Mina

AAAHHHH OMG SO EXCITED FOR THIS also still only a couple mins in but i hope hope hope you are aware of the hidden track and its in this reaction 🤞🏾

TSO 아포방포

They have lots of appearances on Fallon. During the pandemic Jimmy did a whole week of BTS performances and interviews. I haven’t compared it but it almost seems like they are on Fallon more than Corden. I’ll have to research that. Fallon loves Jimin. Jimin is clearly his Bias. They are so cute together!!

TSO 아포방포

It’s a German Poem on his body. https://twitter.com/vmins_/status/1636582135971606531?s=46&t=UqRhmR4Sjd6nCnfRsn4qkQ

Thank you!

Also jimin said in a pre press release that this album was mostly written during the pandemic. It was his thoughts of loneliness and isolation where he would tend to drink and miss family friends and army. He worried that armys would leave during the pandemic and forget about them. He went through it, like we all did. I'm so happy and proud that in the end he was able to blossom and grow afterwards and finally be free

Set Me Free Pt. 2 is Pt. 2 in reference to AgustD/Suga's track Set Me Free off of D-2. They didn't plan it that way, and the songs aren't really related - but they have similar themes. In Suga's song, he's asking to be set free but doesn't achieve it - in Jimin's song, he achieves it, so he feels it comes after like a pt. 2.

Booryanne

Couple things! • Jimmy Fallon has had the guys on a LOT you have only seen the fun clips from James Corden because James Cordon honestly has better gameified segments but their interactions with Jimmy have always been so genuine and sweet. He has also stuck up for and talked about BTS outside of their interviews more then any other. We love Jimmy Fallon in the House of ARMY. • Set Me Free Pt 1 is an Agust D Interlude off of D2. • the lettering on Jimins body during the Set Me Free MV are a well known German poem that says: “I live my life in ever-widening circles that stretch themselves out over all the things. I won’t, perhaps, complete the last one, but I intend on trying. I circle around God, around the ancient tower, and I circle for thousands of years; and I don’t know, yet: am I a falcon, a storm, or a mighty song.” • fun fact: Letters, the Hidden Track, would technically be considered the 7th track (7 members) and it starts at 6:13 (June 13th is their debut date. Both of these numbers are tattooed on Jimins body) after the last track before it if your listening to the album. I and many other ARMYs cant imagine that isnt on purpose. I'm sure I will come up with some other fun facts but this is what I got for you so far. Thank you for the reaction!

Mina

also im so sad i just got put in twitter jail for cussing out apple music for taking so long to put this album on there lmaooo how can i live laugh love jimin in these conditions

SeaLights

Just to say that Its Jimin and Young credited on guitar on the album. Jungkook DID play a little of Letter on guitar on his most recent we-live though and we were just blissfully unaware that he was treating us to a gigantic spoiler for a few hours!

Yukari

Just watched Hobipalooza reaction so I need to get some sleep. I’ve been listening to the album non stop and watching the MVs. I can’t wait to get my physical album on Saturday. I will watch this after work!

Maya

I thought it was Jimin credited for guitar and Jk in backing vocals

Anonymous

just to let you know, the videos you had pulled up translated a lot of lyrics to sound like he’s talking about another person (i feel like you’re losing me) but he’s actually saying (i feel like i’m losing myself) and probably talking about/to himself throughout most of this album. I think most of the alcohol references are for his state of mind during the pandemic, most likely actual blackouts too, but i think Set Me Free isn’t about the alcohol setting him free, but rather him setting himself free from his negative thoughts and feelings (“i won’t hide anymore even if it hurts”). Due to jimin being very open about his journey in loving himself, and how he had sort of a toxic masculinity mindset in the past, i think him saying “raise your hands for the past me” and ending SMF in all white soft-looking clothing is him saying he’s finally set himself free and loves all sides of himself now. all FACES if you will :)

Suga.Just. Became.Salty.

BTW on jimins hidden track , jungkook has hidden vocals (listen very closely)

Mariana

Coming here to add it starts at 6:13 in the Like Crazy English version

Mariana

I think everyone has said already what I wanted to comment too. Only adding that in the Like Crazy MV you can see how the hand that pulls him away from his house into that night life was full of mud (also another reference to water) His house was also full of mud on the floor at some point and by the end when he's back his own hand has mud. SO I interpreted it as being pulled into something "dirty" or bad in a grey area, and coming back from it tarnished somehow. Also RM has writing credits on Like Crazy. One more thing, THANKS FOR THE CONTENT DUMP!!! I'm so excited to watch Hobipalooza now

