I study/work in English translation and I am learning a few more languages (including korean), and I really wish I could work in song translation because I think it's a shame that it is not as well translated as books and literary works, for example, where we learn to translate the artists' style and overall vibe in writing. I wish I could apply that to music since it is a shame for the people who don't speak the original language. Anyway great LP!!

I love the choreography for Sunny, it's very playful ad fun. I would recommend watching a live stage of Sunny if anyone particularly enjoyed the song! And the part PD pointed out that he liked in the song is well emphasized during the choreo as well.

Narcissism and 1/6 are top-tier b-sides, joining Black Pearl on the podium <3

My bad I didn’t know, how good is it 🤭 thx PD 🙏

If you check out the song credits for Sunmi's previous work, she and FRANTS are the main producers of her music. Obviously not all the title tracks, but definitely the majority of her b-sides (Black Pearl? All her and FRANTS), that's why Call, 1/6, and Narcissism sound like "Sunmi" - they're literally hers 😁 EDIT TO ADD: Sunmi has also been infamously practicing her English on Stan Twitter for the last 2-3 years, so uhh... Make your own conclusions from there lol

Narcissism is sooo good!! My favorite 🙏🏻🙏🏻

I can't put world about how much I love this EP. For me it's perfect from the beginning to the end. From the name of the album, to the order of the tracklist (starting with bright/fun/sassy songs to slowly go to deep, sensible ones, ending with Boderline), etc, etc. I just listen to the full album again again and again, and the follow up of Call-Narcissic-Bordeline k*ll me everytime. This album really feel like a new beginning for Sunmi and it just makes me soooo curious about how she will flourish after this album, especially when Hey You still have to be released as an official track (inedit song sung with Boderline during her world tour)

This album is fantastic, especially "Narcissism"! Easily one of the best songs of the year 🎉

(and I love the fact that YCSWU, being the most "mainstream" of this album, is the title track. It makes the b-side even more precious. Sunmi's casual listener want bright/quirky/confident songs from her, and she gave them what they wanted for so long after Siren (love Noir, Lalaly, Pporappippam and Tail, but they just didn't worked as much). This way the b-sides really feel like a gift : "if you like my work enough to go listen to the b-sides, then, here, I give it to you my vulnerability and my dark thoughts". It sounds logical to me that the most personal songs are the b-sides and far in the album. The follow up of 1/6 - Call - Narcissic - Boderline makes perfect sense

MY GOD I had the same reaction when I first heard Narcissism. Except I was just left speechless after the song ended and I genuinely had to take a break lol. It was just too! good!!! I would say 1/6 and Narcissism are my favourite tracks in this EP. I do agree with you on the aspect of english lyrics. Sunmi’s bright but I feel that her english lyrics don’t really reflect that. (I personally cringed a lot when I first listened to the rap verse in YCSWU) But after a while, I just forgot about it? I feel like the rest of the songs in the album balanced it out and it just made me forget the complaints I had :D Anyways, this EP is by far my favourite work from Sunmi. It would've been perfect if 보라빛 밤 was added as well since I love that song so fucking much.

PD I’m a little behind and trying to catch up on previous listening parties, this one seems to not be working. Just thought I’d give you a heads up.

I think your memory plays tricks on you when it comes to You Can't Sit With Us. Michel “Lindgren” Schulz makes amongst the most workaday instrumental. and arrangement there is. Even more so with the retro trend where it seems he only uses the presets for beats and instruments from the 80's/Disco/Funk folder. Melanie Fontana makes pretty good toplines though. Your question about instrumental vs. topline is tricky because it pretty much depends on the song and whether or not the hooks are included in the vocal melody. Gashina is an instrumental hook (Kind of Teddy Park's trademark btw) and so is Lalalay. Now Siren, that's a topline driven chorus. The vocals are more satisfying to me, especially if there's some interesting take in the melody like Rosé's Gone vs. On the Ground. But I do appreciate the kind of mysterious instrumental hooks like Dreamcatcher - And There Was No On Left. So it's a tie for me.

Fun fact: both Sunmi's "You can't sit with us" and TWICE's "I can't stop me" have high bpms (145, respectively 150) and use that bass arpeggiator synth sound as the base of the instrumental (very retro sounding) so that might be where this feeling of it suiting a girl group is coming from. Both in minor keys too. I feel like the overall vibe is similar.
