So glad this is here finally! ETA also got a music video and hopefully you go back and watch their self-titled song's M/V as well. The collab for that one was amazing!

Since they make such emphasis at the cupid painting, I imagine the MV is based on the greek mythology and relationship between Eros/Cupid (Hoyeon), psyche (Male lead) and Aphrodite (Tony Leung), I'll quote a comment I saw on Youtube about the possible relationship between the MV the and actual myths: "Aphrodite sent her son eros to make psyche fall in love with the most despicable creature ever on earth, because people said that psyche could compete with Aphrodite's beauty and thus abandon her temple. Aphrodite was a very jealous goddess when it came to beauty" So, a way to interpret the MV would be that Hoyeon as cupid is just doing her job, making people fall in love until she herself falls in love with psyche and longs for that love to be reciprocated. There's a theory that NewJeans represent the muses, which are goddesses who symbolize inspiration in the arts, science and literature. But also, in the case of the MV, could be watching over cupid, making sure she does her job, so as soon as Hoyeon turns human, since the muses sing about cupid's life, I guess Aphrodite (Tony) finds out, comes to earth and makes psyche fall in love with someone else (be it as punishment towards cupid for not doing her job or just out of jealousy, who knows haha). The last part might be interpreted as Hoyeon accepting her fate as Cupid as she watches the muses sing and getting back to her duties (that's maybe why we see her dressed in black once again as she walks away)

I love these videos so much. Paired with the song it leaves such a weird mixture of feelings with me. I was really invested into the video from the first second

The way i screamed when Tony Leung came out-- I was shocked!! There were rumours of Hoyeon and V from BTS as cameos, but TONY FREAKING LEUNG?? The scale >>>>

psyche from this story is in the ep&bw le sserafim song. Hybe multiverse🤔

I've yet to see anyone say this but I'm pretty sure Newjeans and thus the song itself are supposed to be a Greek chorus to the Hoyeon (Cupid), Tony Leung (Aphrodite), and Psyche story. A Greek chorus is a group of performers who speak in collective voice, commenting on the action happening in a Greek play. They would dance and sing or speak lines of the play - think of the muses from the Hercules movie, their function within the movie was a Greek chorus. Truly obsessed with the entire concept and the song though, really really smart.

Hi PD are you interested in NewJeans as guests in IU's Palette show? https://youtube.com/watch?v=MSQhnXRdECs

They have a great vocal performance of one of IU's songs
