Leonidas

You having a crisis during roll back was a universal experience, also the "hydroplane" lyric sent me into orbit

Isabel

It's great to hear how much you loved this album!!!! To this day I cannot get over Shuhua in Flip It, it plays on repeat in my dreams.

SYFG

Thank you for this PD. Oh My God.. Miyeon seems unreal. Her voice is so expensive and expansive and POWERFUL. She sounds great in korean but something about her singing in english has me floating.... She had me gagged since Dumdi Dumdi... And Soyeon... its the god tier mindset she has..makes me believe she can achieve everything she puts her mind to. Soyeon was my biggest pull to GIDLE.. And then there's Yuqi and Minnie... their unique tone and colours and their fluency in english.. I loved Yuqi in Flip It and Minnie in I Want That. And then there's chic maknae Shuhua.... the way she's blossomed since debut, she's slowly coming into her own and this group just makes me so proud and emotional. They have really never strayed from their music despite everything... My favourite songs in this album are Eyes Roll and I Do.

SYFG

When is the Kulture Study going to be out for I Want That?

Marcel Wannieck

As much as I love all the songs on this EP, the track order was a mistake in my opinion. Going from the super emotional I Do directly into the twerkin-on-the-runway banger I Want That is so jarring. They should have put I Do at the end of the EP. Tall Trees would lead really nicely into I Do and the whole thing would flow so cohesively. That's really the only change I'd make and then this EP would be perfect.

I'm always so excited for your listening parties and you really made me happy with this one

ice4fresh

I really like the songs altogether. I'm still a bit bummed that that they aren't involved in the production process but they most likely didn't even have the time this year. Rumors have it that they will be coming back with another album by the end of the year or early next year so they're probably already preparing for that. And the best thing from the ep has to be Miyeon's vocals. She sounds better than ever on this and I'm so happy that a lot of people give her the attention she deserves.

Artist37

Appreciate all the content lately but just a Minor nitpick ... After several listening parties I have to say I'm not a fan of releasing the LP before all related Kulture Studies are released.... I've found myself not wanting to watch the LP when it drops, even though I still listen to it usually lol, kinda feels like a spoiler lol.

2023-10-10 15:09:12 Thanks, I'm not a fan of it AT ALL either. I miss the MV reactions that make me want to listen to an album, especially if the MV goes extremely well with the song...

wait but have they watch the mv thoo?

I haven’t watched PD‘s reaction yet but I’m listening to the album in the car and I’m at tall trees right now and I 100% agree with you. They should’ve adjusted the order. It would’ve flowed so much better.

Weirdly enough. “Eyes Roll” is EXACTLY the song and best style that I thought ITZY would go down once JYPE started to mature their image…

PD, please react to these links (about I DO): This NYC Skyline Performance Video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUro-rg2Uz8 And this live performance from The First Take: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zc3IhWwexNA The skyline one is amazing...

I LOVE this album. Weirdly, "I Want That" is the song that I had to listen to multiple times to really enjoy, even tho it's the promotion song. The other songs were just an instant HIT for me. G-IDLE is truly my ultimate favorite group

WiseSmellyLegs

Eyes Roll is definitely my the most favorite one of this EP. To be honest... I was worried/unsure about this EP, since not even SoYeon got involved in the production. And yes, it sounds different than their Korean music, but it's not really a problem, I guess? I mean, I would definitely prefer SoYeon to get involved after this EP in the future makings of their another US focused discography, but at the same time I don't have any problem with the fact that their US focused songs would sound differently, because this EP is really good! To be fair, I prefer I Feel more than Heat, but Heat was handled on a very good level, I have nothing against that. I would even say this might be the best US focused discography by a Kpop act 🤔🤔 Since you mentioned BLACKPINK... I was thinking the other day that in case BLACKPINK will be inactive for a longer time than it is usual for them (because they will most likely not renew with YG, but that's another topic on its own), I can imagine it will create a space for (G)i-dle to grow even more. And mind you! I don't mean it in a way: "They will replace BLACKPINK and BLACKPINK are gone for good", no... there will be a BLACKPINK comeback and people will go crazy. I would put this in comparison with Stray Kids and BTS' military enlistment. Stray Kids have been growing for a while regardless any other factors around, but with BTS' break, I feel like their whole momentum got to another level. And sure, we have their solos and the "Avengers-like comeback of BTS" will be fvcking crazy, so I am not saying Stray Kids are replacing them nor they are the "next BTS" (to be fair for the next "huge thing" as Kpop had BIGBANG before BTS, we will have to wait for a longer time, even though Stray Kids will be huge (even more than they are now)). And I think (G)i-dle's momentum can get to another level as well. Like... they will grow even more regardless BLACKPINK's situation, but I wouldn't be surprised if they became huger than we would expect, during this break of BLACKPINK.

Hrathen

If someone told me Gidle made this album solely for the Cyberpunk 2077 phantom liberty expansion for the car radio.... I'd believe you. Also at the 2 concerts I went in NY and London, I DO blew the entire crowd's mind Also Flip that is closest Soyeon brought back the Akali flow

WiseSmellyLegs

True. I meant my statement in a way that I know SoYeon can put in her music a deeper meaning, so I would like her to be able to do that here as well

Hrathen

Conversely I've noticed if there's not much of a deeper meaning, more creative freedom was given in these tracks in focusing on just being more sonically pleasing. Even if song ends up being shallower

Mint

Would double-like this comment if I could, what a great switch, that didn't really occur to me. You should've been in the room

Mint

You made an excellent point that the album is a good listen, so it may work on radio, but the music videos are kind of lacking. Didn't realize this was a common problem with 88rising. The MVs just lacked that sparkle that kpop mv producers manage to create so effortlessly

fmacattack

This was an evolution album... Much like sgt. Peppers was for the Beatles... This was their hidden gem.
