You should check out Goblin!

Tyisha

I want to recommend Alice in Borderland. It’s Japanese but it’s really good

Delphine Vdh

I really hope you'll check out Alice in Borderland!

jiminycricket

Idol the Coup with Hani from EXID. It way better than Imitation and the OST is solid. Storyline is about failed idols and what to do after. Not romance focused and Hani is a FORCE.

Nico Engels

Hospital Playlist and Nevertheless would be my top picks! (Edit: Extracurricular as well) As someone before me said My Name was really interesting, but I only watched the first 3 or 4 episodes.

Idol: the Coup or My Name

I think the best one I can think of is “tale of nine-tailed”

uslizo

So not worth it

Sarahvtae

Definitely either "My Name", "Happiness" or "Snowdrop" OR if you want smth a little bit older "W-Two Worlds" (one of the best kdramas ever imo)...i think, you'd really love them! Also "Alice in Borderland" which is a japanese show...a lot of ppl like to compare it to Squid game😅 I would definitely NOT recommend "True Beauty"... p.s. i'm shocked at some of these recommendations in the comments...seems like they want you to watch something, that is absolutely not your style😅

Réka O.

I'm not sure if you're interested in this kind of drama, but Hospital Playlist is one of the best I've ever seen. It's the right mix of serious and lighthearted and the music is amazing!

Elise Green

Snowdrop puhlease. Also my name as well.

Merlin

Navillera!💫

Mali

The smile has left your eyes

Deniz Ak

I really really recommend my name, a netflix series with 8 episodes and some actors you know and really loved from dramas you already checked out!

Ivy

if you’re ready for another heavy drama, my name is definitely the one. extracurricular is a really good one too, sky castle as well but for lighthearted ones, maybe our beloved summer, extraordinary you + true beauty too i guess the uncanny counter is like an in between lol so that’s a good one too

Alice in Borderland or The Uncanny Counter for sure :D

Alice in Borderland is amazing, i highly recommend, PD would love it (would not recommend true beauty or nevertheless)

km

Others have suggested it but I highly recommend Alice in Borderland! It has a super cool concept near the realms of squid game and would love to see you react to a Japanese show!

Anonymous

crash landing on you! i’m also really enjoying our beloved summer but that show is only going to be complete by the end of january :)

Lynn Fionne

Yesss I third the Alice in Borderland suggestion!

I'd say either Snowdrop or My Name

Deniz Ak

Snowdrop is good but here’s some more really good recommendations: •Mouse (best one of the list) •My Name •Taxi Driver •Sky Castle •Hospital Playlist

Mali

Vagabond

minkit

Mouse!! It stars Lee Seunggi and has 20 eps plus 2 special eps that take place between eps 15 and 16! Its available on viki and NO ONE reacts to it yet it is literally the most react worthy series ive seen in my ENTIRE LIFE!!! My jaw was on the floor almost every single episode. It IS a dark show (like between Strangers From Hell and Flower of Evil) but it is SPECTACULAR. I watched it a couple months ago and not only was it my favorite kdrama I have ever seen it is my favorite series! Displacing Hannibal after about 9 years of being my favorite!! I saw eps 1 - 5 at least 4 times each in 3 weeks. Ep1 about 6 times lol Its sooooooo amazing

h

I’d love for you to watch ‘Sky Castle’, if you haven’t already. It came out on 2018 (?) and SF9’s Chani is in it. A great drama that had me feeling every emotion on the scale.

W: two worlds! It's my absolute favourite drama~ I'd also like to know what your thoughts are surrounding the controversy of Snowdrop. Not sure if you keep up with the news about the drama. If not, I'd recommend really looking into it and possibly giving a personal perspective if you do want to watch it.

Bojena Koseva

Oh I would love to see your reaction to "extracurricular". the series only has 10 episodes. Another series that would be interesting is "Save Me" but it's a pretty dark one. I still love it. It's really well ?made/written?

Goblin is also rlly good!

Raley Cherry

Happiness!! It’s a 2021 drama about how people change to protect their own interests and is a really cool take on a “zombie” storyline without being apocalyptic. It’s only 12 episodes, has some great actors, and is a drama that I would love to get your commentary on.

Noem

I would personally recommend Mouse

Amanda Araujo

My Name, Move to Heaven, Sky Castle and Extraordinary You

Nevertheless

rockthekazb0t

I know many will suggest other great dramatic thrillers and such, so I will be the one to suggest some lighthearted counterparts! Especially with Valentine's day coming up, it'd be nice to do a romance/romcom, even if they get a bit cheesy at times 😅 My suggestion is twofold, since they indirectly relate to each other: First, EXTRAORDINARY YOU. This drama stars Rowoon from SF9, also includes April's Naeun in a secondary role. It's a very fun fantasy romance that also pokes fun at some of the teen romance genre's most tired tropes as well. Won't say anymore so I don't spoil anything. Second, TRUE BEAUTY! It's made by several of the same directors/writers as Extraordinary You, so there's Easter eggs in the drama that won't quite make sense unless you've seen EY(but nothing too important really if you don't watch that one). Astro's Eunwoo stars in it and it's one of his better romance dramas, imo. I thought the whole cast was pretty great together and had some strong dramatic moments. But yes, this drama is more in line with the "typical" high school romance genre but I think it's still engaging enough to be worth a watch. One more edit to add: the lead actresses for both the dramas were AMAZING and seriously funny!

