Just a little bit of completely useless trivia- the book Hopper is reading El is Anne of Green Gables. It’s sort of a weird spot to drop in on the story as she’s telling someone about her parents and how they died, but it’s generally a happy story with a lot of heart and whimsy. It’s also the book he was reading to his daughter when she was sick in the hospital.

Jim yelling at El enough to make her cry and bust out all of the cabin windows always gets me crying! It’s too relatable to me. I love my dad and I know he loves me too, but he- like Hopper- doesn’t always express his love and concern in the best way. And things that should probably be said in a nicer way, aren’t. Great reactions as always!

I love rewatching this with you. I do think Jonathan and Nancy are a better pairing romantically, but I have such a soft spot for Steve as a character. Just wait, you'll see. I definitely think Hop is going over the top trying to protect El, and that he has no idea how to parent El through her teen years. The kids are about 12 this season, and all those hormones and questioning of authority are kicking into high gear. His last parenting experience with his own daughter was when she was young and he had a partner to help as well so he doesn't quite know what to do. He's a good guy that loves the people around him though. Don't give up on him!

it's nice to see some jonathan love for once! Steve is really funny, but Jonathan fits so well with nancy and he's really sweet. (steve is sweet too, but jonathan is very down to earth and has layers).

i’m so excited for you to see steve grow as a character. he was even supposed to die in the first season but they loved the actor so much they kept him and wrote him a whole new story line.

I liked max from the beginning if I’m being honest. I’ve always loved that she never took shit from anyone and always knew how to hold her own. She definitely is a bit stubborn but I think she compliments the group very well. And let’s not forget that Sadie Sink is a phenomenal actress :))

I guess I’m the only one who actually comes to love Hopper and El together, as he kinda becomes like a father figure for her❤️ Hopper may be rough around the edges but he means well!
