its finally here!

Nico Engels

Refresh crew for the last episode. Lets get it! The 18 member girlgroup comment was exactly my reaction at the exact same time. I was like "Just debut both Team 1 and Team 2" lmao

ice4fresh

These will be the best 4 hours of my week.

Daniela Madrid

Yesss can’t wait to watch this!

Anonymous

It’s here, let’s go!

Emily L.

Ooh it’s here! My final pre-watch comment for GP999 is despite the technical issues they obviously had when announcing the 8th rank, the rest had paced out well enough that I consider them 2nd quickest. I-LAND is still fastest in terms of final rank announcements! If you don’t think so, then you don’t know the horrors of sitting through ANY of the Produce season finales bc that is true waiting pain 😭

Wiktor

I shed tears because of Wen Zhe and her story. Her growth on me was insane. I grew to love her so much and a massive part off it, had to have been her 'real' personality. She always have had felt real.

Wiktor

I do feel like having Suyeon being spoiled early on. is the WORST contestant to be spoiled in the finale for 😭 the ANXIETY I got watching it live and having to watch the FINAL member be chosen. I WENT THROUGH IT.

Chrispy

Hey PD not sure you know this but Myah is with TOP Media ,theres nothing about a new gg from them but when they do announce it just letting you know so that you don't miss them casue TOP isnt that big of a company

Lex.

I'm sorry but I really didn't get into the Bahiyyih train. I don't hate that she debuted but I hate that others did not in this group. Yes, her sibling did like 50% of the job for her but i wanted for her to ace that other 50% but based on that show she really lacked in terms of stage presence, great abilities. I don't have a problem with the fact that she had an advantage but I feel like she did not show anything excited in this show. She was just "there" for a lot of performances. If it was based on the producers votes I don't think she would have debuted.

yiren

its been a wild ride with you

nic

I think this line-up was best case scenario. There were some girls (though I loved) that I didn't think would fit with the others. This line-up feels completely balanced. Though I definitely love Yurina and was disappointed, I think Kep1er has managed to feel like a perfect group.

Anonymous

Well, hadn’t she debuted the group would definitely not be as popular as it is. You can tell by the views in her fancams that she has many people supporting her. Maybe the producers wouldn’t have debuted her into the group if they had had the last word, but that would have been very stupid of them considering that she was the most voted trainee in the final voting period. I do agree with you that she didn’t show that much potential skill wise during the show. But the same could be said about Izone’s Hyewon and now it’s impossible to imagine Izone without her, even if she never developed any stage presence or abilities. Sometimes being a kpop idol is not only about talent or stage presence 🤷🏻‍♀️

Deniz Ak

yurina kinda reminds me of oh soo ah from itaewon class

ice4fresh

Also PD, orange juice is NOT overrated??!?!?!

Elisa

can we please talk about bahiyyih missing in this episode ? they clearly aren't showing her on purpose until the final lineup is announced. when they were watching the videos outside they didn't show her video and she had barely 3s of screen time!! idk what's happening but even in the debut she was almost not singing and had no screen time until half way through the mv.

ThatPatreonThough

I remember there being Knetizen “backlash” on Twitter around Yurina around episode 8-9 in that it “didn’t seem” like she was trying to learn Korean like the other trainees. She almost exclusively spoke in Japanese, which turned some k-voters off from her, while Mashiro is fluent because of JYP and Hikaru constantly trying to speak Korean in most circumstances unless when talking to J-group girls. I think that was a big reason she didn’t even make it close to final Top 9.

stylesniklaus

I ugly cried when Hiyyih was called, i was so happy and proud her!!! Sadly, the feeling did not last long since the next week, after the lineup was announced, was pure hell: i wanted to protect her so much but the amount of hate she received it still makes me mad... We are talking about de*th threat and bullying (i have never seen an idol treated like that...) but also spamming the same de*th threat during Huening Kai vlive after the result... I was so scared for her, I wanted her to debut so bad but it made me feel sad that I was partially responsable for that, by voting her in... Now, it seems to be a little much more calm and she's getting a lot of recognization from outsiders, you just have to look at the number she's pulling for her fancams (and the fact that she is one of the funniest member in Kep1er)!!! Anyway, i love this lineup and i wouldn't change it for anything!!! Glad that we shared this with the whole Patreon and you PD!!

stylesniklaus

and she really said "you better watch me and regret every single word you said" when the dazed korea video dropped!!! THE PRESENCE SHE HAS >>> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSJpZhkcMfc

ThatPatreonThough

PD gonna be very surprised with their ages. The fact that Youngeun is 2nd youngest in Kep1er THREW ME OFF.

