I know this us old now but Steve did nothing wrong with the camera, we know jonathan wasn't being a creepy pervert but taking voyeuristic pictures of people is still completely messed up

I really like this show because of the pacing. Everything is important, but the introduction of information isn't too overwhelming. As much as I know you're not enjoying Lucas and Steve, over the course of the series they become my favourite characters; I think the writing just really drives the fact that all these characters are just doing the best they can. Sometimes their best isn't very good, or very compassionate, but most of the interpersonal conflicts feel really in line with their age groups for the situation, you know? I think in these early episodes it's really easy to be annoyed with Lucas, because we know so much more than he does about the situation as a whole and about El. But if I were twelve years old or whatever, and some random girl with telekenesis just showed up out of nowhere at the same time one of my best friends went missing, secretly moved into my other best friend's basement, says she can help us find said missing friend, but then appears to be jerking us around and also has the ability to control and harm other people, I would... also probably not be a happy camper. She isn't forthcoming with her information, and her insistence to leave any and all adults out of the situation would be really scary. We as viewers understand everything, so of course Lucas comes off as being really mean, but I think he's just trying to look out for Dustin and Mike the best way he can think of. Also, Nancy! She's so brave; I can't imagine having the nerve to climb into that tree. She's such a badass. Very excited to watch the next few episodes with you!

Take a minute to do a Google image search of Buffy Summers' bedroom from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. If they aren't reusing the same set for Nancy's bedroom, then it is clearly an homage. Buffy's bedroom had pink and white striped wallpaper, a wrought iron bed, and a wicker-framed full-length mirror. Even the closet and window are in the same place. The only difference I can see is an extra pitch in Buffy's ceiling, as if there is an unseen set of attic stairs. The chief's name is Jim Hopper. He is usually just called Hopper, but there are a couple of jokes in seasons 2 and 3 that will be more satisfying if you can remember that his first name is Jim. Matthew Modine is playing Dr. Brenner, whom Eleven calls "Papa." Keep in mind that this is set in November 1983. Most people consider the end of the Cold War to be 1989, when the Berlin Wall fell. The fact that the U.S. Department of Energy was training children to spy on Russia is the worst fictional version of what the Cold War was. Stranger Things takes place in Hawkins, Indiana, which is a fictional town. There will be a bit of travelling as the series goes on, so it's helpful to remember that they are in the Midwest.

The nostalgia I'm feeling from revisiting this show is amazing. Every character is multidimensional and interesting, so there are definitely gonna be times you both love and hate almost everyone (similar to Euphoria in a sense lol). The 80's music, aesthetic, wardrobe, overall atmosphere, etc. are all exceptional, and it only gets better and better with each season imo. Excited to see your reaction to so many incredible moments, this show truly fights for a spot in my top 5 series of all time :)

The thing i love (and sometimes is most frustrating lol) about this series is how every person or group of people thinks they're living in a different genre of movie or tv show until forced to collide with a different person's storyline and their world opens up. Like, El is in the middle of her superhero origin story and and the boys are at the same time the main characters of their 80's Goonies-style kids adventure story. Meanwhile Jim is the lone detective who's the only competent one in his department (except Flo, we stan Flo) in his cop drama so of course he wouldn't tell anyone anything, he can only trust himself. During that, poor Joyce is the main character of a supernatural horror story and literally no one believes her until the cop drama forcibly collides with hers and she gets an ally. While all that is happening the teens are having their own versions of teen dramas that are inching steadily closer and closer to the main storyline as well. It's masterfully woven together and so so fun to watch

When you said that you didn't have your dad teaching how to tie a tie. My dad was there but not there. I had to learn how myself too. I can relate.

I looked up the bedroom & the resemblance is uncanny Julie!!! Wow!! I actually remember watching an episode of Buddy here & there now!

I completely forgot how good this show is. I knew it was good, but I forgot it was THIS GOOD. I just hate the waiting game in between seasons, bc that's when I just get lazy and never get back into this type of series. 😅 Also, just a note on Hill House, it isn't jumpscare heavy at all. It's more of an easter egg type. So you're kinda safe on the jump scares on Hill House
