I'm so livid the Paddy did not get a Golden Globe nomination because episode 8 is everything! Matt Smith was my favorite Doctor, my favorite Prince Phillip, and now my favorite Targaryan Maybe I'm a coward but as soon as Luc landed and saw that dragon, I'd have pulled a Homer Simpson fade into the bushes and sent a raven lol

also don’t want to spoil any future happenings but next season will definitely be wild, i’m assuming we will see winterfell and cregan stark (who is literally the coolest stark, sorry ned) and all of the crazy drama

Season 2 was confirmed to be happening either the same night ep 1 aired or the very next day, I can't remember which. GRRM has said that to flesh the full story out it'll need at least 4 seasons. I absolutely love that you've grown to appreciate Emma Darcy as the older Rhaenyra. I think they are absolutely incredible and they are perfect as Rhaenyra. It's unfortunate because Emma got a lot of hate when people found out they were cast as older Rhaenyra and still gets hate because some people don't think they are "pretty" and feminine enough. The choking scene between Daemon and Rhaenyra confused a lot of people I think. Even Matt Smith has said that he and Emma didn't understand it either but they tried to play it the best that they could. I get that grief and what not hits people differently, but it's been obvious from the beginning that Rhaenyra is the exception for Daemon with everything so it felt very weird to me (I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts about this though! Civilly though, I'm not looking for people to attack one another for their opinions.) I'm very excited for you to meet Cregan Stark, as Kerry said, he's the coolest and most badass Stark in my opinion.

I cackled when I realized what Alicent was doing with her feet. I don't know if you realized in an earlier conversation Rhaenyra was asking her dad if he meant what he told her in the past about the song of ice and fire. When the king was having his last conversation with Alicent he was out of it and he was answering his question to Rhaenyra. He had told Rhaenyra about Aegon the conquerors dream of the song of ice and fire. Viserys: But you wanted to know... if I believe it to be true. Alicent: Believe what to be true, my King? Viserys: Don't you remember? Aegon... Alicent: Our son? Viserys: His Dream. The Song of Ice... and Fi... It is true. What he saw in the North. The Prince That Was Promised. Alicent: I don't understand, Viserys. Viserys: The Prince... Alicent: Prince Aegon? Viserys: To unite the realm against the cold... and the dark. It is you. You are the one. You must do this. You must do this. He was trying to say he believed Aegon the conquerors dream of the north, the prince who was promised, all of it was true and that Rhaenyra must be queen to continue what they talked about.

Daemon is one of my favorite characters due to the fact that in the moment, you never know what he will do, but once he acts, it feels right and in-line with his character. I think the scene is perfectly in-line with Daemon’s character, especially the Daemon that we see in the beginning of the season. I think that there many feelings that Daemon is experiencing during the scene, and all at once and he he snaps. There is obviously anger there, as well as betrayal. Daemon learns that he wasn’t told the secret that was told to the heir Rhaenyra. I’m sure that he is also quick to realize that Viserys never had any intention of making him the heir because he thought that Daemon wasn’t ever suitable for the role. It’s so gut-wrenching after watching the Daemon and Viserys relationship develop. I think it’s also interesting from Rhaenyra’s side as well, she realizes that it was never told to Daemon in the scene as well. I think she thought the whole time that she was always Viserys’ second option after the plan A of Daemon didn’t work. But hearing this I think gives her more confidence in herself and in the decision of Viserys. I think she concludes here that Viserys genuinely thought that she was meant to be the heir to the throne. It was never Daemon as a possibility in Viserys’ head. Daemon is also a very straightforward and logical thinker, but he acts with emotion. We see this during his battle preparations in the last episode. His thoughts are short and straight forward—the argument that he gives of the blacks having more dragons than the greens is just one of many. So when he hears that there is this “dream,” I’m sure that he is the most hesitant to believe it. He even says, “Dreams didn’t make us kings, Dragons did.” Daemon sees things as they are. In his mind, it was dragons that gave them this power and what created this dynasty, and not some dream that Aegon the conqueror had. There is so much more I could share here but it’s getting far too long. Such a complex scene with complex characters. :)

Michael.... I know you will no doubt re-watch the whole first season on your big screen... However I encourage you to turn off the auto play function that takes it to the next episode. This allows it to continue, because after the credits each episode has a preview of the next episode followed by Inside The Episode for each. Also there is a House of the Dragon Podcast. They are each an hour long like the episode itself. They talk over things in the episode. Some of the stuff I didn't catch until it was pointed out. Helaena is definitely implied to have some sort of prophetic visions. A lot of Targaryens have had visions that come true in the past, like Viserys having a dream about Aegon being born wearing the conqueror's crown and we see that dream come true in ep 9, he gets crowned by Aegon the Conqueror's original crown. Remember in ep 3 at the bonfire with Alicent, Viserys says "What is the power of a Dragon against the power of Prophecy". Their prophetic visions is what allowed them to escape from Old Valyria to Dragonstone before the doom happened. Another example is Aegon's Prophecy about the White Walkers coming from the North that we learn about at the end of ep 1. And Daenerys also has similar visions in GOT s2 finale at the house of the undying seeing the Iron Throne and the Red Keep in ruins. It seems like the Targaryens are very prone to be born with this power, some have more, some have less of it. In the books the power is called being a Greenseer. Jojen and Bran are also considered as greenseers, Bran also being a powerful Warg makes him very special to the Three Eyed Raven. There's a lot of magical shenanigans from the books that they left out from the original show (I think that was huge a mistake). And I hope they incorporate more of that stuff in Season 2. Which I'm very excited to see.