Radiant_Allomancer

I totally agree, Jimin did something amazing here! Also, there are a couple references I’ve caught so far, there’s probably more that we’ll all catch later. In Face-Off, Jimin makes mention of a masquerade, which seems like a reference to the Love Yourself trilogy. In Like Crazy, Jimin says “I want to stay in this dream, please don’t save me” which seems like a reference to Jungkook’s Euphoria and then Save Me, but like specifically don’t reach out your hand to save him. Instead, in the MV, the hand dragged him into the party and to the alcohol. Then in Set Me Free pt 2 (part 1 being Interlude: Set Me Free from Suga/Agust D’s D-2 mixtape), Jimin makes references to Butterfly and the maze, which is super important in both The Most Beautiful Moment in Life albums and in the Love Yourself trilogy (and I know you got both those references!), but then the “going insane to stay sane” is a lyric from On! Then Letter includes sounds of the sea and is talking about his love for somebody, so it is referring to the hidden track Sea from LY: Her and is actually a love letter to ARMY! Overall, I think Face is Jimin’s personal Love Yourself journey! He started it off in a dark place with masks and hiding himself (and I think it was in Like Crazy that Jimin says he can’t go back to being the person that they thought they knew), and he works thru all those emotions and masks and faces until he accepts them all and he’s finally free! Finally, the German that’s written on Jimin’s chest in the Set Me Free pt 2 MV is the poem “Ich lebe mein leben in wachsenden ringen” by Rainer Maria Rilke. The translated poem reads: I live my life in ever widening circles, each superseding all the previous ones. Perhaps I never shall succeed in reaching the final circle, but attempt I will. I circle around God, the ancient tower, and have been circling for a thousand years, and still I do not know: am I a falcon, a storm, or a continuing, great song?

Radiant_Allomancer

Again, not sure why Patreon isn’t allowing me to edit my previous comment to update it with this new realization I had, so I’ll put it here. So then the Rilke poem explains the album art! Because there’s a ton of references to water/liquid/alcohol throughout the album, and the cover looks like ripples from a rock being dropped in a pool of water. They’re also the ever-widening circles from the poem! Each circle is the next stage of himself, the next face and persona, and in order to reach the next circle, Jimin has to learn to love himself at each stage!

I had so much to say but I read through the comments first and army are so good they hit on nearly all of it! For a bit more context, in their first online concert during the pandemic Jimin broke down in sobs, probably the hardest we have ever seen him cry, during their ending ments and said something along the lines of ‘why is this happening to us’. And I’m not sure if you knew or not but they originally were going to do their mots 7 tour in 2020 then enlist right after that and be doing all this solo stuff then so there was a point that I speculate they thought they’d have to split before getting to see army altogether again and he has said he doesn’t think he worked hard enough or was true entirely during that time and through that and the album it really feels like he had kind of given up … you know that feeling of playing a game or writing a paper for hours and hours and somehow all that work gets erased and you just have this defeated feeling of what is the point of even starting up again? That’s the feeling I sense that he went through but on a much smaller scale. They just worked so hard for so many years growing little by little and finally really being on top of the world when everything is halted and you might have to split without finishing out your plans. And in kpop it is very well known that groups don’t do nearly half as well when they get back from the military. They’ve very much shown their fears of that and I think that fear mixed with the pandemic messing up their plans was a lot and very scary. In a short Spotify interview (https://twitter.com/130613archive/status/1639265058147520517?s=46&t=ULxNDsdiTKWLkmxFpUNqjg) Jimin said the ‘dream’ he didn’t want to wake up from was being in bts.

chimelle6

I’m so upset about Letter not being available to stream as well! But they do that with songs specifically between them and army like the song sea, which I think is why he sounds of the sea in letter. Some lyric parallels: • hidden track, sea; 'the scary desert became the ocean with our blood sweat and tears' • hidden track, letter; 'if we are together just like we were then, when even the desert could become a sea' Parallels with blue and grey: Blue and grey: “i just wanna be happier” “My hands have reached out countless times” Letter: “I hope you become happier “ “you reached out your hand to me”

chimelle6

I really love how the songs/album can be taken so many ways though so many people can connect with it. You don’t have to know Jimin/bts’ story to connect with it but if you do you can pull another meaning.

Olive7

Like Crazy gives New Order late 80s vibe, I love it. First thought I had was True Faith by New Order.

Michel

This album... I listened to it on my way from work and I don't speak korean, but I knew it was gonna break me once I read the lyrics. The guys, one by one, just keep on proving why they're on top. So much depth. So many details. And the quality.. It's honestly nuts. I can't believe I'm living in the same era as them, it's such an honor to witness their journey in real time. Jimin has always been the most closed member of all and to be able to peak behind the curtain and see his darkest feelings and thoughts just feels so special. His angel voice makes it 100% better. I'm so proud of him, they seriously release nothing but art. I'm so glad Jimin is doing so much better now and that he has his 6 brothers that he can rely on. If I'm not mistaken, Letter (the song) is dedicated to them, and it makes so much sense.

