PLEASE re-watch Loud with Blaire she will lose her MINDDDD

You made me so nervous at the beginning of this listening party!! Suddenly I thought: “Oh no!! What if I just ruined the whole listening experience by the recommendation??”. I thought you will listen to it in that order on your own after knowing the EP, but I am glad you see my point and the whole vibe of this listening order was good! When you were speaking about Move as their debut and you mentioned Koki not being there, that reminded me one thing! In Move I can totally see Koki there dancing-wise, singing-wise and in general… (I literally can hear him in my head saying the line: “비켜라, 비켜”…”). But here in Love or Die? I am not saying he would be bad here, but this truly feels like a better debut for this group formed without him. It’s hard to say how things were at that time after LOUD and what was planned etc, I can only say PSY definitely wanted to keep Koki until the very last moment (they cut him off from the debut line just a few days before his birthday… so they could avoid the moment of “celebrating his birthday (as they did with other members) and then suddenly taking him out from the group), because throughout LOUD and mainly based on his own (PSY’s) speech at the very end he really loved Koki. But the thing I am trying to say is that they might have not know the direction of the group? As I said, it’s hard to say… definitely the whole direction of the group wasn’t based on Koki… but maybe they just didn’t know, what they want to do? Or plans started to change too quick? I don’t know… With their debut I didn’t want to assume anything, because my opinions were definitely biased by the fact of Koki not being there, but looking at it now after nearly a year (and listening to Love Never Dies) their debut really felt like: “Cool, it’s good! But… that’s it?”, because I knew from LOUD what they are capable of! Mainly composing-wise with EunHwi… I mean, my god! TOY STORY or CChill (that song from the second round with Kim Dong Hyun (later Team P Nation member) and Justin Kim… you said it felt like some small/young Show Me The Money stage). But here it somehow feels like: “We are fully aware of what we want to do with this group!” And sure, they cannot go on forever with the PSY name being attached to them. But as PSY said and compared his attitude to the Native Americans and their 100% success of rainmaking dance: “You will be successful, because I will support you until you are successful” Basically here I can feel PSY is really chasing the promise he gave them! And I love him for that so much! P Nation really means a lot for him, but TNX are truly like his sons! OMG… now when I used the word: “sons”… PSY is like you, JaeHyuk, during watching Boys Planet 😹😹 🤔🤔 Before TXT and (G)i-dle I would say BTS with Fake Love brought back the rock element to Kpop again! And good point with B.A.P! This is actually really interesting fact, because in many ways B.A.P are seen as the ones, who could have gone the similar/same round of growing popularity as BTS did. So it is interesting to think about it also from the music perspective! Also… you were probably talking about the “recent” years in Kpop, when you mentioned B.A.P and BTS as the first group of doing this style. But if we are talking about Kpop with its full history, Super Junior comes to my minds. I mean their early years. Like Twins (Knock Out), Don’t Don or sort of U as well. Also H.O.T. may have some rock-ish influence, but in their case their concept changed every album, so it wasn’t really that “iconic” for them as for the groups you and I mentioned.

WiseSmellyLegs

I totally agree! I love Blaire being on this video! On YouTube they made a post about Blaire joining the reactions from now on and this is exactly the example of what I like about her and her perspective on music (here mainly in the discussion about EunHwi’s voice)

Irving

what you said about I need U is exactly the concept for this album, like teen young love and harships of teenage love. they really nailed this, like I feel like this album is so cohesive. Personally is my favorite comeback of the year, in terms of title track/album/concept/MV. and I need them to drop the full version of dda dda dda. TNX has that x factor and can be really big And btw I love how a 16 min mini album turned into a 1 hour and 30 min video lmao