BaoziBang

True Beauty

Serena

I would love Navillera or Extraordinary You ❤

smatmit

Worth mentioning it also has Yiseo from Itaewon Class as one of the leads

Ivy Jaggers

he is psychometric!!!

avocadoetarts

Idol: the coup is the best idol related drama that i ever watch!! the story and acting of every one is really good!! It's a drama about failed idols and i think its pretty realistic show plus they add some interview from real life failed idols so i hope you can check it out plus this is not a romance drama like imitation so i think you'll like it

Julia

I recommend Mouse, Taxi Driver andddd Happiness!

I recommend Save Me, My Name, and Crash Landing on You!! These are soo good

Raley Cherry

Also Crash Landing On You. It is very romance focused, but it has the best side characters I’ve ever seen (many from Vincenzo) and the plot is very different from other kdramas because it does deal with North/South Korean conflicts. It also leans into issues depression, isolation, and revenge in what I think is a very refreshing way.

Definitely Snowdrop and Our Beloved Summer

Since we're ending with Flower of Evil I'd recommend beyond evil. I was so invested with Flower of Evil so I was really looking forward to the year-end award show and got so disappointed when they lose on a lot of categories and it turns out Beyond Evil won most of them so I decided to give it a try. Great series in my opinion. I'd also recommend Hospital Playlist and Hometown Cha Cha Cha!

I saw a lot of People recommend Snow Drop but wanted to make you aware of 1 Thing: People in the Comments under Reactions to it aren't able to stay polite when discussing things and it tends to get racist pretty quickly. Even though I hope your Patrons will be better I wanted to make you aware because I know this Patreon is kind of a safe space for all of us.

Snowdrop had a lot of controversy surrounding it, so I recommend that you try to be politically correct so as to not offend your viewers, also it's an average drama imo, the cinematography is beautiful with the 80's setting, the score is also pretty good but I don't find anything else about it that good.

I just saw someone said sky castle and I agree with that 10000% watching this drama is a must

CreatureSoul446

Well if you’re ever stressed out and want a more comedic Kdrama I’m recommending Welcome to Waikiki (the comedic misadventures of a group of friends that run a lodge of sorts and find that one of their patrons have left their baby there) Psychopath Diaries (a man gets amnesia and finds the diary of a serial killer and believes that it is his diary), Chief Kim/Good Manager (shady accountant works to seed out the corruption in a major company in his own eccentric way) and Mr. Queen (a male chef switches bodies with a Queen from the past).

Harley

If you want a more light hearted but focused on idol industry then I like Her Private Life (it has the actor who played Jang GeunWon in a lighter role) or there’s True Beauty which has Eunwoo but tbh I wasn’t a huge fan of it since I read the webtoon but a lot of people did like it so I would be down to see your reaction Hellbound was really good and it’s only 6 episodes but that’s darker. I’ll just put Hwarang out there (even though I wasn’t huge on it when it aired) but the cast was very filled with familiar faces. I mean it has V, Park Seojoon, Park Hyungsik, Choi Minho.

Mihir Joshi

Hellbound and Happiness both are amazing

Another suggestion, though I don't think many care about it anymore because it's been a few years lol - SEARCH:WWW There is some romance, yes, but the real story is between the 3 strong female leads and their contentious relationships with each other - some more morally gray than others. Also Lee Dahee is one of the leads and she's absolutely GORGEOUS there(but isn't she always? 💕)

Lauren Miller

I NEED your reaction to Sky Castle!!

I don’t recommend you Snow Drop. There is a lot of controversy over the distortion of Korean history.

tionna!

Have you seen the Reply series (1997, 1994, 1988) PD? If you haven't, I suggest these! :) The series is honestly very wholesome and heartwarming to watch. And as someone who is non-Korean, I feel as though I learned a lot about Korean family dynamics and the culture as a whole.

Anonymous

Honestly true. I've only stuck w it because Jung Haein is such a brilliant actor. I think the storyline is getting interesting after the last episode but I don't know how it'll turn out.

I feel like that's exactly why PD's take on it would be really interesting! He can give us a more 'woke' insight into what parts of the drama were wrong and which ones weren't!

"Goblin" is so funny, I'd love to watch it with you for the 1000th time! I really like "Snowdrop", but I don't know if it would be too boring for you? The last few episodes (4-9) were kinda slow, but it's still a great drama.

I forgot to mention PRISON PLAYBOOK! This show is definitely at the top. I just love everything about this show! The feels, emotions, and lessons it gave me. I was a bit 50/50 on this when I first watched it but it just grew on me in each episode. This is definitely at the top of what I would recommend. It doesn't really matter if you decided to react on in or not but I do hope you'll be able to check it out. The cast lineup for this is literally insane. Amazing bunch of actors. Park Hae-Soo (Squid Game), Jung Kyung-Ho (Hospital Playlist), Jung Hae-In, Lee Kyu-Hyung (Hi bye, mama!), Kim Seong-Cheol (Vincenzo), Krystal (f(x)), Seungyoun (YG Winner), and the list goes on.

