Michael thank you...I needed this at this moment in my life. This is one of my all time favorite albums... The allusions to Romeo and Juliette, the brutal honesty, the sick beats, AND THE ODDACITY to do Sorry. So pumped for her to work with one of my fave producers (Trent Reznor).

sorry is literally one of her most brutally honest and heartbreaking songs i knew you would love that one ❤️ ALSO totally make sure you do badlands deluxe because its the real experience, the track ordering is different than the normal version... so it's not like a bunch of meaningless bonus tracks thrown at the end like most deluxe albums

I cannot wait for Badlands (Deluxe Edition)… I’m not really much of a Halsey fan overall, but I just love that album—it’s so nostalgic for me because it came out when I was close to graduating high school. Very much an essential part of the universal teenage angst soundtrack lmao

Yes!!! It very much was the soundtrack to my late teens when I was still angsty but growing out of it

Ok so I officially watched this twice, thank you yet again for making my entire day!! I could listen to you speak all day. You were pretty much spot on with a lot of your thoughts! This was my favorite album ever made up until Manic came out. Which surpasses this in so many ways for me. The way Halsey writes definitely requires multiple listens! You picked up WAY more than I ever did my first listen and I’ve been obsessed with her from day one. Also, hopeless was my least favorite song because of exactly what you pointed out (after lie because what), although I did also appreciate it as an album closer, much like you. buts it’s definitely grown on me a bit over the years!

I loved your analysis of it, I used to play this album só many times a few years back, and relistining and getting your insights makes it even better. I do recommend listening to Eyes Closed Stripped version, it is so intense and so intimate.

Theres a vevo live of ‘lie’ without quavo KKKKKK its perfect, one of my favorites.

tw suicide loss Sorry makes me think of my younger brother, who I lost to suicide at 21 in 2017. It feels like I’m getting an apology from him (not that he owes it to anyone) when I listen to it. This was one of the albums that carried me through the deepest moments of grief. Thank you for giving it a chance. When you listen to Badlands make sure to do the deluxe version, it’s brilliant.

her rap collaborations from hkf to manic increased exponentially lol

just an fyi, they hates that she collabed with quavo (he came out after the album with very problematic things and homophobia!!) and pretty much after the album came out, she would remove his bit and would do such a good version of it and cinematic experience, you should look at their version of it on vevo live thing!! Also she told a story with her music videos in this era so i definately think if you have time, you should check them out!! very romeo and juilet esque!!! i think the order is now or never, bad at love, sorry then alone!!!

Also please I beg you to watch the bad at love magnum stripped version she does, their vocals have improved massively and i think you'll love it!!

Hannah

if you want to see what their vision of Romeo and Juliet in regards to the album, I would watch the music videos! If you watch them in the right order it's its own little film. (1. HFK trailer 2. Strangers 3. Now or Never 4. Sorry 5. Bad at Love (Angelus Cut) 6. Alone)

Sorry to comment on such an old video, but I just had to say this about Lie - I don't know if it was intentional or not, but Quavo coming in and blatantly not understanding what she was saying only adds to the fact that she's forcing this relationship that shouldn't be. She's spitting poetry about how he's been fucking with her head the entire time, but she loves him so much she would rather he just lie and say what she wants to hear. It's clear immediately to anyone not in her shoes that they're not right for each other; he doesn't understand what she's saying, he's taking her at face value, he's minimizing her down to her ability to give head. But all she hears is "We're in love." Even if she didn't mean to do this, having someone on the song who also doesn't look past surface level on the track tells the story more!