Mia

I totally get what you said about Xiaoting! She is not the best vocalist or has the best dance skills but she is a hell of a performer who feels comfortable on stage. I never check out fancams but I do enjoy hers because she keeps her gaze throughout the whole performance. Dayeon grew on me a lot after the debut and I feel sorry for all the hate she got for being "mnet favorite child" because she is such an ace.

anejelly

PD and I have the same exact line up! Was also rooting for Sui Ruqi and Yurina but ultimately like you knowing that this was fan voting and that it was really in favor for the kgroup there possibly only two japanese and one chinese member. I'm honestly just glad that all my top three (youngeun, mashiro, and hikaru) made it in the debut line up. Xiaoting is definitely one of the best contestant in this show. She literally completes the group. If this reaction was uploaded way before they debuted I would probably have way more things to say because ofcourse initially there was disappointment in us as a fan but as I get to know them more now both on variety and performing as a group I'm so inlove with the line up. They have great chemistry together and I'm looking forward to the type of music this group will release. This show reminds me as to why I really hate watching survival show before they debut. I watched YGTB before Treasure debuted and it was really painfull initially when Mashiho wasn't part of the debut group and on the otherhand I watched I-land after they debuted so I know exactly who the members are and I wasn't as attached to the other contestant. All in all I'm still glad I decided to watch this because there are a lot of talented girls in here. I'm looking forward to Jia, Shana, Yurina, Ruiqi, Myah the most. I also heard there's a boys version for this and yes I do understand that knetz are the most targeted audience here but the voting should really be fair for the global fans too.

laura

You know it's kinda funny.. Myah has been my favorite ever since her audition in episode 1, I literally voted for her every single day but when the 3 candidates for 9th place were announced, I was really praying Xiaoting would make it. No one can deny that she was the face of Girls Planet 999, I truly think her not debuting would've been Kep1er's biggest loss. Myah's also still really young, she has so much potential, I really hope her company doesn't waste that. I'm really looking forward to her future debut, she's a star in my eyes. Overall 7/9 of the Kep1er members were part of my ideal lineup so I am really happy with how everything ended up. ((Despite all of that I can't deny Myah's elimination still hurt a lil))

Anonymous

I'm in a lecture right now (university sucks), I'll be back in a couple hours

grace

my personal line up was 1. dayeon 2. xiaoting 3. yujin 4. yongeun 5. chaehyun 6. hikaru 7. mashiro 8. ruiqi 9. yurina with that being said, I still love how it turned out and will continue to support all of the girls!

Serena

it was already announced that Shana will be debuting in the upcoming MLD girlgroup :)

Serena

this show was a ride even rewatching it here again like jesus. my favourite on the show was always yujin and i cried so much when she made it. and with time i grew to love hikaru and bahiyyih so much so i was just sobbing when they all made it. for me now having seen all the kep1er content this lineup is amazing and im in love with all the girls 💗 cant wait to see whats coming in the future

ThatPatreonThough

The thing about the voting. Yes, Korean voters should have more of a say, but the way they did it was wack. It wasn’t a value. It was a ratio. Meaning, the amount of Korean voters could remain the same but if more international people voted with each round, the Korean votes would gain more power. It should’ve been like every Korean vote is worth 10 votes or something like that. Something static not dynamic.

Fayyezz

the show had more intl fans voting and watching, which made the korean votes even stronger as well.

