I’ve been wanting to re-watch this for a while but I haven’t really had much motivation, was thinking about finding a creator/group and watching it with them and let me just say I am really happy I kept putting it off so that I’m now watching it with you guys Their studio did change, from Wit to Mappa at the beginning of the final season The gear is called omni-directional mobility gear, or ODM Gear for short Not sure if the action of doing it is called something though

This is definitely one of those shows you do not want a single spoiler on. Even if the slightest of spoilers pour through, it could easily influence your theories throughout this entire series. So try and skip any comments that you believe are delving into spoiler territory. I don't think anybody would do such a thing, but I am going to warn you nonetheless. Enjoy the show as if you did not know a single thing going into it as best as you can or else you'll be easily influenced.

AOT is a classic but I will be sitting that one out. I understand why it gets the hype but at the same time I only enjoy the character writing of 2-3 people (doesn't matter if they're good or evil) and everyone else in that anime just annoys me. The story also has the same problem a lot of famous young adult fantasy novels/movies/animes like The Hunger Games or Naruto seem to stumble over. It all starts in a well thought out fixed setting until that gets too "boring" and we get one too many plottwists, betrayals etc. and the plot and the characters reactions and relations just become hella unrealistic even for fantasy.

What attracts me to AOT is actually how the story connects from start to finish. It's my favorite show to rewatch because you can notice the smallest details and forshadowing of shit in like the third season. Btw this will be my fifth time rewatching it and I've read the manga only once. o_O

Fan Fact: Carla (Eren’ mother) said: “My legs are crushed…”, but actually we were able to see her legs were not crushed… How come? She said that just to sacrifice herself for them… And it’s not a mistake of the creators of the show or animators… Hajime Isayama (the mangaka of Shingeki No Kyojin) is involved in the anime adaptation and there are some parts like foreshadowing things in the endings, which were about to happen in manga in that time. Like he didn’t put some of his ideas into the manga at that time yet, but he knew he will do that, so in the anime he foreshadowed things, which himself was about to do yet in the manga. Your words: “Was the opening always so good and intense??” Reminded of myself watching the anime for the first time and seeing that opening and wanting to see it again during the whole episode and although the show is perfect, I basically binged the whole season because of the opening. I remember at that time I wasn’t using any DSP (Digital Service Provider, like Apple Music and Spotify), so I had downloaded around 1 hour long version of Guren no Yumiya (the first opening) and I was listening to that without a break! But not just Revo and his project/group Linked Horizon (the creator of the opening), but the soundtrack composer Hiroyuki Sawano!! Man, I just love his work here. Also the way he thinks about the naming of the songs! For example: “凸】♀】♂】←巨人” (Just to make it clear, this explanation is from reddit, I wasn’t able to decode it on my own…): At the end, the characters "巨人" are "Kyojin", or "Titan". The "decoded" title would be something akin to "凸】♀】♂】←Titan", but this doesn't give you much information, does it? Basically, the idea behind the title is that each 】is one of the three walls, and the 凸 is supposed to represent a castle. The arrow pointing left indicates that the titan is moving towards these walls. In the simplest way possible, I would title this "Titan Advancing Through the Walls to the Castle". Never thought I'd see an entire "scene" described in a track title. To say it simply… I love this show so much and I am so glad you started to watch it, thank you!! Also… every single scene gets so much deeper after knowing the story and everything. This is truly a PIECE OF ART

Okay, I was thinking I will not write anything during your spoiler section by the end, but actually I will make it slightly clear for you. I am writing it here under my first comment to make it easier to avoid spoilers for those, who haven't seen the first season, but in case any of you is reading it here, STOP!! . . . . During the first season only the Female Titan shifter (Annie Leonhart) is fully revealed (shifter means a human, who can transform into those titans), but you will be able to guess the Armored Titan and the Colossal Titan as well. I mean, with the Colossal Titan I wasn't 100% sure as I was with the Female Titan and Armored Titan, because I remember I had a theory that the shifter of the Colossal Titan might have died by accident. But beside that it's not that hard to guess. Or I mean... I don't want to sound like I am super smart, but since I know you have seen enough shows and movies, so you will notice small hints here and there. I don't want to spoil you the two shifters, but since you know/remember it was a strong German name (of the Armored one), I can tell it's Reiner Braun. Speaking of German names/Germany... the Shiganshina town is actually inspired by Nördlingen which is a real-life city located on the south side of Germany. The reason why Blaire was thinking Annie was the Armored one, is because she used hardening on her body and that's an ability, which is possible to learn/get by other titans as well (I think all of them in a way). The main difference between this ability and the Armored Titan is that its body is armored on its own and there is no need to focus on creating the hardening or learning to use it. Alright... you started to talk about the other seasons... So even bigger spoiler from those who haven't seen the rest!! . . . . You mentioned "the Colossal Titan" in the beginning of the episode. I didn't want to say anything about it, but since you know more than I would expect, I can tell yes, the other Colossal Titans are there as well, but there is a difference between those random titans, those shifter titans and then those other Colossal Titans, but you will get into that. Oh! You know about Armin... MAN! That moment is ground breaking!! Like not in an epice way, but like: "FUCK! This is just so wrong" Hmm... I will not speak about the basement. Even if you remember a bit more during watching the show, it will be still better and easier not to tell everything. About Eren. That dude is so complex. It is not just "turning from protagonist into a villain", he could be basically everything and it all depends on the point of view you are looking at him based on your worldviews. Oh, you know about obtaining a titan. I didn't have to explain the term shifter, but I will say the way Eren obtains more titans and the reasons around that are not really like intentional. Like in some cases it was obviously on purpose, but the term "becoming a Pokémon trainer" is more like a joke rather than a true definition of the situation.

So stoked that you’re checking out AoT! I’ve always viewed AoT as an anime about politics, and the action/thriller parts are just the cherries on top. I think y’all love it even more once you get into the later parts!

I don't know how I've avoided it for this long but here we are... also thanks as always for the spoiler warning at the end - I know literally nothing about this show going in except that there are hecking big dudes, so I'm enjoying starting this with no expectations whatsoever