WiseSmellyLegs

I would not label TNX as the next BTS (I know you explain how you meant it). But still, I would rather compare them to Ateez. Like the group that will make the name for their label, so people will recognize the label as a true Kpop label and not the “PSY’s label with “veterans” of the Korean music scene”. I mean, sure KQ might have been known somehow before Ateez, because KQ was created by Kim Gyu Wook, who is the founder of Seven Seasons (which was created for Block B after they left Stardom Ent.) and because of that some people may know about this label, since it became Seven Seasons “mother company”, but to be fair before Ateez I didn’t notice this 😅😅 But interesting comparison of EunHwi to Suga! I totally see their rap style being really similar/the same and musical background there of both of them as well! You know what it brought to my mind? RM’s articulation and diction is like Daniel’s! Wow! EunHwi and Daniel would be like RM and Suga and HyunSoo could have been like J-Hope in the way as Blaire said J-Hope was a singer at first, when he joined the label. And that’s one sad thing about TNX. I don’t want to bring up the topic of eliminated members. But EunHwi is the only true rapper there. JunHyeok was actually pretty good in LOUD with his rap lines, although he was taught to rap during training, rather than being like EunHwi. But obviously they use JunHyeok as the main vocal of this group rather than the next/lead rapper of this group. And with KyungJun… I don’t know if he has it to get there. For example with HyunSoo I didn’t see it in him at first, but during my second and third watch of LOUD I was like: “Hell yeah! He has the potential to be a really good rapper. You, PD, once said: “He is like Mark Lee without knowing of having the passion for rap”. But for some reason they don’t use HyunSoo for rap parts as they do with KyungJun. And because of that this group feels like they have way less rappers than groups like BTS or Stray Kids. Also… during looking for the credits you skipped DDA DDA DDA being 100% only EunHwi’s song. Like top to bottom!

WiseSmellyLegs

My first reaction was: “What is the length of this video!! 👌🏾👌🏾” DDA DDA DDA full version has my interest as well! I mean, what is the reason to provide as only the short version? What more if it is fully done by EunHwi… like what is his plan with it??

WiseSmellyLegs

MY GOD!! 13?? Bro, Indigo and Face level?? I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING!! But well, I am so glad you are keeping up with this group. Because of your life situation I started to assume (and also understand) that you will not have enough time to pay attention to them, since it didn’t seem like you would be reacting to this comeback. I am glad, because TNX is a special group for me. Although it’s a weird relationship to be honest… I don’t follow groups from their pre-debut years. The only one is BLACKPINK, but that was more like: “I loved 2NE1 so much, so I was curious for the next YG girl group”, so I was waiting for those years of all the hints that the group may debut “soon”. (And also I could count NCT, since I watched the New Culture Technology keynote, where they were introduced as the Neo Culture Technology group of this “SM’s new wave”, but that was just like 2 months before their debut…). But TNX is the first group, which I follow truly from the beginnings through some content like a survival show, which is LOUD in this case. And since I watched LOUD 3 times, I really know this group and their background. But with that comes the fact that Koki was taken out and although I am trying to put that aside and don’t be attached to that, it’s not that easy… imagine not just YOUR SONS not making it, but imagine them being taken out from the line up so randomly out of nowhere… wouldn’t you go insane?? 😅😅 So I am really involved in the growth and career of this group, but it still has the bitter-sweet feeling. But as I mentioned and as you said this EP really feels like it was made for them, for this group as they are formed now and that somehow helps, I guess? I mean, I can still imagine Koki rocking it with them here, because he was always able to pull off any concept, any role, any style was needed, but this comeback really felt like done to fit this formation of this group. And if they keep on doing it like this… man, they will be epic!