Daniela Madrid

Wow that was a journey!! I was the happiest person in the world when bahiyyih ranked second place cause she was always 50/50 of getting in but I always stuck by her voted every single time and she made it!!! I mean as you’ve seen by now with their performances bahiyyih has grown so much with her stage presence especially in MVSK. I can’t wait for her to grow in the industry. I will always protect so anyone that hates on her I’ll have a talk with you:) Now xiao ting, it’s unfortunate that she ranked 9th when she obviously should’ve ranked higher like in previous rankings but there is another reason why she ranked low. While your reasonings make sense the reason she ranked low was because the majority of her fans had the same mindset of thinking she’ll be okay in votes so they decided to vote for another trainee in hopes of saving them but in doing so cause xiaotings rank to drop drastically cause in the mid voting ranks she was like 15th I think and that’s when people were like omg we have to vote for her again and that applies to a lot of the trainees/members the ranks change drastically!! But I’m happy she was still able to debut. Also her situation reminded me sooo much of sunoo’s rank drop in I-land because he always ranked 1st when it came to fan votes but in the final ranking he fell out of the debut group ranking but lucky was saved by the producers. His fans thought he was safe and voted for others and this happened. This also applies to how bahiyyih was able to rank 2nd because she had the most loyal and still I think has the most loyal fan base. We constantly voted for her and had other filler votes(when we could vote for 3 people) but when it was vote for one person we hiyyihlights (her fandom) were pretty confident because since the beginning her votes have been steady. Also I feel besides bahiyyih’s talent she plays a big role in kep1er as being a social butterfly and funny member as you’ll come to find out when you watch Kep1er content!!

Annika

Myah is in TOP Media together with jeongmin. Theres no news of them debuting gg as of now but I mean myah is still so young. Shana is definitely debuting in MLD's new gg, looking forward to it. Also what u said about clc & cube. I understand that its not always the companies fault but I follow most cube artists and lets be real... is there even one artist in cube that didnt get fucked over at least once? The way they treated hyuna, dawn with pentagon, now (g)-idle and the soojin drama, cubes favorite thing to do is just throw members or artists out instead of protecting them. At least if you compare it to other companies who actually do everything to protect their artists. And following what yujin said about clc, how sorn & other clc members talk about clc, they truly all love each other and I believe they really wanted to be together and be successful and cube just gave up on them at some point. But yeah who knows what the real reasons are

dylan

I went through all 420 stages of grief during this results announcement LMAO, but man I'm still so glad Xiaoting made it! Not even my one pick for most of the show but now fully my ult bias <3

Wiktor

Fun Fact 3 Cells from the start made it together to the end: Yurina - Youngeun - Xiaoting // Fu Yaning - Shana - Suyeon // Xingqiao - Yeseo - Mashiro

Christian Oettl

There were some things that actually turn of the Livestream back then after the announcement of the top 2: 1. They did change the weight of the Korean votes vs. the international votes only for the finale which did favor the Korean Trainees. The numbers are out there, while it wouldn't completely change the rankings it changes some positions 2. I personally feel like after her taking 1st Place Yurina just never got the screentime she got before that, but maybe that's just me. 3. I have nothing against Bahiyyih and she definitely didn't deserve the hate she got after this, but this show really didn't help because she was barely shown and it felt like basically MOAs vs. everyone else instead of her showing her talent and growth deserving to debut, and especially in the Top 2. Generally I have to say I'm happy with most of the lineup but if I had to change members I would put in are Yurina (already idol in the past, was ready IMO, also had great chemistry with Xiao Ting) and one out of Ya Ning or Rui Qi (who had some backlash because of her pro-chinese comments) just so there is an actual 2nd chinese member. For them I would eliminate Bahiyyih (who IMHO could need some more training overall and was almost eliminated before) and Youngeun (I know you love her, she just never really grew on me). It would set the group still with a majority of Korean members. I really would've loved Bora making it because she was just the total package and an incredible leader. Wen Zhe I really hope to see again, her variety sense and humour are fanttastic. And man would I have loved a Hikaru Cai Bing rap duo, they would be absolute killer.

