Everglow never disappoints

Sarah

Your comment about pirate lacking in onda and eu is correct - except you also forgot it’s severely lacking in Yiren. If First taught us anything, Yiren shouldn’t be forgotten and just called a visual.

It's a bit sad that most of the songs revolve around only 3 members... I mean, their songs are pure fire but as we saw with LA DI DA, having a fair line distribution wouldn't hurt the songs' quality in any way... I'm also wondering why they're starting to push E.U on the side while she was such an important and striking member in the early days of the group...

Alex

Back Together so so good

billie27

about E.U I feel like she lost a lot of confidence since their debut... you can see that the poor success of everglow took a tool on her from her stepping out as a leader and even on stage she doesn't look as confident in her performance as she used to be...

Back Together is definitely one of their slower songs but not their slowest one. I’d say their most ballad-like song is Please Please from their last single album First. It’s basically a song w just a piano accompaniment if I remember correctly. The melodies from Please Please make me cry they’re so pretty

Hey PD, I was wondering if you would wanna react to the YouTube Originals series K-Pop Evolution. It has 7 parts (25 minutes each) and I think it provides good insight into K-Pop and I thought it would be interesting to hear your thoughts as well. Also there is so many idols featured in it, it is actually really well done. In the later episodes, there is also shown a lot of STAYC predebut stuff which I thought might interest you. And what you would probably like the most is the last episode which is about making a K-Pop MV with EVERGLOW's DUN DUN as an example (which is the reason why I thought of it now lol). I think it's really worth a watch, maybe it would be a good idea to watch it on a livestream in one go instead of it being a classic patreon series?

KpopPrince

I was JUST thinking if you've reacted to this yet. Such an excellent album! Hope you are as blown away by "Don't Speak" as I was.

I think Mia gives Everglow a very unique problem because she's almost TOO good. Her vocals are amazing, she can rap well and she's a great dancer - as well as having the best stage presence from any idol ever. I do wonder, what with her also stepping down as leader of Everglow, if there's some stuff going on behind the scenes with EU and that's why she's doesn't get many lines in recent comebacks; however she has seemed more confident in variety content this comeback compared to the last one. Hopefully she's doing well though as she has buckets of talent and is a vital member of Everglow. All in all, I definately agree that this is Everglow's best album and my favourite song on the EP is 'Don't Speak', which I think is a common choice so it's funny it was your least favourite! I'd recommend checking out the dance practice video for 'Don't Speak' because I think it'll increase your appreciation for the song. Thanks for another great reaction video PD, I hope you had a happy Christmas! ^ㅂ^

100% agree PD this album definitely hit different for me too. Made me really want to get into Everglow and their concept even more. So excited for what’s next from them. Also doesn’t company sound like a mean girl song, like I can just imagine them walking up to me talking bout, “HEY YOU” gtf from our seat😂

2021-12-29 12:54:48 Ah I've been looking forward for your reaction ever since the schedule for this month came out! Love this album just like all of Everglow's albums so far, but I agree this one is the most experimental when it comes to sound so far. Lots of different genres and they pull them all off. My favourite is Don't Speak, I recommend watching a stage of them for this song, gets the feeling across even better, it's just so charming I love it! Back Together Nighty Night & Company are incredible as well, I would rank Pirate at no4 out of 5 with Company being my least favourite. But yeah, Everglow really solidified themselves as my favourite 4th gen girl group!

Wow, I'm actually very surprised that it was your least favorite!

I hope we get to see you react to some kind of Everglow variety/reality next year PD. EverglowLand (mnet reality show) or Everglow Secret 48 (camping trip series) would be really fun and give you more insight into the group. Hope you consider it!

I have the same problem for Everglow than Gidle : In nearly all their songs there is a part that just rub me the wrong way and makes me not want to listen to it again even if I like the rest of the song. For exemple Back Together is incredible but I REALLY can't bear the rap at 1:55, just the way it's delivered makes me cringe SOOOO bad. Same for Pirate, it's a powerful song, but it reminds me too much of the 2010's European (French for me) EDM song and nope don't want to go back there, it can stay in the past, heard of this too much that hearing it again makes my ear bleed ^^' Still waiting for an Everglow album that will make me fall in love with them thought

Everglow's previous Single Albums and EP really felt like the B-Side were there because they had to be included. They were usually good. But very forgettable. For instance I can only name Moon and Player out of the top of my head if anyone were to ask me about good Everglow's B-Sides. The Return of the Girl is the first time to me where they actually matter. And that's a huge step up since they kept the inherent quality of their usual title track. If I had to venture a guess I'd say 72 (Choi Jae Hyuk) is the main reason why this album is so good and sounds so much like Everglow. He's their most frequent collaborator through the group's discography.

randomAlienVisitor

Personally there has not been an Everglow song that i didn't like. I have enjoyed all of their albums.

Rakurai

Don't speak reminds me of a slice of life anime opening and I kinda love it

Christian Rodriguez

Personally, I think Pirate is by far the worst Everglow title track. Every other title song has been perfection until now. The rest of the album was amazing!

Dia

I would say Don’t Speak and Don’t Ask Don’t Tell (bside from the single album with First) sit at the same table, so I didn’t find it too jarring for Everglow. I would absolutely love to see them do a title track along the lines of Nighty Night and Company

onyx.

I agree with you that E:U deserves much more lines and rap breaks. She's an excellent rapper and has a great tone, I don't get why is she not getting more lines. she never said anything about not wanting more lines/satisfied with the lines she has. She's a main dancer too and rarely gets put in front of the stage.

blair

plz react to everglow-"please please",that's b-side in Last melody, title track is "first"

Lastelios

back togheter reminds me of louder and bomb from bts , the aaaaah part is the same

I agree, we need more E:U! I like most of their songs, but I feel like what would make them a little better would be an E:U rap verse

Hrathen

they are facing a massive uphill struggle against the fact they are from a Chinese Label, you know how democratic countries feel about anything (good or bad) coming out of China

Hrathen

personally I think its worse than bon bon chocolat and barely above adios, but below La Di Da and First by far. Its one of those that without the MV, wouldn't have hit as hard. (Though you can argue that for First as well)

Hrathen

Company sounds like a boy group song tbh, I really dig it. Feels like Ateez a bit D+1 is probably the slow song PD is thinking. It was a really nice one too, reminded me of an old chinese song I can't place my finger on, but instantly familiar tune, harmonization on that song was through the roof in the chorus