WiseSmellyLegs

About the global push… well nowadays all survival shows are presented as “we are making a global (pop) group”, but LOUD back in 2020 was one of the first ones to say that and they had auditions for anyone from the whole world (as Boys Planet had for example) the only condition was being a male born 2000 or younger. Because of that I was assuming both JYPSY would go the global round with them. With JYP we have to wait (also, it will be 2 years since the show started, now we are around 1 year and half since it ended, but sure… JYP is taking his time with that group…). But with PSY I really wonder why he didn’t do that. As you said… right from the beginning with their debut, but at least with this EP! Right after the first listening to Love or Die, I was thinking it has the US vibe in it. And I agree, with his name he could have gotten them anywhere in the US or in the rest of the world… Also Slingshot would have been phenomenal debut song! It is my the most favorite one! As Blaire said, it is hard to compare these songs here, but my order is the same as yours. As you said you want TNX to be like BTS, to be the only group for a long time in the label. You mentioned GLAM… just to make it clear, they were under Source Music, but they were produced (I don’t know if like trained or if it is meant like their music was produced) by Big Hit, so it was like the other way round situation of 2AM being under Big Hit, but initially started of JYP’s program. But besides that! I would expect P Nation to debut a girl group in about two years. Since not just last year but girl groups are just getting bigger and bigger in general. Also PSY is in touch with SoYeon and since (G)i-dle is really open about not staying with Cube, I wouldn’t be surprised if SoYeon or whole (G)i-dle would join P Nation (in 2025) and after that they would debut a new girl group, where SoYeon would be included as their producer. Speaking of a new boy group. Well that would make sense to keep TNX as the only boy group for a while. I don’t know if 6 years are possible as in case of TXT after BTS. But maybe like 5, so that would be 2027. The only thing is Koki… and I am not saying this from a biased point of view. But did they really promise him to keep him and debut later on in a way: “It will be after 5 years, don’t worry”?? And if they really did that, why would he stay there? (And also Kim Dong Hyun rejoined P Nation after LOUD)… So to be fair, I don’t know about that. Like… sure, I could agree with your words and it would make sense, but on the other hand based on these facts I am not 100% sure. Because if the second boy group is created of Koki and Kim Dong Hyun, they could create an interesting connection between those two groups as Enhypen and &Team has! Man… just imagine recasting Yedam to that group!!

i feel like Kyungjun fit this album rly well! like his voice and attitude is what seperates him from the others ✨ ever since i watched LOUD Kyungjun caught my eye the most, probably because i related to him with the whole introvert/shy thing, so im just always extra happy when he raps or sings :D

Love Or Die (and the overall album) was MADE for tnx. And I totally agree with the BTS comparison. It's crazy : Hwi has both incredible raw talent AND PRODUCING, then the members all have these amazing charms and skills, and if you think about it they have many BTS traits in a way that I havent seen in a while, like each member emulates parts of BTS members (Junhyeok reminds me of JK, Hwi of Suga, etc.). Also I think Hwi being so involved in the creative process has lots to do with how much this album represents TNX

WiseSmellyLegs

I think I remember you from comments under LOUD videos, if I am correct. The thing I am not sure with KyungJun is him being a rapper. I mean, in Move I started to think he started to get better but here I still don’t know… and in general I would prefer him to be more focused on singing and dancing in TNX than rapping, so for example HyunSoo could show his rapping skills. PD phrased it very well after KyungJun’s performance with Good Boy, he said something like: “While he is rapping, it feels like he is just saying words fast”, whereas with HyunSoo it really felt on a different level.

WiseSmellyLegs

🤔🤔 JunHyeok as JungKook! Good point, I haven’t thought about that on my own, but now I see it there as too! As JYP used to say in LOUD: “JunHyeok is perfect as always, there’s nothing more to add”

wasn't ready has been on repeat forever its so good

h

'wasn't ready' solely got my friend to finally stan tnx lol. the entire ep is so good and was made for the boys. they really outdid themselves and is proof to never judge a group by their debut but what they show after, since i felt their debut was a little safe. this is genulnely one of the best releases this year so far and i really wish more people would check it out but i trust my boys on their slow but steady journey.

I am more of the 2nd gen of kpop than the 3rd, because I don't know much about BTS but I can say that Hwi, for me... I compare him more with GDragon and he reminds me a lot of him. From his rapping to the way he sings, composes, produces, designs... I don't know for me Hwi is how Gdragon is, but well, GDragon became known since he was a child... and yeah! We are waiting for the long version of Dda Dda Dda, it is a totally Hwi song but he already told us that he is working with it... And I hope you can listen to the OTS that TNX just released, and I would also love for you to see Loud and know with Blaire look to see your reaction but it seems the videos are already deleted... so yeah!! Love this album.

Somehow I missed your reaction to this album and now the link isn't working! After finding out this is PD's ALBUM OF THE YEAR I was like hold up when did he react to this. Can't wait to see his expression of this EP it is literally SOOOOOO good! Literally I have to decide between ZB1, ONEPACT, TNX, TBZ, and TXT for album of the year but those are definitely top albums for me also FACE is in my top but I don't think it was number one yet for me!!!