M

I always thought they should have a forced ratio of 2J/2C/2K and then have the last 3 be the ones with the most points (with the same voting system, so Korean votes would count for more). Because omg the backlash (justified too) there would have been if not even one Chinese girl had made the lineup. My top 9 was this (after following Kep1er for awhile, I grew to really love both Bahiyyih and Chaehyun despite not particularly cheering for them while the show was going on): 1) Xiaoting 2) Dayeon 3) Mashiro 4) Hikaru 5) Yeseo 6) Yougeun 7) Su Ruiqi 8) Yujin 9) Yurina

I have to get my thoughts in before watching this in full (as of this writing, I'm watching the O.O.O performance). If there was one thing that I can truly say Mnet did right, was that lack of emphasis towards the companies of these girls. I mostly have no idea which companies are they trainees of, save for a select few. This, in turn, resulted in a better focus towards the girls themselves rather than the company they are affiliated with, unlike in the Produce series where you get reminded of their company every now and then.

Anonymous

Some notes I had during the discussion part: 1) There really weren’t a lot of chances to actively choose to show new things. Demo performances were arranged by Mnet, from songs to teams, first mission had most of the girls unable to choose a song they wanted, second mission was the closest they had to a freedom of choice, and the rest were arranged by external voting or chance. 2) As for Yeongeun’s dude-ish personality, on one of the vlives a comment called her Youngeun-oppa (intentionally, I think), and she kind of enjoyed it, it was fun. She’s also the one who can catch bugs in the group (everyone else is scared), so she’s really a reliable oppa in a way. 3) People on Reddit did some major MATH and counted up the votes without the ratio, here https://www.reddit.com/r/GirlsPlanet999/comments/qdlcaw/estimating_korean_and_global_votes/ As a shortcut, if votes were counted equally, there would’ve been no Dayeon and Yeseo in the lineup, but we could’ve had Yaning and Ruiqi instead. Here’s the order: Bahiyyih Mashiro Youngeun Yujin Xiaoting Yaning Ruiqi Hikaru Chaehyun Idk what you’ll make of it. I’m a bit glad Bahiyyih didn’t get the additional hate of being first. 4) I really want more Kep1er variety. Girls get along surprisingly smoothly, in a way I’ve never seen new groups’ members work with each other, and they are adorable and hilarious.

Rebecca Le Minh

The fact that Youngeun was my favourite from beginning to end and that I learnt super late that she was born in 2004 blew my mind because of how mature, smart, and talented she is

lllllllllllalaaa

thank you for the reaction pd! gotta catch up the kep1er content now :))) can we expect a kep1er content marathon since there is litteraly content coming out every single day?

cynthia li

PD's absolute chill and cockiness once Youngeun was announced, turning into absolute panic when Xiaoting wasn't in the top 2, was very funny as someone who knew SXT would make it. However, those were absolutely my feelings the first time around, so, RELATABLE.

Leen

Oh im still mad that Xiaoting ranked 9th :(

Anonymous

Personally, as a wanna one Stan I definitely think that this lineup of Kep1er reminds me of X1. Open till that point there hadn't been a survival show group that I felt had all of the makings to be an amazing K-pop. Like with wannaone, there were some members at the beginning that I felt weren't as polished snd my the end you could really see their talents and how far they had come. With X1 (to me at least), it was very clear in the beginning that every member was already proficient in their talents and that's why I think their debut was such a success. All of them felt like already seasoned idols and it was very clear that the group had proficient main rappers/dancers/vocalists/leaders, like it was all just so clear from the get-go. I have a similar feeling with Kep1er, when it comes to Hikaru, Chaehyun. Yu Jin, Dayeo, and the others, their talents are so out of this world it makes sense. 2) when it comes to the voting I don't disagree with Koreans having more weight in the votes if that was the clear intentions from the beginning. This is now the second show where MNet has brought international trainees to Korea to train and debut in a K-pop group only to end up with fewer foreign members than Twice. With the voting, I don't disagree with Koreans having more weight in the votes if that was the clear intention from the beginning, and this was just showing as a K-pop group allowing international trainees to participate. This is the second show where MNet has brought international trainees to Korea to train and debut in a K-pop group only to end up with less foreign members than Twice. Everyone knows how Korea feels about Chinese idols and trainees so people should've expected something like this would happen from the beginning, however it is nevertheless disheartening. I think in terms of "international votes" I couldn't care less about American or European votes however if you are going to make this a global girl group and bring in trainees from China and Japan the votes from China and Japan should be equal to the Korean votes. Without that, there was no way the group wouldn't be made of Korean trainees. 3) Nearly all of my top pics made it into the final lineup, aside from a few like Yurina. In regards to Bahi, I 100% do not agree with the hate that she's been given, I think anyone who was that pressed and obsessed with the voting and certain people being in the group versus not shouldn't be so invested. At the end of the day it's just K-pop it's not that serious. I am just quite annoyed with a lot of her "fans" because I don't think it's fair to compare her situation to Yu Jin or any of the other previously debuted idols because being famous for your talents and for the work you've put into other groups is completely different than being famous for your brother. And I think that's something that her "fans" don't realize and when a lot of them either say that she is the only reason why the group is successful it only makes a further divide between her and the group and that's in no way helpful. I do think that she is really talented and I am excited to see her growth in the group because she's already a really stable vocalist and a decent dancer. Not to spoil much but a lot of the similar criticisms of girls planet 999 were brought up during produce 48 so I think a lot of people having watched both shows are kind of just fed up with M Net's shenanigans. You don't have to do this on camera, but I do suggest that you listen to the comments of some C group trainees that they have discussed after being eliminated on the show and just what their experience was like.

