Cai Bing actually gave a lot of her killing parts to Jia, which we didn’t even see because mnet was too focused on making her the bad guy of the team. yeah she wasn’t a good leader but atleast show her compromising with the team as well?

Both the salute and ice cream performances were phenomenal and can understand how hard it was to choose between them but in my opinion I would have chosen ice cream in the end. It’s not because of the how the leaders both did their job cause at the end of the day they all did a good job but because ice cream stood out to me more. To me not all the salute members stood out to me only ji A, doah, the Japanese trainee(forgot her name) and i think that’s about it. None of the other trainees made me want to find out more about them compared to ice cream where I wanted to check out about all the members. That’s what made me enjoy the performance more because it got me intrigued and made me excited with the performance. But overall both performances were great. The other category winners were well deserved as well.

Some Chinese contestants said after the show ended that the translators were never around so they had a very hard time communicating with the others. I think that explains a lot, but of course mnet would try to make them look as bad as possible.

Ok i'm gonna say this, i'm not the biggest cai bing fan (and its not because of the leadership thing, there were just more trainees that caught my atention more than her), with that being said, u can see since the start of this survival show, mnet has been coming for the chinese girls like they were despicable beings, and this is not spoiler because since day one of the show you can notice this things, so PD don't trust everything u see on this show because mnet's evil editing is no joke. Leaving that behind, for this mission my favorite performance were 1. Ice cream: omg dayeon is my queen, i love that girl so much, since this performance i knew i was done, she was going to be my bias for the whole show, i love how she managed to pull off such great performance while making the entire choreography, btw, some trainess that were eliminated, said that bahiyih help her leading the team, mnet just won't give the poor girl screen time. Ikema ruan has been coming for my neck since this performance as well, i love them all, they are my children. 2. Mafia in the morning: my girl fu yaning SERVING, literally this team is so high up just because of her singing, she ate that performance. Mashiro and jiwon did great but yaning, omg yaning i couln't take my eyes off her. 3. Fate: i cant believe i cried watching a dance performance, the girls voice suit so much this song that it made the whole thing so much better, my girls yeseo and ruiqi acted so good, i really loved it so much, it could be number 2 but i just love dayeon so much lol. 4. We are: MANAMI MANAMI MANAMI, gosh that girl, i didn't even know who she was before this mission, i'm just going to say her rap made me ask myself if she really was a vocalist, my girl is an ace, vocals ✔, rap ✔, dance ✔, visuals ✔, bora's leadership skills are top notch, i once saw a comment saying that u probably already picked this on but the best leaders on this show are mashiro, bora and dayeon. Finally, i was just so amazed by this 4 performaces i really got nothing to say about the other teams, there were some really good performances i liked but thats all. Good reaction pd ❤

I would like to let you know more of your thoughts on the My Sea perfomance because you didn’t talk about it during the end. Also, I think it’s important to keep in mind that voting closed 2 days after this episode so whatever happened this episode had less of an impact.

mistranslation and clip selection to evil-edit Cai Bing in this episode was terrible. especially mistranslation. to make dayeon look like an angel you don't need to bring down other trainees, since she literally already is one. the phrase "i'm the leader and i can do what i want" was originlly "i'm the leader and what i say matters", etc. because of this episode that cai bing's reputation took an enormous blow when she just wanted her team to do well

For me I believe ice cream should've won. Dayeon really made a great stage and everyone made n impact. Yes salute was cool to watch cause they had the fire and everything, but Dayeon was able to take a song like ice cream and make the performance enjoyable. You know for salute it was the type of performance I expected. Ice cream caught be by surprised and had be in a chokehold, I catch myself rewatching it all the time.

Cai Bing was the biggest victim of the infamous "MNET evit edit" this season, for sure. She wasn't the best leader and people were frustrated in the moment, but it's annoying we didn't get to see how the team RESOLVED their problems like some of the previous team disharmonies (as evident in how members like Doah hugged and congratulated Cai Bing after their performance - them seemingly being cool with each other now). So all viewers were left with was, Cai Bing = BAD.