I would recommend Reply 1988 (is about a neighborhood, mainly focused around a friend group.), While You Were Sleeping (it is about characters that can see the future in their dreams, the main characters are a prosecutor, a police officer and a reporter), Pinocchio (is about 2 people that want to become announcers/reporters and one of then has Pinocchio syndrome, which means they can't lie) and Alice in Borderland is a Japanese show, but its very good.

SB

I found Goblin to be really slow and quite boring to be honest...It picks up a bit at the end but not something I'd reccomend tbh...

My Mister - This is IU's best drama in my opinion. Lots of familiar faces in the cast. IU Lee Sunkyun (Parasite) Lee Jiah (Penthouse) Kwon Nara (Itaewon Class) Seo Hyunwoo (Flower of Evil) Jang Kiyong (Kill It) I would also recommend Extracurricular or Save Me.

I remember during the horror special when you said in your eyes ‘strangers from hell’ was scarier to you because people are scarier than ghost. ‘Save me’ is one of those dramas that shows how cruel and scary humans can actually be. Here's some suggestions with a quick literal genre help: 1. True Beauty - romance w/ love triangle (also tackles mental health and suicide really respectfully!) 2. Mr. Sunshine - historical 3. Kingdom (idk if you've already watched this on ur own time?) - historical and zombies 4. Hotel Luna - supernatural + romance 5. Romance is a Bonus Book - romance and the struggles of switching careers later on in your life and then not kdramas but : Alice in the Borderland (Japanese and very reminiscent of both Sweet Home and Squid Game) and The Untamed (Chinese - historical and supernatural)

Defendant; mystery crime drama starring Ji Sung. Personally feel like this is his best work. Navillera; drama about dreams and friendship between an elder and young man. Our Beloved Summer; romantic drama.

Leonardo

if you liked Vincenzo, you might want to check The Lawless Lawyer, featuring Lee Junki and Seo Yeji. He was a gangster and he studied the law to overcome the law. It has the elements of action, family, trust, betrayal, and ofc romance from the main characters!

Melo Melody

I would suggest - Goblin - for that Hotel del-luna feeling - I'm a psychopath - just because 🤣 - Uncanny Counter - for the frustration and yeah Don't watch True beauty it is like Imitation but a Walmart version of that.

Jet3

I would recommend any one of these dramas, all from different genres; - Extraordinary You - Mr Queen / The King’s Affection - Signal / 365: Repeat The Year - Move To Heaven - Search:WWW - Idol: The Coup - Our Beloved Summer - Taxi Driver / Lawless Lawyer

Fadi - moonlight

- One Ordinary Day. It's only 8 episodes and it's very recent (and VERY anxiety inducing lol). Features Kim Soohyun - Youth of May. Takes place in 1980 and it WILL traumatize you, but it's one of the best shows ever. 12 episodes which is still shorter than the average drama. Features Lee Dohyun and Go Minsi (aka the siblings from Sweet Home) - The Red Sleeve. It's a historical drama aka 사극 idk if you guys are into that but it's one of the best ones. 16 episodes. Features 2PM's Junho.

Anonymous

True Beauty ! It is more lighthearted but it also adresses problems like bullying at school

I would love for you to see Our Beloved Summer! It stars choi woo shik and kim dami and I got to say their chemistry is on point.

I think instead of Snowdrop i would recommend Youth of May! and also a SBS drama from last year called Nobody Knows

Anonymous

Omg pleaaase consider Hospital Playlist! It’s such an underrated series with an amazing mix of comedy, great characters, friendship and family. Guaranteed to make u laugh and cry all throughout!

Doyoungismyult

True Beauty is amazing and tackles some heavier themes. It stars Eunwoo as one of the main leads. The Kings Affection is INCREDIBLE. It is a historical drama but the way the lgbt aspects of the show were handled...truly floored me and left me speechless. Rowoon is the main lead. I was in awe of it. Extracurricular is extremely dark..but also really amazing and Extraordinary You is fun and light hearted

Diana

I don't know how many people will back me up on this one 'cuz it' s not super famous, but hands down, the best melodrama I have seen in my life so far is 'Just Between Lovers'. It's a JTBC drama, with Junho from 2PM. I think it can be a bit triggering because it deals with loss and trauma, but it's beautiful. Visually (color scheme and scenery) it's also absolutely beautiful.

Jared Mathews

Descendants of the Sun on Viki starring Song Joong Ki as a spec ops soldier and Mr. Sunshine on Netflix starring Lee Byung-hun as a Korean American marine during the Japanese occupation of Korea are my favorites

SB

I liked Youth of May a lot too but I think Snowdrop is a bit more entertaining! In both dramas the acting was really good but I think the cinematography and writing overall were better in Snowdrop. I felt that Youth of May was in certain points a bit predictable and some episodes just felt like filler episodes....

Marlin Alvarado

I would suggest - move to heaven -Taxi driver -hospital Playlist - the red sleeve cuff - bad and crazy

kai ♡

I can't believe you once mentioned never seeing Goblin, especially as someone so interested in the cinematography side of dramas, so that is a definite huge recommendation. Move To Heaven is only 10 episodes and is a phenomenal drama. There would be so much potential discussion to be launched. I'd love to hear your takes on all the social commentary. I'd also rec Save Me, Taxi Driver or Beyond Evil, but I feel like you've been covering a lot under the umbrella of those genres lately so Goblin or Move to Heaven might be a nice change of pace!