Sandy Cai

Just in case it hasn't been mentioned yet, well Mashiro was an ex-JYP trainee and was supposed to debut with ITZY (she was there in the SKZ survival show with the other ITZY members). That's probably part of the reason why PD saw the skills that Mashiro has are really good.

Sascha

Wow so many things to say after this journey and also after this episode. This is my third time watching the final episode & I think I cried the most during today's rewatch. I just learned so much more about all these girls (not only Kep1er but all of them), their stories, their friendships etc that it felt a lot more meaningful than the first time watching. I wanna write a whole lot more about the show in general, this episode, the voting process, Kep1er etc. but I feel kinda exhausted after watching for so long. Just one thing I do wanna say: thanks for the journey PD! I really enjoyed and appreciated GP999 even more through watching your reactions! And one thing I really admire because I could never do that: I love how objective you stayed throughout the entire show. It was really nice hearing from a none biased perspective bc if you grow attached to certain contestants you start seeing things differently no matter of what you normally would think logically. But your comments and views on the show really balanced my bias out so that was really nice. It was a lot of fun with GP999 here on your Patreon, also with everyone in the comments, always a nice atmosphere! Can't wait for Kep1er variety content on here! PS: you'll make a 180 on everything you said on Hikaru's personalty after you see her on variety stuff lol

flowerbit

Yeah what a wild ride. Rewatching it was even crazier seeing it all again. My top 2 of the show since episode 1 were Mashiro and Xiaoting, so at the start of the member reveals I was relieved because mashiro was there, and by the end I was holding my breath lmao. I’m very happy they both made it and they both absolutely shine in kep1er. Also that thing you were saying at the end about idols who for some reason just have that ~thing~ that’s special for you and you just like love them and don’t know why. It made me realize who that idol is for me, which is vivi from loona. There’s zero explanation for this. she’s just her and just has that something special for me!!!

Maca

"that idol" (or rather idols) for me - sana from twice, solar from mamamoo, jun from seventeen (my first bias), ravn from oneus, sunoo (and ni-ki) from enhypen, and most recently youngeun.

Tesa

even though i knew who was going to be in the Top 9 and kind of what their rankings were i still ended up crying watching this now.. especially during Shen Xiao Ting's speech. i'm so happy she made it! and it is a shame there isn't at least one more chinese member as they all did so well during their missions

Joy

This episode was so long :’) watching this episode live sent my anxiety through the roof. I only watched this show for Hiyyih and omg after she wasn't called at 4th so many Hiyyihlights lost hope. Most of us were not even thinking she would get the top 2 but I was so happy she was!!! The hate though (Hiyyih has to be the strongest 17-year-old) was MASSIVE. The #\OT8 (which means everyone but Bahiyyih) was trending almost higher on Twitter than the group name Kep1er was, Knetz sent a whole petition to the blue house (stating that with the influence of BTS and TXT she should not make it into the group), private messages leaked between knetz stating they wanted her to be bullied out of the group, dea*h threats, even the producers of the show had to put out a statement saying, “Bahiyyih, worked just as hard as the other girls please stop with rude remarks.” insanity honestly. Bahiyyih now has a massive number of solo stans (me included but I respect the other members) She goes viral on Twitter and TikTok every other day so whether people like that she made it or not, her popularity can not be denied for helping others discover the group.