I think deciding which is the best performance is very difficult, but my personal favourite is Mafia in the Morning, I like the concept, I like their vocals and I think Fy Yaning really stand out in the performance with her deeper voice and her facial expressions. I also really enjoyed My Sea actually, I think all the members did a really good job, loved all the adlibs, I just feel bad for Jiyoon. I hope PD will continue with the other Produce series as well (even though they are rigged, the contestants should be respected), cuz I watched all 4 seasons and saw how the programme evolved over the years. Although Girls Planet 999 is supposed to be "different", which the voting and some rules within the show are different, they are very similar overall. But I love how they used to do competitions within the same positions, I think it makes more sense for them to battle for the same talent, also it will be easier for the audience to pick their best performance. And WOODZ in Produce X 101.... I mean I guess most of the people get to know him there so....

Ye although Mafia In the morning team won and I don't disagree, they were not a solid "vocal" performance. I personally prefer My house perf as well. And the fact that you're rooting hard for Youngeun makes me so happy. She's truly the ace of the whole competition and more people should realize that.

Chaehyun would normally talk about not having much confidence and we've seen her mess up a bit, but I love how her mistakes are not what come up when thinking about her, it's her presence, her beautiful voice and her team work skills which always helped the groups she was in get better and get closer to each other

What's even more impressive about Ayana (the Japanese girl performing My House) is that she's 14. She was born Dec 12th, 2006.

Yeah...I get showing the girls reactions to some of the things Cai Bing said (granted she's not the best leader), but at least show everything that happened and let the viewers decide for themselves. I can't believe how badly they treated a lot of the C girls with the editing on this show.

about the winners i totally agree with Fate and Salute winning the rounds but even tho Mafia team was great i really wish My House had won because for me they did better, with that said i would have chose Ice Cream team over the Salute they were both incredible and the two top performances for me so i think overwall speaking neither did better or worse than the other they were pretty equal, the only reason i choose Ice Cream is because for me it feels like EVERYONE in their team stood out and had their moment to shine as in Salute there were some that i didnt notice compared to others especially Ji A who killeeeed it so thats the only thing but both choreos were difficult and absolutely everyone in both teams did amazing also the best performances for me were hands down Salute, Ice Cream, Fate and My House!

Upshot

I think despite all of these performances being really good and me having the same three winning performances as the judges, this was around the time I kind of stopped liking the show and it became more of a chore to watch (therefore not sure if I'll be around to rewatch further on). Partly because the anti Chinese editing became so blatant (Btw: Liang Jiao had gastroentiritis, which would have been an important fact, when they focus so much on how often she had to go to the bathroom) and this just after some of the eliminated C-girls started speaking up about how bad they were treated by staff compared to the Korean and Japanese trainees. This might change over time when they get good songs or have fun variety shows (both quite likely), but at the moment my distaste for the show is still to the point that I'm not excited at all for their debut even though I really rooted for some of the girls. But thankfully the coming months are full of promising girl group debuts, so there will be enough groups for everybody

My favorite performances this round were Ice cream, MAFIA in the morning and Fate, I always comeback to watch those, and my fav trainees were Yaning, Dayeon, Ji A and Bahiyyih

Before the episode I was really rooting for the All About You team to do good since I liked Yeyoung and Xingqiao. Their perfomance was nice and even the little mistake Xingqiao made during the performance was not that noticeable but the problem is that the competition was really too fierce in the 3-person groups specially with Mafia, My House and We are performing that well. I also think that My House should have won and honestly I think the best decision Youngeun made was going for vocals because let's face it....there were too many good rappers and dancers contestants in this phase of the competition. To stand out she needed to do something different and her cell was number 2 so she had a lot of freedom to pick and going for something that people already seen from her wouldn't have benefitted her at all. She caught my attention to a lot more after this perfomance. In the 6-person groups it was really a shame that Jiyoon couldn't pull it off the high note or else they could have been a real contender to win against the Fate team. In the 9-person groups...yeah Cai Bing's leadership was not the best but in the end the performance was good. A shame we couldn't see how they resolved their problems and also that most people at the time didn't have the same mindset as PD: Cai Bing being a bad leader didn't make the Salute performance awful and neither does it make Cai Bing a bad person. Being the oldest contestant on the show she was probably desperate to show she could do more than just perform well so she took a role she maybe wasn't fit for to try to stand out. So overall the performances that caught my attention were We are, My House, Mafia and Ice Cream. And the trainees that impressed me were Dayeon, Chaehyun, Youngeun, Yaning and Manami. Also shout out to Kotone for calling out Mnet on her rap in VVS for her lack of screentime on the show. Also just an aside that I wanted to talk about the Mafia team. In online discussions at the time a lot of people were saying that Mnet should have made the storyline for that team about how Mashiro felt to perform an Itzy song since she almost made it into Itzy to give her the spotlight. An as a person who had her as one of their picks I'll say thank god they didn't since a lot of people also thought that the only reason Mashiro ranked high was because she had a sob story of not debutting in Itzy and being a ex-JYP trainee. And they already talked about it in the first episode...if they kept pushing that angle people watching would definitely be turned off by her just like when Mnet gives too much screentime to one or two trainees and watchers start feeling that certain trainees are being shoved into their faces.

