Marston Swamps preview (Patreon)

I've begun working more seriously on the political/domestic events engine today, which includes finishing 0.8.2's big world content addition - Marston Swamps.

Sometimes called "The Heart of Ikaanos", Marston Swamps is the lost paradise-like park of our great pre-severance city, flooded by the merciless Red River several centuries ago. Little remains of the great craftsmen that once harbored here - except stubborn remnants of old factories and ruined houses.

Marston Swamps is in fact three district maps that the player can explore. Face off against enemies, unravel mysteries and hunt animals to gather food for your early-game household.

Marston Swamps can sometimes be flooded by other things than water. Raiders tend to travel the place in waves and it's a given stronghold for highwaymen and high-level raiders once Ikaanos' Control starts to plummet. Also be careful traveling through here during the nighttime!

This area is scheduled to be in the Alpha A3 (Tier4+) release in about 1.5 weeks!