Anonymous

and now im waiting you to check out produce101 season2

Anonymous

After rewatching this I still think the competing countries(China and Japan) shouldve had more voting power

excellen

I just want to say that I totally understand your feelings of how heartbroken you would be if Xiaoting didn't make it cause that would be me in case Mashiro didn't make it too. I was really nervous that she wouldn't make it after falling to 14th place during the first part of the final voting so I'm glad that she was the first one to be called but jesus christ that was FOUR long minutes just to announce her. And Hikaru did not cry when she was announced but I thought it was curious and cute that she didn't cry for herself but she cried for Mashiro when she made it at 8th place. One thing that you are wrong though, PD: the show did not have more korean watchers it actually had way more watchers internationally. There was still distrust on Mnet because of the Produce scandal and let's be real and admit that GP999 is basically their reboot of Produce. Most koreans didn't take the bait and the ratings were pretty low in Korea but this never bothered Mnet. Why? Because besides broadcasting on the Mnet channel for koreans GP999 was livestreamed on Abema TV, a popular japanese streaming channel; Iqiyi, the livestream service that you watched and which people misunderstood the target audience they were aiming by streaming there: it was not for China to watch since the show was blocked for them (same with the voting in the universe app), it was for SEA countries which are a big market for Kpop since forever. And they also livestreamed the episodes on Youtube to reach even more people so THAT was their way to make the group global. It was never about the ratio it was about the international exposure early on to build a fandom even if mostly international. Of course they wanted some foreign members but never the majority of the group so the 4K:5F ratio was never viable in Mnet's eyes. They do have korean fans but they are much smaller in numbers in comparison. But like you said they need to make money in Korea and get those brand deals so my theory is that even if the show was not popular in Korea but they got a lineup that would please the korean public CJ is now basically reverse engineering their international popularity into local popularity with their resources available to expose the group locally and of course the girls are talented so they are slowly also getting more attention everyday in Korea.

AL

Reading back everyone's reaction on twitter and now seeing yours I'm so glad I decided to not watch the finale live and just wake up to the results and spoil myself by reading an article on who won then watching the finale just for fun. Though I will say even just reading hiyyih got second the shock and relief I had was immense. I never really had a solid top 9 just 3 ppl I was really rooting for hiyyih, youngeun and xiaoting. So when I saw they all made it I almost cried and I hadn't even watch the finale yet lol.

JustCakie

I honestly wasnt a big Xiaoting fan the entire show and even I was GOBSMACKED when her name still hadnt been called by first place. She's such a talented gem and a sweet girl I'm so glad she made it in the end

Anonymous

Adding a new comment because I might have ran out of characters on my previous one. The current trend with Kep1er's WA DA DA is suddenly going up in Korean streaming apps before exiting, then randomly moving up in the streaming ranks again. This is a good trend in my opinion because it does show that they are slowly catching fire in the Korean market. Edit: As for Yurina, if I recall correctly, GP999 was her last shot at trying to be an idol. Edit #1: Huang Xingqiao, she's already a soloist prior to GP999. She has a recent release with another C-group girl! Same with Wenzhe. She's already in a C-Pop group called Hickey (at least that's how it is in English?). Fu Yaning recently just debuted as a soloist. I think she's going to be fine. Su Ruiqi just released a new single just a few weeks after she came back to China, actually! I think it's worth listening to. Edit #2: Chaeromdans (Kim Chaehyun fans) really rallied behind her, going as far as doing a lot of voting deals with other fanbases to secure her spot in the group. I do believe that Bahiyyih, as raw as her skills are, can only go up and improve herself moving forward. Really excited to see more from her (please WAKEONE, I beg). Youngeun, my girl, truly made herself an all-rounder trainee throughout GP999. Good for her!

