the most explanation I've found when i watched the first time to why muzan looks so much like michael jackson is that this type of outfit and hat were very often used by the mafia in that era and mj used this look for smooth criminal so it is said that he is inspired by the mafia look and not directly to michael also they mentioned in the anime that they're in the taisho era which is more or less between 1915-1925

Like they said in the previous comment, it's the Taisho era, which went from 1912-1926. When they fought at the final selection, that's what got the hand demon angry, since he's been in there so long it transitioned into the Taisho from the Meiji period. Also, if you ever watch the after credit skits, they're called Taisho secrets!
