to be directly responsible for our fight or flight response to stressful situations. The amygdala helps store memories of events and emotions so that the next time something similar happens, we’re able to recognize it and respond accordingly. So in the song, Yoongi is going through all the bad memories from his early life and asking his amygdala to save him. To help him recognize the emotions and memories and remind him that in those moments, he did the best he could (best choice, second choice) and now in the present, given the numerous pain he’s gone through in his life, his amygdala can save him by telling him how to respond to the situation.

I’m just now getting to watch your reaction. This album is so incredible, not just in Yoongi’s masterful writing, but also in his singing! He has grown as a vocalist and now when he sings, he emotes so much emotions just like our vocal line! I hope you’ll see Road to D-Day! I watched it earlier today and I was simply blown away. I’m so happy you’ll get to see him live! Did you listen to People Pt 2 with IU? Thank you!

Amber

i love this take on it. i interpreted it as him looking back on these memories and not recognizing himself because of the instincts that take over when we're in these situations (specifically when he says "i don't know your name"), and referring back to when he was in those situations and didn't know how to approach them, wishing for that fight or flight to get him out, save him, and then erase those painful memories so he didn't have to bear the weight of them. and then comes to the resolution that even though he has had to carry that with him, he has come out stronger because of it. regardless of the true meaning, this is my favorite song on this album because of how amazing the sonics, vocals, and lyrics are. he's truly a genius

tori

im at 55:36 of your polar night reaction and right now on twitter suga is getting attacked by kpop twitter saying he shouldnt be speaking on these topics like capitalism etc cause hes a millionaire and when bts went to the white house they were attacked by many people saying its not their place to speak on the racism they face because theyre not american even though they come here enough to speak on the issues. every time bts doesnt speak up fast enough people are yelling saying they dont care and whenever they do speak up about something people tell them they have no right to do so. they can never win and we are ALL tired.

tori

also im not 100% sure if its confirmed but i think hes talking to idols mostly in the song snooze but it can apply to anyone who has dreams

First of all, you wore the PERFECT shirt today! I’m sure Agust D will approve👌 I think what I love the most about Yoongi’s music is that we can hear and see how he’s grown in mindset, from the underground musician to the angry and frustrated “idol-rapper” with so much to prove to this Yoongi who’s trying to not let anger rule his world anymore. I feel the same kind of connection when I listen to Taylor Swift’s growth and the way they call back on past motifs ——— On Haegeum, Yoongi has mentioned in the past that there’s three Agust Ds—first the angry and hungry for success version in his first mixtape who became a mad king in Daechwita, second the rebel who killed the king in that MV, and our theory is that the third Agust D kills the second one in this MV after he too turned bad. I’m guessing this storyline represents the cycle of rebels becoming part of and ruling the system which turns them corrupt and unable to hold on to their previous values, or they held on to their values so much that they weren’t able to change and adapt to the times. I think this connects with the theory as well about the rebel in Haegeum eating with the chopsticks because he has no choice but to participate in the corrupt system ——— For Amygdala, I think it’s key to know that the amygdala is a vital part of trauma response in the brain. It basically imprints our emotional response to the traumatic event into our memories—how our heart pounded, how the air smelled etc—and this is our body’s defense mechanism to protect us from future trauma-inducing events and this is also the reason why people suffering from PTSD get intense emotional and physiological responses to triggering events even if they don’t consciously connect the memory of the trauma itself to what’s currently happening. The way he’s counting one to two reminds me of how we recount these events during therapy, and he seems to be begging his amygdala to help him sort out his emotions and make peace with those events he couldn’t control ——— In People Pt 2, Yoongi calls back to his forever = sandcastle metaphor in IU’s song eight ——— On Snooze, I think I was the most excited to hear how he worked with Ryuichi Sakamoto, who was a classical pianist-turned electropop musician-turned film score composer (if you’ve watched The Revenant then you’ve already heard his work! This song shows an important change from his mindset in Intro: Nevermind from “If you think you’re gonna crash, accelerate even harder, you idiot” to now “if you're afraid to crash l'Il willingly receive you, so don't be as miserable as me”. He also uses his verse in So Far Away: Dream may all of creation be with you til the end of your life
Dream wherever you are, will welcome you
Dream may your trials end in full bloom
Dream though your beginnings might be humble, may the end be prosperous There was an Army translator who said that the way he wrote these lyrics are very archaic (think almost like in old Bibles) which implies intense seriousness. Also, I just noticed that he also uses “dream that will only be just a dream” which is similar to Outro:Tear’s pre-chorus

It’s so funny (but honestly super sad) that a lot of people are responding to this release with the exact behaviour he’s calling them out for! Like they ran so fast to read the lyrics but where’s the reading comprehension?!?

Hi, okay so I have a lot of emotions going on inside me after watching and listening to this album with you. I heard the album before coming here but waited to breakdown the lyrics with you. I had already loved the sound in the first listen and sensed a completely different and yet familiar AgustD. After reading the lyrics and hearing the album, I am feeling very emotionally, for multiple reasons. One, the lyrics are so real and so beautiful. Like, you said the relatability was for sure there. Second, the fact that he loves us and trust us enough to tell so much of his stories and the third that, he went through so much and yet chooses to be a better and kinder person everyday is such an inspiration. Him and all the guys are such a constant reminder of why I fell in love with them and why they inspire me so much. They are all just beautiful souls who need to be protected and loved at all costs. I am so happy for you that you get to be at the concert and hear him live. Have the best time and know that everyone around you would be crying just as much. All of us ARMY's whether at home or at the concert will be together smiling and crying! As always, thank you for all the content!

Trish

I could never put my finger on it until I saw a comment a while ago saying that Yoongi makes you feel safe. It just hit me so hard. He is so real, sees the world for what it is, calls out the bullshit and says, this is how it is but it's OK. You'll be OK.

Sydnee R

I'll be at the show the day after you T_T HAVE A GREAT TIME THO!!!!

blue side

I feel you on relating to Yoongi the most, I feel like, from all the boys, we're the most similar in personality but also from the way we see the world. It makes me think of a quote from 1984 ''the best books are those that tell you what you know already'' and I feel like Yoongi is one of those books. He has such a way of giving comfort in a way that doesn't sound fake, it comes from genuine care and that's why it hits you in the feels, you know he's been through stuff, he validates your pain and tells you everything like it is, he's like a wise old man even though he's so young. I don't know how to describe it better but, at least in my eyes, he would be the perfect person to go through a zombie apocalypse with lmao

Dandy Welosky

PLEASE PLEASE REACT TO AMYGDALA MV WHEN YOU DO THE DOCUMENTARY

Bangtan is life

Surprised no one mentioned this but this Life Goes On is Yoongis guide or demo of Life Goes On

Lore Investigator

The female vocals you may hear sometimes are ADORA (twice in this album and she's worked with BTS before like in Spring Day, Seesaw, 134340, etc. both with vocals and production). she used to be a producer for Bighit but she's debuted as her own singer not long ago. She indeed has one of those voices where it's like she ate the CD lol.