希文 王

I'll edit this post after I finish, but something that's stayed with me through the show: I really don't feel the hype for Yurina, she's pretty and stable but she's never had a killing point moment for me and personality-wise she's also always came off as super mellow, so I'm not super sad that she didn't make it (I'm equally sad for most of the contestants) (whoops edited in the wrong reply but whatever): "I'm pretty confident Shen Xiao Ting is gonna be number 1" - famous last words from PD edit 2: Chaehyun and Bahiyyih placing first and second is actually perfect in terms of showing how the voting system works; Bahiyyih got no.1 in 115 countries, but because Korean votes count as more Chaehyun placed first. I also look forward to what Bahiyyih and Yujin can bring to the table, and so far it's looking promising! edit 3:about Yeseo, I agree so much with PD! she had that one moment in the show that made her stand out even more than the other stable performers! which goes back to my problem with Yurina (and also girls like Bora and Bahiyyih), they're not bad (I can't really tell about the "sawce" so no comment on that) but they also need to show more for me to root for them (I was rooting for Youngeun a lot after My House) edit 4 (oh god I hope this is my last edit lol): my the idol is Jimin from BTS, there's a lot that goes into it (I tried explaining it to a friend once and accidentally went super deep into my own insecurities lol) and I absolutely support the whole group, but if just to name one it's him

jennielvr_

drama club videos?

Tesa

same here. never understood the big hype around her and somehow i don't think she would have fit this group. she always seemed aloof to me.. idk

Is anyone else having trouble watching older videos on this Patreon? Seems like videos posted prior to August 2021 are unwatchable. I just see a popup saying "Sorry This video does not exist." Tried other browsers, disabling add-ons, etc. and nothing works. Other creators I'm supporting don't have this problem, so it seems specific to FOT.

leinie

yeo jin goo looks so much like a magician in this episode, i could see him play some funny villain in a childrens show lol

Marcel Wannieck

I tested it and it seems like August 10th is the cutoff day. It's probably an issue with their Vimeo account. I already sent a DM to let them know about it. Kind of a shame because I was planning to watch Itaewon Class and all these other dramas on this Patreon..

Melissa Ferrin

it was so comforting to join you on this journey every week PD :) thank you!!

The more this thing progresses, the more I think they could’ve just add Yurina as a surprise Planet Pass (like Sunoo, or any kind of JYP pulling a JYP). They totally could, and they didn’t. Cowards.

Thanks for this journey PD! Honestly I didn’t like the lineup so I decided not to stan Kep1er. Wishing them all the best though.

I am so sad that Xiaorina didn't get to debut together!! (They seem like such good friends:')

It completely slipped my mind, but I remember you saying you'd look out for Ririka too. Well, Ririka is debuting soon under a K-pop group named ILY:1 (eye-lee-why one). I don't have the specific date yet, but hey!!

I think it might be Jurina for me as well. I was a casual follower of 48G for years pre-PD48 and always thought she was cool. But it wasn't until her PD48 intro video that I finally saw what the management had seen in her all those years ago. Jurina's Nekkoya performance is still the pinnacle of her idol career, in my opinion.

ive only just started the video, but on yurina, i agree. shes pretty, her voice is decent enough, dancing is decent enough, but she just didn't stand out or captivate me at all. when she performs i dont really feel drawn, or feel anything at all. she reminds me of Sakura. Absolutely gorgeous, and seems born to be an idol, but just doesn't give what needs to be given performance wise. it was also pretty clear that the producers or mnet or whoever really like her from the start (she got the backstory, the easiest parts in the song, and had her vocals edited quite a bit compared to the other girls). they obviously have an eye for stan attractors bc she was also super popular, but eh. i think she could be great with a bit more training, edit: ok im at the shine performance and i take back what i said. i definitely think yurina is debut ready, i think she just didnt stand out enough for some reason to enough people on the show (or there was some funny business going on...i think the way the voting was set up worked against her somehow).

that scene with the parents ruined me, especilally with wen zhe and her mom :(

im still so conflicted lmao. i was sooo happy my top pick Hikaru made it, but I was speechless when I realized Yurina didn't make it. Reddit was in shambles that day oh boy,