Lay

Extracurricular on Netflix !

Priscilla Amador

I recommend something with one of my favorite actors Jung Ilwoo (who is honestly slept on). Maybe Haechi (its a really long series tho). It also has Go Ara in it. This series is historical drama but it has a lot of comedic parts in it. I was always laughing throughout this series.

I can highly recomend 'My Mister'. Me and somebody else already said it under your episode 15. of Vincenzo but the way you talked about it there made me realize how much you would enjoy the drama. I think you and the main female lead (played by IU) have a lot in common. In that Vincenzo episode you said how you used to do everything for money and that's a key factor about 'My Mister'. IU's character has to work constantly while having to provide for her and her grandmother without anybody's help. It really shows a lot about modern society and really make you appreciate the little things in life more. And the writing is so good. IU especially knocks it out of the park. You would have so many insightful thoughts and anecdotes to tell, I'm sure of it.

Christina M Villa

For something more light-hearted, Strong Woman Do Bong Soon. Or Work Later, Drink Now. Episodes are like 30 minutes, so you can get several in in a viewing. 100 Days My Prince was also fun, period drama starring D.O. from EXO.

I recommed True Beauty

Karina Kim

I recommend THE SMILE HAS LEFT YOUR EYES with seo inguk and somin it’s sooo good I think your gonna love it

Yan J.

Luxia Scarlet

My recommendation: 1. Youth of May- Lee Do Hyun is the main lead. But not only that, it is definitely one of the biggest gems of 2021. It's a sweet old-school romance in the backdrop of harsh Gwangju Uprising. If you're aware of the political and social backdrop, you will probably enjoy it even more. But even without it, Youth of May is a soothing story, full of emotional depth. It reminds you what it's like to be innocently in love. It's old-fashioned and sincere and gives you a satisfying sense of nostalgia, even if you weren't alive during that time. 2. Hospital Playlist- This is a healing comedy drama. Although it is a medical drama, it doesn’t overwhelm you with its heavy jargons. The terms are there to visualize a realistic environment of the medical industry but with lighthearted and fun journey. More than a medical drama, it is more of a journey of friendship between these 5 childhood friends. The chemistry is so great, and it is just an overall healing drama to watch when you are tired of the heavy stuff. OH also these doctors are also a band, so every episode you’ll be greeted with some nice music. 3. Goblin- It’s Gong Yoo and a fantasy drama. Ah yeah, Yook Sung Jae is here too. While it is a romantic drama, the comedy here is just gold. Would recommend if you’re gearing for the emotional journey. 4. Mr Queen-Speaking of comedy, this will take the cake. A guy is accidentally transported to the body of a Joseon era queen. It is hilarious to see the actress portraying a guy portraying a girl. 5. Save Me- This is heavy heavy stuff. It’s about a cult, which already tells you a lot about this series. It’s dark and thrilling.

MY NAME is one of the best dramas I’ve seen. Flower of evil and My Name are my all time favs. The story always keeps you engaged and their isn’t a moment when your bored.

SB

I liked My Name but I felt like it was really predictable. Like everything else was really good, just the ending was bit meh.

Will

Strong second recommendation for My Mister. I also echo those who've recommended True Beauty.

Paige

I have a few suggestions: Law School Record of Youth Hi Bye Mama Hello My Twenties Start Up My Name Crash Landing On You Nevertheless All of these are on Netflix!

Anonymous

I strongly recommend 'My Name' on Netflix. It's an action based revenge story with Ahn Bo Hyun (Itaewon Class) in one of the lead roles. Came out shortly after Squid Game and I actually enjoyed it a lot more, though I liked Squid Game as well. Some other recommendations: Youth of May, Navillera, When the camellia blooms and It's okay that's love

Doyoungismyult

I also recommend Waikiki if you want something light and funny. I laughed so hard I was in tears after every single episode. I think you will love it.

Ash

would love to see something lighter like extraordinary you or the uncanny counter! they have serious topics but are also a lot of fun, overall would like to see something a little different than what you’re watching now since they’re all on the darker side 😅

Shanz

1.The Smile Has Left Your Eyes (y'all will have alooooot to talk about with that one and the acting is phenomenal!) 2.Happiness 3. Extracurricular

Connor (Cyndr)

I saw some other mentions of it, but I think My Mister is a great option for the next drama. It's another very well written show that covers some dark, mature topics. Also features a STELLAR cast!

