Yay! I've been waiting for this one! Before watching this listening party I just wanted to say that I love this album and I love that it includes every track that she released before as well 🥰

Daniela Padilla

i think the label should let her do more in terms of releasing more music so her musical identity can grow step by step. i really like her sound and i do think that with the small amount of releases she has actually crafted an artistic personality and i feel (obviously with the content we have) that she really likes working with teddy and the rest of her team. i do hope her releases increase in terms of quantity so she gets to explore more even if she contributes the same amount as she does now. I don't like that yg/black label limit her number of releases but i also don't like how people jump on this hate trend of shitting on somi/blackpink music production when you can see there's actual care in what they produce. My fav track is anymore but because it aligns with my personal music taste. I think the black label is a good home for somi but they have to let her release more in order for her to let more of her potential shine.

I love somis music in such little amount of songs she already has a signature sound plus I love that teddy gives her creative freedom

I agree that Don't let me go is the most boring song on this album, at least it is the one that I tend to skip the most. For me Outta my head remains as my favorite song of hers, but Watermelon and Dumb Dumb are up there as well.

Paige

Outta My Head and Watermelon are by far my favorites off of the album. I first listened to Outta My Head when she did a performance of it along with her debut song Birthday on M Countdown and have been obsessed since. While Birthday got stuck in my head, I didn't like it that much and was disappointed. That performance of Outta My Head was the reason that I decided to keep up with Somi and her comebacks. I think she has incredible musical abilities, but her time at JYP and the criticisms that she received significantly affected her. She has talked about how low her self-esteem became on a few programs in the past, and I've watched her get very emotional on her "I am Somi" series talking about her music. Right now I'm thinking that the reason she has only those 2 songs as being almost completely done by her, is not because of Teddy or the black label stopping her, but rather by her own accord and that she's rebuilding her confidence in her abilities. I think Teddy believes in her and is really pushing her to take more of a lead in her music but she is taking baby steps to get there. tbh I don't blame her for being wary. She's been in the public eye since Sixteen when she was 14 years old. I can only imagine the shitty things she's heard/read about herself during those formative years. And now her solo music is constantly being compared to Blackpink and the other IOI girls like Chungha. idk how she handles all of it and she's 2 years younger than me. All in all I'm really looking forward to her music and can't wait to see her become more confident in both her voice and her ability to create awesome music.

been waiting!!

i agree so hard with the ‘have teddy step back and let somi be more hands on’ i would really enjoy this with her title tracks. somi has a great personal style and not many people realize it because they dont like her titles. teddy has done okay work on her music but i feel somi should have more control

kie

i agree!! i can tell she doesn’t mind what teddy gives and she loves working with him and her team but i also think giving her more time to shine with her own personal style (with more releases and more tracks) people would truly get her

kie

and control in the sense of how many tracks she can write and produce on. teddy gives her a lot of control more than others have but there is obviously a limit and i think he should kind of let her do her thing, she’d probably suprise him

kie

i never thought about it like that wow!

2021-11-27 13:39:36 Somi’s voice is really so beautiful, total ear candy. “Don’t Let Me Go” isn’t a great song but her vocals are still so good. I think it’s really cool that she wrote & composed 2 whole songs! And they were bops! I do love her title tracks but I’d love to see more of her compositions in the future

i hope PD will react to "I am Somi" so he can see how Somi and Teddy also The Black label work together. They are a Family, not just a business relationship 😭😭

I feel like PD would like “I AM SOMI” it’s a great introduction to her. One of the episodes also featured a tiny bit of Somi’s beginning stages in the production and writing of Watermelon. Hope you’ll consider watching it someday if you’re for it

Her song is not bad just Okay. Honestly for me the only song from her that I can vibe was XOXO. Although I still listen to the whole album to support my girl.

whatever happened to that Twice listening party for formula of love?

I'll be doing it in December! Just could not fit it in short notice. It's why I release stuff a month later.

Somi has grown leaps and bounds. Watermelon has been teased almost since Birthday was released, to the point were she’s talked about writing it and sang spoilers during music shows when promoting What you waiting for. I think it definitely met peoples expectations of it. 100% the best song on the album. Anymore is great. I think this is a tease for her western debut that’s coming. She signed to Interscope in July of 2020 so we know it’s coming. They also promoted this album some in ads for the USA. To that point Somi talked about how her and Teddy first wrote the lyrics to Dumb Dumb fully in English and then decided to release it in Korean. Her western influences are no joke. I can’t wait to see what she does next! Don’t let me go isn’t my favorite but it’s grown on me. I have to say that chorus immediately popped in my head when you said the title. Overall I agree though that it’s not very groundbreaking.
