Lewis is high on my list of favorites.... he is fantastic, that voice he could sing me the damn phone book and I d smash that like button. His voice inspires me to write better, and his album is on repeat when I am having a writing session.

Before You Go is a song he wrote about his aunt that committed suicide. Someone You Loved was a song that he said he wrote because he was sick of writing songs about relationships ending, but he needed another song. This song to him is actually about losing other people in your life, family, friends, and others who you are used to being able to count on their love and presence in your life and then losing them in some way, either in death or going separate ways. I heard this song just after my grandpa passed. He was literally the most special important person in my life so it hit especially hard. If you listen to this and Soon You'll Get Better by Taylor Swift, you will have the wreck that was me in 2019. So glad you did this one. I love so many of the songs on this album. He does have some other songs floating out there not tied to the album, so give that a listen.

ok so this reaction was everything i wanted to be!!! like wowowowowowowow so good but uh yeah before you go is about Lewis’ aunt who committed suicide when he was really young and it was about him talking to his mom thinking back and think about what he could have done to help her

hiii mike ! like u said multiple times Lewis voice is amazing. There's a live performance of bruises that u should check out his voice is just like the recorded version if not even better. Alsoo will u be reacting to the Silk Sonics (Bruno and Anderson) album?? for sure one of the best albums to drop this year. And did u see that 5sos are droping a new song this friday?? they're also doing a concert on youtube in case u want to watch them <3 have a great day

So like someone else stated, before you go is about his aunt that committed suicide when he was very young, either from his mums perspective or him talking to her about it and what could be different!

okay just finished watching!!! the album title comes from an unreleased song called ‘figure it out’ that wasn’t ready in time for the album but he really wanted it to be on there and so should be on the second album. he’s performed the song live a few times and you can find videos of it on youtube if you wanted to check that out and see where the title of the album came from! as you said lewis and his personality in interviews and stuff is quite different to the music he makes and he said that he wants the music to be serious but the rest of it (music videos, interviews etc) don’t have to be - he doesn’t want to be labelled as just a boring guy who only sings sad songs and that’s why his personality shines through so well outside of his music. from the album grace, bruises, hold me while you wait, someone you loved and before you go were all released as singles and that’s potentially why grace feels more systematic as he released it as a single in 2017 (i also really recommend the music video for grace to highlight how he doesn’t take things too seriously outside the actual music itself). he also has two eps called breach and bloom which contain some songs from this album but also others that i think you would love. he’s also collabed with jessie reyez for a song called rush which is also really good. just a fun fact he wrote the song headspace when he was only 17 and it was the first song he ever properly wrote and then it was bruises that got him recognition by his record label and it all just went crazy from there!! i’m so glad you enjoyed the album it’s definitely one of my favourites of all time you should definitely check out some of his live performances when you get the chance they really just highlight his vocal capabilities and how brilliant of a singer he is!

Loved this so much. I always get so proud when I see people discovering Lewis' music. He's like a hometown hero here is Glasgow (Scotland - he is Scottish btw like you guessed) His personality is literally just Scottish humour personified and we all love him for it!

"before you go" was written from his mom's perspective about his aunt's suicide... it makes me cry everytime, i can't imagine losing my sister

Lost On You is one of my favorite songs of all time and it never fails to make me cry, I'm glad you liked it! another one of my favorite songs of his is hollywood and he has an acoustic version of the song and it is so fantastic i definitely recommend taking a listen whether it's on your own time or you decide to share it with us! His song with jessie reyez is also a great one! I loved this reaction, glad you liked him!

This..crushes me I’m so sorry you lost your grandfather, I’m happy you have music to be your therapy, as painful a process as that is ❤️

Michael Beveraggi

Thank you Lulu 💛💛 I love that he was willing to share that with us. Can’t imagine the pain of writing that & singing it

Have you watched Ted Lasso? One of my favorite jokes from the series was "How many countries are in this country? Four." Yes, Lewis Capaldi is from Scotland. Since Scotland is one of the four constituent countries of the UK (England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland,) it is perfectly fine to call him British or Scottish. As always, thank you for the excellent reactions.