Nanathathalielie

I would recommend checkig out: - Sky Castle - True Beauty (This is either hit or miss - a lot if people like it and a lot of people hate it, so it would be interesting to see where you stand on that) - He is Psychometric (although this also has Jinyoung as the main lead and since you are checking out the devil judge at the moment, it might not be the best idea to watch those at the same time...) - Doom at your service (Personally i really enjoyed this one, would highly recommend watching!) 🥰

iamlara

My recommendations: - One The Woman - While You Were Sleeping - W - Two Worlds - Move To Heaven - Taxi Driver - Mr. Queen - At A Distance Spring Is Green - Moonlovers (Scarlet Heart: Ryeo) - He Is Psychometric ☺️

Phani

I think you would really enjoy Mine staring Lee Boyoung and Kim seohyung as sisters in law for a rich family with a *suprise surprise* dark secret. It has some mind game who-dunnit stuff similar to flower of evil but also lesbians!!!!! (it was a whole thing, knetz got so mad at one of the actresses) I really enjoyed it and feel like not enough international ppl watched it (edit: gl going through all these comments wow everyone chimed in haha)

juls

Happiness While you were sleeping Crash landing on you Save me Youth of May Alice in Borderland

Shanz

Please yes to this, this drama is kinda underrated. The acting is top tier! Also it will have a lot to discuss and speculation. I feel like it would be the perfect one for drama club.

Petra Kamali

"My Name": a similar vibe to the last 2 drama clubs, it's great but as someone mentioned it's a bit predictable. On the shorter side tho (8eps I think). "Hello my twenties" season 1+2!! On the lighter side, but has interesting... Things.. And stuff... Trying not to spoil it. Absolutely adore the cast and character development of this one especially in s2. Rewatched multiple times. "Because this is my first life" I LOVE THIS SHOW. Such a lovely romance and just makes me happy :') "My roommate is a Gumiho" great comedy with a lil bit of fantasy and romance. "True beauty" was also really enjoyable, a very cute coming of age type of story. "Goblin" I just feel like this is among the must watch k-dramas. Not my fave amongst all of these but still 100% recommend it, as mentioned by someone else the cinematography is gorgeous.

♕︎Merel♕︎

I would recommend Mr. Queen, My fav kdrama. Amazing cast/characters/story with a lot of funny moments

Isabelle reffas

I strongly recommend The King's Affection (Yeonmo) a very well acted period drama. Strong female character. Rowoon from SF9 in his best role to date and ByungChan from Victon as the strong silent type. It's on Netflix.

Saolam Nguyen

I strongly recommend Beyond Evil if you're looking for another crime procedural drama - it's one of the best dramas released last year! Fantastic writing, plot development, GAY subtext - it has everything. There's a lot of crossover with the BE fandom and the Strangers from Hell/Devil's Judge fandoms

Thilde

Snowdrop is okay but out of ongoing series right now I'd personally recommend Bulgasal or Bad and Crazy over it

Delphine Vdh

Omg Because this is my first life is my absolute favorite it's so wholesome and super underrated

B

D.P. on Netflix is probably one of the best series I've seen last year. It's 6 episodes in total. It's about two soldiers (played by Jung Hae-In and Koo Kyo-hwan) who join the deserter persuit team and go to look for people who have abandoned their military duty. The dynamic between the two main character is very funny and almost buddy-cop. But the stories of the people who deserted are often really raw and very serious. So the series can flip in tone very quickly. Content warning would be that it deals with severe topics such as bullying, hazing and suicide. Which might not make it the best series to watch on Patreon. But I do recommend everyone to watch it. A second season was announced but it really does not need it. It could have been the stand alone 6 episodes and it'd be top three of 2021 dramas. It came out around squid game so I don't think people had their eyes open for anything else at that time.

Anonymous

I highly recommend Alice in Borderland. I recently watched your Sweet Home reaction videos and I kept thinking about how I think you would really be into Alice in Borderland. It is a Japanese show on Netflix and I think it has a cool concept behind it.

Delphine Vdh

Hometown Cha cha cha! Such a healing drama

I myself haven’t seen many dramas but I recommend crash landing on you, strong woman do bong soon, and A tale of the nine tailed.

My mister is also one of the best kdramas!!! it touches a lot of realistic subjects plus i believe IU's best drama!! her acting is so good and the story is also really great!! also shim sur yeon is also a cast here. hope you can add it to your list

M.C.

The Secret Life of my Secretary: After an accident a man who is known to be very attentive to details about people looses his ability to recognize faces. He has to rely on his secretary because she is the only one he is able to pick out based on the close she always wears. It's a romantic comedy and drama. The Untamed: A Chinese fantasy period drama. It's kind of an epic nd they're trying to help bring peace to the country Mr. Temporary: I've only seen the first episode, but it's about a Lawyer that tries to solve the murder of a highschool girl by going undercover as a substitute teacher. Psychopath Diary: A man finds the diary of a killer after an accidental run it. He gets hit by a car later and losses his memory, but he still has the diary so he starts acting like a killer(I haven't seen this one but it's on my list)

Serious: My Mister, great cast and wonderful drama overall Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-Eaa3f3gDo Mainstream: Start Up (Hotel del Luna/ It's ok to not be okay kind of budget), fantastic storyline and the cinematography and soundtrack is awesome Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BemKyzbLDDc I recommend doing them both since one can be pretty serious and heavy while the other is more lighthearted, lovey-dovey and inspiring! =) Others: Snowdrop, Single's infermo (hahaha its cool), Uncanny Counter is nice... If you loved Flower of Evil then I Definitely recommend BEYOND EVIL. One of the best (probably the best so far) dramas I have ever seen. Truly a work of art led by a female writer & director with phenomenal acting, writing, cinematography, OST etc. It won the most awards for television at the 2021 Baeksang Art Awards for Best Drama, Best Actor & Best Screenplay and was one of the 2 candidates for their daesang so it's definitely worth the watch imo.