Huzzah I got around to watching this, and I can finally say that I got my realistic top 9, like omg actually the first 9 names I listed off on my notes app right before they began the member announcements!! Chaehyun my one pick made it too, guess I can thank the Korean weighted votes for that at least whew... My usual tradition with survival shows is also to attempt to guess ranks (last show I did that with was I-LAND which I only got Sunghoon's correct) but seeing how it turned out I only would've been half correct. The only times I've been this accurate were with ENHYPEN and Wanna One's final members, the latter having two backup names bc I really liked a lot of them. I'm realizing they used the same member announcement music during the I-LAND finale here lol, kind of encouraged me about the comparisons I've made between the similarities of the final members of ENHYPEN and Kep1er, storywise and some criteria (Sunoo/Xiaoting, Heeseung/Dayeon, Jungwon/Chaehyun to name a few.) I've got notes on all of them that I made for my friends, but anyone who has watched both these survival shows (you too now PD) it fascinated me how I could compare their struggles. A itty bitty part of me was hoping they'd surprise planet pass a girl into Kep1er from the remaining girls and boom 10 member group instead since the group's name had a 1 in it and not a 9. Just imagine if they'd pull out a P10 seat and put the planet masters on the spot to pick one last member. Similar in concept to I-LAND's finale but we knew the 7th member would be picked by producers, so GP999 would've been a complete surprise. I don't think I could've hoped for another Chinese member if this idea went through, mainly like you said bc of the political tensions, but maybe Yurina would've had a chance? She was someone I liked enough to have in the group bc she does give off that eye-catching idol energy and had enough screentime to appeal to me, especially her bond with Xiaoting and Youngeun. This is the opposite to others say like Bahiyyih who I feel like got one segment during the to hook viewers into watching, and then she dropped off the face of the show. While yes I like TXT, she caught my attention in terms of her voice. Slight warmth, has some weight, and a not thin singing voice! Timbre is unique to me. But every time I wanted to check her progress, it's like I couldn't even find her in the show and I'd have to go off to watch her fancams instead. Heck I barely even knew her personality, which was why I was pleasantly surprised to hear the other girls during the special live describe her as a "happy vitamin" like Mnet where was this footage during GP999? Like it'd be one thing if she was unskilled, but she's not? I really think things could've been different if GP999 had taken the I-LAND route in keeping them away from the outside world for the duration of the show. If I'm recalling correctly, they didn't have access to their phones and weren't aware of how people thought of them during the entire show except for when they were given fan encouragement. When they had that break during filming for like a month before Part 2, everyone was taken to a training facility away from society. GP999 also had a break during filming in the beginning, but people had access to their phones and internet. Though I guess during the show they had to use the Universe app, but even that would typically be monitored in some manner? Either way I'll never know these what-ifs, but I'm happy with Kep1er and the future that's ahead of them!

You should've seen twitter when this episode aired it was a hot mess lmao

Okay so I watched the show along with PD for the first time and I was satisfied enough with the final lineup. What bothered me was that no chinese members where being announced when they were, clearly, the ones that stepped up the game in this show, and most of them were really popular. After finishing the episode I looked up updates about the disqualified members... and I came across a Fu Yaning interview. Now I completely hate this show, I should've seen it coming since it was MNET. They literally forced her to say "that line" to Yujin ("we go up but you don't). This damn scripted line caused a lot of mental and emotional damage to Yaning, that she cried and told her parents she wanted to quit the show. Nowadays that cancel culture is a thing, these kind of situations shouldn't be allowed, causing fake drama for a show's sake, putting the involved people's mental state at stake. (Sorry for the negativity, I just had to vent out my thoughts. As a chinese person myself, I was rooting hard for the chinese members, and I'll keep doing it from now on :)) )

Out of all the fancams for O.O.O. Kang Ye-seo's was the most memorable to me. Her vocals and presence were top notch, plus her hairstyle reminded me of Hachikucji in the Monogatari series lol. Now Another Dream was on another level. I had listened to this song on Kep1er's debut EP and thought it was alright. But after seeing it live on this show with the lyrics really elevated the song's impact to me. Also, I feel bad that Kawaguchi Yurina couldn't make it T-T

Late to join the produce show party here but I wish PD could also watch the Youth With You 2 series where many of the c-trainees also joined before. I'm curious to see his reaction and analysis as to how different K-Produce and C-Produce shows are. Honestly, the chinese produce shows are less stressful to me since there's a lot more fun moments and way less attempted drama and evil edits Mnet is infamous for.