I learned that you really have to watch MNET survival shows with your own lens. When you look close, you'll realize how many things don't match up or aren't shown on purpose. The treatment of C-trainees on this show drives me crazy.

My personal winners for the combination missions would be Fate, Ice Cream, and We Are (even though I was very happy with MAFIA team bc Mashiro was my top Japanese pick from the beginning)

btw! it was revealed by a pd of the show recently that youngeun didnt even know she could sing before the show! the fact that shes so naturally good at singing, while also being a great dancer and rapper (she rapped in the kick it demo stage) is truly amazing!!! it was the my house performance that made her my one pick!

Ice cream is my favorite performance from this entire show! It also went viral on YouTube! With the VVS practice situation with Jiao it was revealed later that she had a stomach virus so she kept having to go to the bathroom. The editing is also just getting worse for the C participants. I am not a Cai Bing fan but she did end up giving a few of her killing parts to Jia but it was never shown. The next elimination episode was very intense (in my opinion at least) looking forward to seeing how you’ll react to those who are safe!

I liked Salute a lot, esp Ji Ah and Do Ah stood out to me most. But I feel like overall Ice Cream just felt... better like it was a genuine performance everyone enjoyed and it was just a performance. With Salute I couldn't really forget this was an elimination/competition stage and kept trying really hard to over-analyze everything and how I felt. With Ice Cream I just enjoyed the whole performance and was genuinely just really hyped and didn't really focus on "watching" everyone. Ice Cream was def my fav. Also My Sea bc I love that song so much and they did such a great job. Esp Shana and ChaeHyun (but a lot of ppl too). Really regretful they weren't able to pull it off perfectly. Also really love Fate (the movie is amazing). They did a great job with the song!

So from the 3 member teams my favourites were: 1. Mafia 2. My House 3 We Are My reasoning for Mafia as 1st place is that imo if you take all 3 members combined they were stronger than the My House team. Youngeun was the strogest out of all of them & Ayana was great but the Chinse girl just didnt stood out to me at all, but with the Mafia team I think everyone shined at certain moments. But I get your reasoning that Yaning & Jiwon overdid it at times. For the 6 member teams I 100% agree with your comment, this was by far the easiest choice. The Fate performance was probably my favourite of the entire show, it's just very rare and special that a dance performance can make so many people tear up. The whole team killed it, but Yeseo's acting abilities really stood out here for me. For Ice Cream vs Salute, i preferred Ice Cream but it's probably due to what you said about the leadership. If you just look at the performances it's a toss up. I really liked your comments on Cai Bing and the leadership mess of this performance. I really like her & i still think highly of her but she really didnt do herself a favour with her comments and how she handled being in charge. Also the other ones didnt really step up to her to eventually clear up all the issues between them so I agree when you said they were a bit lucky everything worked out in the end with the amazing performance. The Ice Cream team on the other hand was the ideal of what an idol group should look like when it comes to team work and leadership, so I think if both performances are equally good that should've been awarded, but I'm fine with the Salute team winning as well. Overall this was my favourite mission, so many great songs, performances, surprises etc. Cant wait for next weeks reaction!

Can I just say I love Sunmi's reaction when Kotone (JP rapper in VVS) just did a diss rap to Mnet editing? LMAO that was a priceless reaction. Between Ice Cream and Salute, I really can't pick! Both were good performances. Truly only comes down to preference. On this one, the entertainment value (for me) goes with Ice Cream since I felt the excitement as well. Fate team. Oh my goodness. The assignment was facial expressions, and they killed it to a T. It's an emotionally-charged performance and they did so with flying colors. The chemistry in this team is nice. Well deserved win for them. I feel the dilemma of the Planet Masters for this one. MAFIA and My House did well, but I like the way Ya-le produced My House that suits them. The fact that her, Youngeun, and Ayana were able to resolve their problems made for a really memorable performance. MAFIA team just outshined them, but only by a little. Really good for these girls!!