Our beloved summer it is more a romance drama but I think you might like the way they filmed it

flowerbit

Crash Landing On You is another great Studio Dragon production. It’s part action part romance (and I never say this, but the romance is so good). I’d also like to see this story seen from a Korean persons point of view! Another favorite recently is Idol: The Coup which was wayyy more than I was expecting. It stars Hani, Exy, Green from Redsquare, and Solbin from Laboum

Bevin

I’ve watched a ton of dramas and these are some of my top picks I think you would enjoy: 18 again, Start up, Extraordinary you, Tale of the Nine Tailed, Beyond Evil, While you were Sleeping. I will give a little synopsis of each below.

Bevin

-18 again: a spin off of the American movie 17 again. The male lead is Lee Dohyun and it’s easily one of my top 10 favorite shows! You laugh, cry, and everything in between. An underrated gem.

Lee

Also! He is Psychometric was really good in my opinion.

It would be amazing if you checked out a Joseon set drama, such as "The Kings Affection", "Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung or "Love in the Moonlight" Other dramas I can recommend are "True beauty", "Memories of Alhambra", "The legend of the blue sea", "Pinocchio" and "Police University" Many of the dramas mentioned has Idols in them that you would recognize. (PS: Idol actors that can act very well)

doom at your service is soo good too.

Mouse - A mystery thriller that will keep you guessing with a lot of twists. One of my top favorites from last year alongside Vincenzo. Also, Beyond Evil is a good one or The Last Empress is one of my all time favorites. If you want some comedy, I would also recommend Welcome to Waikiki.

Daniela Padilla

people that are recommending snowdrop know whats good. its a fantastic show and story.

For something dark, gritty and action, I’d suggest My Name on Netflix. It’s short at only 8-9eps. I finished it a few weeks and omg it was so good!! For something with a mix of comedy, romance, drama, and some action, I’d suggest Crash Landing on You on Netflix! Crash Landing on You was my first kdrama and I would love to rewatch with you and Blaire, very interested to hear your perspective on the overall sub-plot of North Korea and South Korea differences. Another comedy, romance drama would be Start-Up!

I really think if you like Flower of Evil you would love Beyond Evil or Taxi Driver, they are both amazingly written and acted and are very exciting and thrilling stories with great characters that really touch your heart.

Marcel Wannieck

I don't know about Snowdrop. There's been a lot of criticism about historical revisionism, with some calling it right-wing propaganda. Here's a reddit thread from a Korean that explains the problem pretty well: https://www.reddit.com/r/korea/comments/rjri40/why_the_kdrama_snowdrop_is_extremely_problematic/ I think the whole post is worth a read for the historical context but one part that stuck out to me was this: "Basically the same thing as…if there was a Netflix show about how the KKK “righteously killed Blacks because there was soviet spies among them." As ridiculous as that." That being said, I haven't seen Snowdrop myself and I don't know too much about Korean history but it is something to keep in mind.

Maria

My Mister : since you’ve seen Hotel Del Luna, how about watching IU’s best performance ever?? while this show does seem dark (and the topics it touches on are), it’s much more of a slice of life show and I think it could create great discussions. Crash Landing on You : The best romcom that I have seen since The Proposal ?? it’s funny, has one of the greatest supporting cast that i have ever seen, and some intense action moments thrown in. or D.P : this one is intense with a little comedy. it is a Netflix original and pretty short, it focuses on the Military bullying that has occurred - it will be having a Season 2.

Daniela Padilla

all of that has been proven false and its known that the show doesn't promote or doesn't glorify all those things. there is no historical distorsion, acording to korean authorities. So please refrain from creating or feeding false narratives about the show. you can find the informatión online. https://www.soompi.com/article/1506042wpp/court-rules-that-snowdrop-can-continue-airing-after-civic-group-files-for-injunction

Annika

Here are some of my personal favourites. From the shows you’ve already watched Flower of Evil & It’s Okay to Not Be Okay would also make this list. I tend to focus quite a bit on the writing when watching if that helps :) Anyway, here are the recommendations: - Healer (no. 1 of all time. Flower of Evil is a close second) - Descendants of the Sun - Goblin Lighter/more comedic ones (at least for the most part): - Strong Woman Do Bong Soon - True Beauty

Daniela Padilla

Just leaving this here so people are aware: All of the things the drama has been accused of have been proven false and its known that the show doesn't promote or doesn't glorify all those things. there is no historical distorsion, acording to korean authorities. So please refrain from creating or feeding false narratives about the show. you can find the informatión online. In actual episodes theres proof that the show doesn't do propaganda so what most people have said againts the show is from pure speculation. No one denies that the topic the show handles is heavy but the controversy has been based on lies and missinformation.

The Red Sleeve Cuff was fun. It has 2PM's Junho as the main lead. Also, I don't know if you have seen it but Youth of May was absolutely phenomenal in my opinion. It was one of my favorite dramas of this year. Lee Do Hyun (the glasses dude in sweet home) is the male lead and Go Min Shi (his sister in sweet home) is the female lead. It made watching sweet home so odd after.

