For videos that say they don't exist, are we able to watch them somewhere else??

Sarahvtae

Pls fix the links for Sweet Home, if you still have the video files. Season 2 is confirmed, so a lot of ppl will probably wanna watch your reactions to season 1.

Tw*. Maybe hyunsoo’s habitual self harm is in to play with his final transformation. I also think that hyunsoo was definitely acting with eui myeong and the others. At some point it was obvious that eui myeong knew and was just playing along. Until he wasn’t. Eui myeong's only goal that we know is to gather up more people like them, and hyunsoo’s motivation at the time was maybe to put or become a barrier of defense between both groups. Keeping eui myeong closer to himself and away from the group was probably the only thing hyunsoo could think of as a form of protection. Especially not knowing the extent of eui myeong’s abilities .

I never finished reading the WEBTOON but I checked out the summary of the webtoon and it’s very different from the show once the violent group of psychos enter the building.

Gosh I've been waiting on season 2 of this show forever now! There still is wayyyyy tooo much conflicting information for my hopes to be high for it happening anytime soon. I will be sad if it does happen because we've lost quite a few of my favorite characters. Also if you ever need another Lee Dohyun show he guest stars in a few episodes of one of my favorite k-dramas Beyond Evil. It's a similar type of show to the Devil Judge so maybe after you finish it if you need another series. His acting is so amazing. I knew he seemed familiar but when I found out he was Eunhyuk in Sweet Home I lost my mind.

yeah i think it was intentional that the arm he self-harmed was the one that turned into the wing, especially when you consider one of the following scenes where the kid wrapped his scarf around where hyunsoo's scars were. plus the spikes(?) on the wing kind of reminded me of what the scars looked like.

You know, I really liked when the show had those scenes where it split from Hyunsu and his monster inside trying to tempt him. Those scenes felt like a complete anime and I really dug it. I know knetz heavily criticized Song Kangs acting but I thought he did a good job showing the little emotions his character was given. I liked the gangster and how we got o see his journey throughout the season. Lee Dohyun was also a good character and while I would argue that he did break his logical character a bit and did show a lot of emotions in the thick of it, I think it made him much more human and that really made his character tug a little more at the heart when his final scene happened. For monsters, the dude with no eyes was one that stuck out to me the most and I liked watching the characters navigate around the monsters sensitive hearing. Overall, I agree with the 7/10 rating. i enjoyed watching but there were a lot of points that seemed a little confusing or just lacking. I do think that, considering it's only ten episodes, that they did good with what they had and the story they were trying to tell at the end of the day. The gangster(evil dude), Hyunsoo, and the fire fighter seem like the only characters that would have an interesting story in the second season. I also have the theory that Lee Dohyun could probably return considering they never actually showed him dying. I've actually seen this show a couple times with different people so I will say, with each time I like it more.

hate to be a bummer but like most of the cast isn't coming back for season 2 so......definitely not that excited to watch it

I really do recommend reading the Webtoon. The story different vastly from webtoon toward the ending when the criminals came in. Also the firefighter lady was not in comic, which why she lack a lot of substance and story.

I'm a little disappointed that they just killed off a ton of characters this episode, but the way they killed a lot of them was pretty powerful, so I'm more ok with it than I thought I was going to. Overall I think this is a show with a really good premise, really good acting, and interesting monster designs, that is held back by bad pacing, weird tone shifts, and unpolished writing ideas. Definitely giving it a 7/10 because I really enjoyed watching it even if I didn't think it was written very well. I am very interested in a continuation of this, because there are a ton of things they can explore with this world and what they've set up so far, and if they do a good job the show has a lot of potential to be a lot better.

I am not a source material purist at all, but this one was a bit of a miss for me as someone who really enjoyed the webtoon. The pacing and the tone were just extremely inconsistent. I think the show really would have benefited from about 4 or 5 less side characters considering most of them never got any development and were essentially forgettable. I think even having more of a 'faceless' group of background survivors would have been better rather than this presentation that made me feel like I was supposed to care about and know them all individually. The tone could also be really jarring at times, as though the show couldn't quite figure out if it wanted to be a horror, a realistic social commentary, a dark comedy or a stylized OTT action drama. The monsters also only ever seemed like a threat when it was convenient for the plot - we could spend half an episode seeing the treacherous journey up the building and then the next episode everyone is just back safely in the basement without even a throwaway line about the difficulty of getting a man in a wheelchair down a stairway crawling with horrifying monsters. Overall, I just think there was too much trying to be crammed into not enough episodes. A mutating monster curse, an orphaned protag, a school bullying/self-harm backstory, a gangster for justice, a dead fiance with government conspiracy ties, an unexpected pregnancy, a toxic brother/sister relationship, a spousal abuse story line, a random bout of appendicitis at the worst time... I could go on and on. Lessening the number of different plot points could've really made the remaining ones so much more compelling and fleshed out. That being said... I didn't hate the show. Like you guys realized about half way through - I had to just be in a different mindset when I sat down to watch it. It was a popcorn drama for me - just put it on and enjoy the ride and the craziness and the wild visuals and take it for more of a comic book style action show. I was definitely entertained and that was enough for me. Something I found interesting is that the writer of the webtoon said that they didn't want the adaptation to follow their material directly and were more interested in seeing the director's interpretation. In their interview they were really happy with the way the show came out, despite the many changes. I'd be really interested to hear PD's take on this, as a filmmaker. I wonder if the webtoon author themselves felt the source material was too ambitious or difficult to adapt for the screen properly (especially given the episode count) and so they were more comfortable giving free reign to the director and seeing what they came up with.

Vika~

The green gel monster as explained in the webtoon was actualy more of an invisible monster and not goo. It was a kid that his mom hid in the closet when there was danger i think and he wanted to dispear/hide so he wouldnt be found.

The last news about season 2 that I read said that if they are planning a season 2, they would have to either make it like NOW, wait a LONG while or not feature Song Kang at all, because I think Song Kang has to serve in the military next year and if Song Kang already has signed projects before he enlists, then it's gonna be very difficult.

onyx.

time to consider watching alice in borderland ^^

Brianna

I totally agree that she has survivors guilt and she probably felt incredibly guilty that her brother gave up his life to support her. Treats him like shit because she feels she’s undeserving and he should have abandoned her after there parents died.

Sarahvtae

Yes, that's definitely something PD and Blaire would enjoy!!!

I totally agree about Eunhyuk being the best character here. I have seen a lot of comments hating on him but, as it was mentioned, he did what he had to do. Being a leader means you have to put aside your personal feelings in order to keep the majority of people safe. I’m still hoping they didn’t announce Dohyun’s return to make a surprise, I do believe his character might have lived (depending on his schedule, the man is booked and busy lol). Also The Swordsman last scene just broke me, I cried a river. I genuinely liked him, eunhyuk and the gangster the most. Thank you for your reaction! I binge watched and it really helped me to get distracted from my mental problems. Now I can also rewatch the devil judge and squid game with your take 😌
