Someone said this about Ricky's character arc and I thought it was amazing analysis: "How did it take me this long to realize Ricky is the Beast? I don’t mean he’s playing the Beast I mean he IS The Beast. He’s fixated on keeping things the same and not fixing anything that’s wrong. Like how Ricky is trying to keep things from changing like having his dad date because it means his parents’ relationship is truly over, or how he won’t even acknowledge what Gina said because it risks moving the needle of their relationship from the friendship he’s comfortable with. Beast is obsessed with the Rose, the symbol of hope and despair, but it doesn’t stop the Rose from wilting much like how Ricky is fixated on Nini (I think The Rose Song does a better job of explaining than I could). Despite how hard Ricky and Beast try to keep things from changing things continue to change and it makes them angry and causes them to lash out at people who care about them and just want to help. "

yes! i noticed this also, ricky seems to personify the beast (not wanting things to change resulting in him being cold to others) while nini is the rose (being trapped and the beast's fixation) and gina is belle (allows the beast to grow and leave his past life and accept change). there's so much symbolism in this show and it's so interesting to analyze.

Gina as Belle for that reason doesn't make sense to me. Nini, his dad, Miss Jenn, a lot of people in his life, in general, can allow him to grow and accept change in his life if he only opened up to them. Instead he continues to keep everything in and lash out on everyone he is close with.

to add on, nini resonates with the rose song because it symbolizes her character arc, gina resonates with home (belle's song) because it symbolizes her character arc, so i feel like we are going to get ricky resonating with a beast song soon (i hope it is evermore)

Sofia Wylie (Gina) is killing all these episodes so far. Don't get me wrong, she is definitely the most interesting character but I am disappointed in how they've centered her story around Ricky this season. The flashback scene was a great insight into the pain she's been dealing with, but at the same time, leaves more questions for me. Why did Ricky ask that "if we were dating" question last episode to her, knowing how she feels? Why is Ricky being overly insensitive? A teenage boy cannot be this dense or cruel. I would like to see some resolution - either Ricky confesses he also has feelings or give the closure that Gina rightfully deserves. It's been dragged on for too long. I love The Rose Song - young girls will be hearing the message that they're more than what others think of them and I think that's so beautiful!

In an IG live Olivia said they gave her a prompt for the song. Then her being the absolute musical genius she is she wrote that song the next day in under an hour.

ricky and gina are for sure going to have a big conversation and im thinking its probably going to be around the end of the season. knowing that gina basically confessed to him and had to deal with the comments from earlier episodes is heartbreaking but i genuinely think that ricky misinterpreted what she said to him on opening night and has been oblivious since. ricky can be dense but he would never be malicious enough to say those things to gina if he knew how much she liked him. i think ricky does have feelings for her but he hasn't realized it yet because he is so clung onto nini, i rlly cant see them focusing on this whole storyline about gina having feelings for ricky for half of the season so far just to end it with him "friendzoning" her.

This is definitely one of my favorite episodes! Fun Fact: The flashback between Ricky and Gina was filmed in 2019 and was going to be in the season 1 finale but was saved for this episode! The Rose Song is amazing!!

Up until this episode, I figured Ricky just didn't realize she liked him. Though the flash back changes that. So it just makes me wonder if he didn't think too much on it? Like Gina said, people say things when they think they won't see that person anymore, however there is still the fact people may also say things they don't necessarily mean when they get overly emotional. She was leaving and sure maybe they had their moment in season 1 but even Ricky admits he's not the same person he was when she had left which is why before this episode I figured he didn't know, cause if he got passed the possible small crush so could she. How I look at it, she had a small crush on him, she left, got over it, came back and saw him and just seeing him made her remember the crush, which is why she said what she did. It was kind of a "in the moment" type deal. Then knowing she had a chance to stay I feel like maybe messed with her head cause I know if I told someone something like that thinking I would never see them again then I have to see them all the time it would be on my head constantly and make me wonder if what I said was true or not. Even during their "moment" in season 1 I couldn't really see them being together. They seemed like they would just make great friends and that is it. I do feel if they just talked everything would just be so much better. I just hope they don't drag it out for too much longer.

Also Gryffindor! Got the robes along with about every other sort of memorabilia! Though I feel like I’m on the cusp of Hufflepuff, but primarily Gryffindor. I have a deathly hallows tattoo that I’ve seen you also represent, and the outline of the hogwarts castle that I got while at Harry Potter world in Florida. Have you been?

This episode had so many emotions, the season its just getting better as we go along❤️ I feel like Ricky could have a breakdown next ep he just needs let his emotions out and not keep bottling them up as he really hasn’t opened up to anyone . I’m guessing Nini and Ricky have an argument as from the trailer with Lilly she says looks like your gf wants some space as they are the same clothes from the trailer in ep 7 promo pics. Then hopefully Nini and Ricky talk and say to each other how they really feel . Olivia is truly magical and how she hits those high notes so effortless is beyond me just beautiful ! 😍

I think if they're going to write in a character having a panic attack Ricky's character would be the perfect choice.

12 episodes this season the last one is the very end of July. Miss Jen is the real MVP of this show though. She does everything possible to create a welcoming, loving, supportive environment for these kids. I am very interested in where the whole Nini and Ricky storyline is going and how Gina plays a role. I really appreciated the flashback giving us context as to why she’s felt so weird this season.