Brianna

I just finished watching Inspector Koo and the whole time was thinking about how you’d react. The way this show chose to story tell and present the information of the case thru it’s editing was something I hadn’t seen done before. Whether you watch this show thru drama club or not I think it’s something that you have to see purely for the film direction and editing.

I love watching your Drama Club! Thanks for sharing your thoughts, they really make watching (and re-watching dramas) such a great experience. Beyond Evil is written and directed so well. It was a bit of a quieter drama but filmed so beautifully and the characters really got to me.

It’s about two people who were each other’s first love during childhood but the boy’s father is a serial killer that has a twisted affection for his son and ends up taking matters into his own hands. I went through a whirlwind of emotions watching this show and the cinematography is really beautiful.

Move to Heaven was wonderful, I also liked He is Pyschometric. This one’s currently airing (about half way through) but i’m really loving The One and Only (한 사람만), appreciate the acting and storyline so far EDIT. I think I take it back about The One and Only. The writing and editing are getting clumsy. Which is unfortunate, because I really do love the acting.

I strongly suggest 괴물/ Beyond Evil. I think this is more interesting than flower of evil.

carlakoala

There is a new hit show called Hellbound on Netflix, a Squid Game equivalent show worthy of the same hype

Lena

Not sure if this will make it, considering it has 2 seasons (thought not as many ep per season as Penthouse), but I’m 1000% recommending Hospital Playlist. It’s such an amazing show that incorporates and balances many aspects of real life such as family, relationships, and friendships while not straying away from the harsh realities of life and the obstacles that come with living in this world. Not to mention the comedy in this is next to none. If Flower of Evil is a perfect show, this doesn’t come far behind.

Also not necessarily a drama but Busted

Lena

It was such a good drama, despite it being based on real historical figures (which leaves less opportunities for “creative direction” with the storyline). It was also one of my favorite dramas of the year. I don’t know if PD has ever watched saeguk dramas before, but it would be an interesting drama to see him react to.

Joanne

I thought "one ordinary day" (guy gets tangled up in a crime) was really good but it's only 8 episodes long so not that many sadly. also "my name"(about revenge and the main lead is badass) , "Save me" (about religion and a cult) "extracurricular" (student running a illegal business) or "taxi driver (for some good evil on evil revenge stories) or "crash landing on you" for some humor in between but interesting story

I would highly recommend NAVILLERA. From 2021, it's my TOP1 drama with BEYOND EVIL (that I would also recommend) I was worried to start Navillera at first because it wasn't the kind of dramas I usually watch. However, it was a wonderful surprise. This drama make emotional in a good way seriously. The story is inspirational and some messages in this drama are so beautiful. Also some scenes are graved in my mind because I found them breath-taking.

xenillith

Completely agree with the Beyond Evil and My Mister recommendations. - Beyong Evil(2021) would be great for the psychological thriller/judicial system critique/scriptwriting/film directing/cinematography aspects. One of the best drama of that year, even won against FOE and IONTBO at the Baeksang Awards. (btw Yeo Jin Goo a.k.a Koo Chan Sung from Hotel Del Luna is one of the main leads along with Shin Ha Kyun who also played in Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance) - And My Mister(2018) would be incredible when it comes to the emotional/society commentary/post discussion aspects. It won best drama of its year at the Baeksang Awards too. (btw IU is one of the main leads along with Lee Sun Gyun who played the rich dad in Parasite) And even though I would personally prefer a Beyond Evil reaction since no reactor as reacted to it yet despite its popularity, if My Mister were to be chosen instead it would still be a perfect follow up after FOE! Note: These are slow burns and definitely not as hectic as FOE. Especially since BE is more of a police procedural, psychological thriller, and not a melodrama, romantic/crime thriller like FOE. My Mister and Beyond Evil may be pretty dark and heavy watches which is definitely not for everyone but I'm convinced you'll enjoy them considering your previous drama reactions.

xenillith

Oh and D.P. [Deserter Pursuit](2021) would be a great choice as well. It's an original Netflix mini series, and treats various themes around the S.K mandatory military service: mens struggles, harsh methods, bullying, archaic system and obviously: desertion. Both very fun and shockingly informative, a S2 is already confirmed! (btw the main lead is played by Jung Hae In the male lead in Snowdrop, and Cho Hyeon Cheol a.k.a Sanchez from Hotel Del Luna plays an important role here as well)

I highly recommend Law School. It's on Netflix, if you're asking. I usually don't watch K-dramas, but this is an exception for me.

Mesha ✌︎

Beyond evil AND Vagabond ⭐️

Emily Yen

i think you'd like D.P or extracurricular !

Anonymous

extracurricular (high schooler runs a prostitution ring to earn money), DP (about what really happens in the military), hellbound (about a creepy religious cult), snowdrop (jisoo is in it <3)

Rachel G

Happiness (one of the best of 2021 and underrated), He is Psychometric (Jinyoung from GOY7 as main lead - a mystery/action drama with some comedy), and either The Lovers of the Red Sky or The Red Sleeve if you are willing to check out a saeguk.