The script that Mnet wanted for Cai Bing worked because the edited scenes together. The best example was the scene where they decided that Cai Bing and the other trainiee would do a part together. As Cai Bing was never in the scene while discussing that change for the one trainee to do it Solo. But when they where unhappy with them doing it together she was there. Please check their hair in the different cuts, because their hair changes from mesy to smoth to messy, that proves the editing. The fact that so many Chinese girls are in the top 9 at this point probably is a factor to consider as the show goes on. The next few episodes will prove my point that Dayoung is Mnets child. Don't take this the wrong way, but what you said about Cai Bing is what Mnet wanted to make you think. Look at the amount of times they made Cai Bing look bad to the times they praised Dayoung. Where as Dayoung got only compliments Cai Bing got draged through the mud and she was bailly visible in the Salut performance, because she defenatly gave away parts that she had. In the Salute performance you had no coments on Cai Bing, as she had no proper killing part that she had during the midturn evaluations. Thisnis not about being of beat or not. No way the Center only had the intro where she had about 5 secs of screan time and some bodywaves in the middle? You underestemat the editing. Don't take this the wrong way. I hope you read this comment, as I hope most international fans are of the same opinion. Even if I think Cai Bing is not the best leader we never saw if the girls actually expressed what Dayoungs flows where. Dayoung=hero K01 and Cai Bing=villan C?.)

haven't finished the whole show, what Cai Bing said (in that clip about two people dancing) is "(I'm the leader-said in Korean), 我覺得我說的最算" which translates to "I think my opinion matters most/has most weight/counts the most". as someone who lives adjacent to China (Taiwan), I can say that because of their general upbringing Chinese people are more fierce and competitive, they call it 狼性 (wolf-nature or however they translate that), doesn't mean they're evil obviously, but it can come across like a lawn mower running other people down even if that's not their intention Edit: favorite performances are Ice Cream, Fate, My House, Salute, My Sea. Ice Cream especially because I wasn't a fan of the original song (among kpop in general and blackpink songs) and Dayeon really made all the girls stand out, which is something that Salute didn't quite do for me (even though technically theirs is more complex? this is disregarding the Cai Bing thing)

I think ice cream just about edges it out for me. I just enjoyed watching the whole thing wholely whereas in salute, some parts utterly amazed me and some were just pretty good. and not as many of the members stood out. risako's choreo parts left me in such awe though! but ice cream really put dayeon on the map for me when i thought she was just ok before. Something i would like to say that I haven't seen people mention as much so far is, I'm so glad a group with several top9 members chose to show their talents in a different way and do a performance like this (Fate) compared to the girl crush act that people have come to expect from them (like 'how you like that') bc they're so cool etc. Like this had full on emotion and passion put into it and YOU CAN TELL. They're some of the best and they were able to pull it off the best. And you can see the effect it had on people, bringing them to tears and touching their hearts. They put their talents to work and put on such a beautiful performance and we might not have gotten it if they went with smt like mafia or no excuses to fit "their vibe" better. And I'm so in love with the voices in my sea. It's a shame about jiyoon. But I really enjoyed seeing shana nail her part, and omg chaehyun's falsettos. Also i really enjoyed finally seeing xu ziyin showcase some of her amazing vocals. Finally, for my "x kinda looks like y" portion haha. It kinda hit me part of the way through that yale, the short haired chinese girl from my house kinda looks like hyuna. and also that moana (the japanese girl in fate, one of the non top9 other than may) looks a LOT like olivia hye, in that peformance and style at least.

The GP999 rendition of IU's My Sea was so sentimental. Chaehyun and Shana were the backbone of the song and truly delivered. Even though there were some misses, the lyrics and emotion of that song always gives me the feels. Also, Salute was straight fire!

Ice Cream is actually my favorite performance in all of gp 999. The fact that Dayeon did all of that herself and also made me love this performance even though I hate Ice Cream as a song alone. So for me they were better than Salute