Bangtan is life

I came to the comments to see if I needed to let you know the stuff you missed or didn’t know about, but as always the other armys have already done their job lol 😆💜

chimelle6

Oh! A few hours before the album dropped jk was on Weverse live and was playing a song on the guitar and we were unaware at the time that it was Letter. The tannies love to spoil things when we aren’t able to realize that they’re spoiling.

chimelle6

Also, people theorizing that the girl walking towards Jimin in the Like Crazy mv is his mirror, that is why they never actually meet and right after the moment they nearly reach each other it switches to him looking into a mirror. She has a bit more ‘masculine’ features and Jimin with his more ‘feminine’ features to represent his struggles and acceptance of both sides of himself.

jennptx

Letter joins Path and Sea as hidden songs. I think he wanted to leave a deeply meaningful surprise for us, and since his first solo solo song was Promise, this makes a lovely bookend to that. I love all the references Jimin sprinkled throughout to his own songs and songs with the members. This whole album is produced incredibly, he sings incredibly, and every song is packed with so much emotion and depth. I'm still trying to process. Thank you for the reaction!

Dandy Welosky

This man gave us so much honesty in 6 songs

pebble

what a beautiful comment. thanks for this description. I haven't actually seen the endments from their online concerts during the pandemic. Are you referring to On:E?

pebble

Thanks so much for your reaction! Bangtan has said before that their hidden tracks are personal letters to ARMY -- they don't put them on streaming platforms because they aren't sentiments they expect the general public to fully understand. So while I'm sure it does help them sell physical albums.... like you said -- ARMY always buy the albums regardless. It's more about safe-guarding precious sentiments and trying to gift them to ARMY more specifically. It's such a beautiful album. One I can have on repeat day after day -- just like Jack in the Box and Indigo. What incredible pieces of art each one is giving us. And I love how each album has been SO specifically individual to each member. Their fingerprints, for sure.

chimelle6

Yup! If I remember correctly it was the first night and the second he made a joke saying he wasn’t going to cry that day. 🤔

2023-05-03 03:04:01 For Dive: I took it as "Memories" are at the door because that opening sound makes me think of rewinding tape/or video played backward. To my mind this track represents the fall into despair. He did a lot of running as exercise, so you hear that, then the clip of him introducing himself is from the Busan concert; the last time he was with ARMY. Puttering around, daily life like going for a drive, and having a drink... Alone. Like Crazy, a quick note, there's a the fastest clip at the beginning of the MV when he's dragged into the club. The hand that grabs him is /also/ covered in sludge. One theory is that He is the one dragging himself in the muck, and by the end of the song, he's asking what is the point? The next song, Alone, as you said, is the cry for help. If what I read is accurate, this song could represent a long talk he had with the members after PtD in Vegas, where he finally talked to them about how he was feeling and if he was the only one and got support and encouragement to express his feelings in music. Set Me Free Pt. 2 [part 1 is on from D2] They are tangentially connected by name, the theme of seeking escape, and the hook, but are not actually connected. Performance & Choreography by @bangster277, @noah_nakta, @minbro1325 [HYBE/Bighit in-house chroeographers] and @sienna.lalau [our BTS choreography QUEEN; provided choreo for Dionysus, ON, Run BTS] If Alone is the despairing cry for help, then SMFpt2 Is the anthem when you dig deep and fight your way out of the sludge that was keeping you down. "Going insane to stay sane", the horns, heavy drums, and even the same choir from ON, were used in this piece. The spiral portion of the choreo could be: a maze that Jimin enters and escapes to be free like a butterfly from the chrysalis a Fibonacci spiral, a 6, to which Jimin adds himself to make 7, thus representing BTS. The poem on his chest is German by Rainer Maria Rilke entitled "I live my life in ever-widening circles" I live my life in ever-widening circles that stretch themselves out over all the things. I won't, perhaps, complete the last one, but I intend on trying. I circle around God, around the ancient tower, and I circle for thousands of years; and I don't know, yet: am I a falcon, a storm, or a mighty song. All I have to say about Letter: It put me under the ground. Jimin and my bae JK adding chorus and ad-libs. My heart was so very full after hearing this song. It lives in the same house as For Youth. When your idol loves their fans as much as you love them. My heart might well burst.

I think set me free is more about him finally being free of that dark place, and finally being able fly.

Yukari

I finally got to watch the reaction! Thank you for adding the extras! My husband and I just watched the Performance on Jimmy Fallon. And now the CD has arrived so I could finally add the Letter to my playlists. I can’t express how much I love the song. And it’s hidden in the Like Crazy English Version at 6:13… these boys never fail to make me teary. And I forgot to mention in your Hobipalooza reaction that I’m so envious that you get to see Suga. I just couldn’t make it work with my school schedule. Thank you for loving the boys! 💜

Lindsay Strodel

Thank you so much for this reaction!!!❤️

Lindsay Strodel

Also if you wanted, please please react to the show Daisy jones it’s so good!

Barbi Duarte

Also jm mentions the dream he doesn’t want to wake up from is bts; so I take it as a metaphor also, the high he feels on stage comparable to that of being drunk, he doesn’t want to be saved from it, even if fame and pressure can break him

Really wish you could watch Suga's YouTube show Shuchwita. Its latest episode is with Jimin: https://youtu.be/X6Svs7gYs1U
