He auditioned for Super Star K in 2011 and though he didn't pass it, he got offers from 7 companies including BH, jyp, cube, woollim, starship etc. He chose BH after he saw a clip of RM rapping.

Hi family was very poor and he felt that he had to help out. So he auditioned for SuperStak K and got cut somewhere before the show aired. After that he got offers from seven different agencies; bighit was one of them. He went with BH because he saw a video on RM underground rapping and got inspired by him and signed to be with him.
