I 100% agree with your opinion on kcontact's filming. The ar stuff just makes me feel like they're trying too hard. At the end of the day fans just want to see some amazing performances by the artists and that doesn't need to include this weird futuristic thing they have going on. I've watched a few of the live kpop concerts during the pandemic and those were 10x better in video production. I think that kcontact wants us to think "wow look at how amazing this is! Maybe this is the future" and well if this video production is the future, I want nothing to do it lol. Felt like some weird trip. Even from my untrained eye, I could tell something was weird about it. I'm happy to hear about your expertise and why it felt that way to me. They spent so much time on the ar stuff but can't even spell jiwoo right in the beginning (I did notice it was spelled correct at the top during the performance). Despite the weird filming, I loved having a bit of a Good Girls reunion!

Also, I'm just wondering if the major music shows can come up with some simpler set design? The complex backdrops and lights and stuff are just not great for steaming, especially with the shit bitrate that they upload at. The rapid camera movements as well.

Not only do they upload at a poor bit rate but then YouTube compression also muddies videos in general so it can get really bad.

I may not like the quality but the only reason I may appreciate this is the special collabs and custom performances we get

Personally I don’t pay attention to KCONTACT that much and I agree with your statement that if the performance is not good or shot well the AR production around will not help it… But! I did enjoy this AR thing during last MAMA performances, for example Twice - Cry For Me, or the whole idea of SMEnt’s and JYPEnt’s Beyond Live Concerts with this production in it. I know MAMA did not have the vibe of real fans fanchanting and enjoying it, but it gives those performances a new value. The same with Beyond Live concerts. When I watched NCT 2020 online concert, it was not just watching a video on the internet, it felt like: “Okay, because of fucking pandemic, we cannot do this in a normal way, so at least we give you this to make it unique”.