Nevertheless

Ara J

lmaooooo i can imagine PD and Blaire just silently judging all the characters

Ara J

I would recommend Law School PD, It’s a truly amazing drama that speaks about the society and human relationships and values being put to a test.

Mattie H.

I haven't seen anyone say this yet, but MINE on Netflix is SOOOO good!!!!! It's a murder mystery that follows the lives of 3 women who live in the Mansion/Estate of this conglomerate family. There are a lot of amazing actors and the plot is really well written in my opinion.

Leen

MY NAME! So so so good you will enjoy it for sure🙏🏻 + MY MISTER ( iu is the female lead)

I feel like happiness would be a really interesting watch for you guys considering how the writers implemented covid into the show and how it affected the overall storyline !

MY NAMEEEEEEEEEEE IS SO GOODDDDDDD

My comment may be really underrated, BUT I WANT TO SUGGEST "MOUSE". it's really good and make you have a lot of thought when watch it. a lot plot twist may happen too, kinda unexpected because it's not obvious. honestly it was one of the best rating drama, but the time it was shown on tv was overshadowed by vincenzo and penthouse! Maybe if you interested, you can check or add it on your list. I wanna tell you about the synopsis basically about mystery thriller which gonna reveal psychopath murderer. It's starring Lee Seunggi and another amazing casts! Each episode got me really scared and curious about the next one. Always has a new case that can help to guess who is the psychopath. And even had a plot twist in the mid of episode. It was fun for me! I hope you can considering this drama. If you gonna watch this, i'm happily gonna watch it with you~

Samm Kayy

My Name its really good. Also not that you have to do a reaction for this but i feel that you would like The Uncanny Counter if you ever watch it!

Yanan

happiness gets my vote! my friends and i have a little drama club where we watch and review dramas together and it had us HYSTERICAL. i'll also throw in law school and beyond evil!

Anonymous

Oh Stove League gets my vote! I also super love Hello My Twenties as it’s such a great depiction of different experiences of being in your ‘20’s and has some unique plot points. Or Navillera!!!! I really like that it has an older (+40) actor as one of the main leads! Also like the storyline as it’s focused on career and passion around that. **Edit! Also Stranger (w Bae Doona) is fantastic! One of the few mystery dramas I feel understands what mystery should be. It’s not cheesy and v surprising at all turns.

My Name is good

Sky Castle is so good. Its about the competitive education system and how it destroys many lives. It is the second highest rated drama in Korean cable television history. You can find it on Netflix.

希文 王

I can only recommend the only kdrama I watched, The Master's Sun. It's honestly really good!

Sarunii

Sky Castle! It´s from the same guy thatcreated Snowdrop, and it´s honestly the best drama I have ever seen

Sky Castle is so good! It’s one of my favorite dramas. It has a very realistic setting while also being one of the most exciting and thrilling series I’ve seen.

Anonymous

Oh and it was also huge in Korea. The OST “We All Lie” was everywhere, and everyone was imitating several of the characters. It is the second highest rated drama in Korean cable television. It started with around 1% viewership ratings, and then kept climbing each episode and ended with around 24% ratings, which is very high for a cable network. Some of the actors like Kim Hye-yoon, Jo Byung-gyu and Oh Na-ra also rose to fame afterwards.

*WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPING* or also *PRISON PLAYBOOK* which amazingly portraite prison life but in a unexpected way : no violence or heavy atmosphere, quite light and even funny scenes but still serious in terms of character stories and emotions. It is a masterpiece that I am sure you will like. Plus the quality is so goooood !!

Sakura

Hwarang and He is psychometric, would really appreciate if reacted to these two.

Safa

Crash landing on you is so good

DJ

Romantic comedy- crash landing on you, strong woman do bong soon, what's wrong with secretary kim Thriller- mouse, stranger

Petra Kamali

Oop, posted too hastily. Anyways, in an earlier comment I forgot to mention "You are my spring". It is a mix of crime, a lil' bit of suspense, romance and comedy!

채채즈

I recommend Yena's web drama "world of my 17 season 2" it's only like 20min per ep and 10 ep in season 2, so it's a nice short refreshment. The season 1 mc is arin from oh my girl, and season 2 mc is yena.

I was a big fan of hospital playlist! Gave me a lot of insight into classic korean music and some great feel-good vibes

SB

u need to check out sky castle (heavy drama) and/or hospital playlist (light but still has emotional points)!!

kometose

Throwing in "He is Psychometric" (thriller/crime/rom with a bit of sci-fi) and "Be Melodramatic" (rom-com/slice of life) which I think has pretty clever writing. Also "Search: WWW" (work/rom) and "Prison Playbook" (drama/life/com). Apologies if they've been covered!

ana

1. If you can find it somewhere since it's an older Drama: Scarlet Heart Ryeo/Moon Lovers 2. Legend of the Blue Sea is Funny and fun. 3. Mr. Queen or W-Two worlds 4. Hospital Playlist

Emily Bainbridge

It would also be an interesting change to do a Chinese Drama instead of a kdrama. Like 10 Miles of Peach Blossoms or Ashes of Love. They are just way longer in eps.

Priscilla Amador

I know someone else requested it... But Hwarang would be good. U get to see V first acting role.
