I'm pausing my viewing to answer PD's question =D I'm in France and we definitely do have this kind of regional 'wisdom' thing going on even though it might be changing as younger people tend to move around more. France still has strong regional identities and each region has its specific countryside, my great-grandmother from normandy had a really strong accent and some funny sayings, my great-grandfather from the south did too. I also have family in Brittany and boy do they have a strong regional identity (drinking songs included)!

I'm from the suburban part of central Texas, so we have a good mix of both the urban and country parts of the US. I've never really thought about it but yeah, most of the idioms and "nuggets of wisdom" come from people who grew up in more rural areas, especially from my parents and grandparent's generations. It definitely has to do with a life "speed" I think, a lot of those people spend more time talking to each other and enjoying the simple parts of life and aren't as focused on trendy stuff and ambitions and such.

Wow hi I’m French too (don’t live in France tho, I live in Germany as I‘m also German) and I had ancestors in Brittany from my mom’s side until my great-great-grandfather I believe, I’m not sure about my great-grandparents but my grandfather and my mother are from Paris. Just thought I’d share^^

Fun Fact about Germany: Many People (especially from the countryside or people especially close to their culture) don't call themselves German but are more specific. For example, I'm swabian. Our Dialect is pretty much a whole other language. Like.... Eng: Nothing was ever stolen from here! Ger: Hier wurde noch nie etwas gestohlen! Swabian: Dohannarom isch no nia was wegkomma! There are A LOT of region specific dialects, idioms, ways of life, manners ec in germany. Like, most of what Americans specifically know as "German" is actually Bavarian because most of the U.S Soldiers were stationed in Bavaria.

Another note on French, there's about 75 different dialects but only a few true different regional languages (some that are still taught in school) and France being a big melting pot history-wise we have Germanic languages, neo-latin ones and Breton that is a Celtic language and doesn't sound like anything else!

Im from Brazil and here we also have this countryside type of people but here i think there are a lot more than in America because here every State has their own countrysides and in every State some cultural aspects that are different and unique and different slangs/ways of speaking so for their countrysides this difference is even bigger like theres a countryside region up North that their accent and the words they use are so different from the rest of the country that when people who arent from there hear them speak they dont even understand what theyre saying

The reaction shots from the cat are so funny!
