it's saying the video does not exist?

Jade

hey PD, hope you check out ENHYPEN and HI when you finish I-LAND!

Andreeeea

I low key miss the part 1 hair cut. That was iconic. I don't know if the part 2 hair cut was supposed to be a mullet or something, but either way, i don't like the direction they were going with his hair

Anonymous

The part two haircuts are so bad 😂 some of them definitely look butchered. I actually agree w you that Heeseung looked so natural in this song.

serenity

I personally hated all of the haircuts made during I-LAND part 2. It's crazy how their hair looked great before when they did it themselves, but once stylists came in it was a mess, especially for Taki they really messed up his hair and then eliminated him HOW RUDE

BaoziBang

Hanbin actually performed at the 2021 New Years Eve Live. Would love to see you check it out, I would be interested what you think in comparison to what he has shown in Iland! https://youtu.be/Zj_VOoKjogE

JustCakie

I BAWLED when Ni-ki got second place the first time I watched iland. He got ran through for weeks it was so nice to see him light up like that. Jakes haircut in part 2 is definitely questionable to say the least

JustCakie

Also I can see what you mean about Jakes dancing especially considering his short training time and the fact he hasn’t grown up dancing having lived in Australia his whole life but cant agree about his vocals. The boys voice is silllkkyyyy

Iris

PD, after watching the finale, you should definitely check out their studio choom for given taken👁👁

Malaki.H

Dude is it just me or does sunghoon really resemble got7 Mark

serenity

I hated watching this episode when it aired I hated seeing Jungwon so low and Hanbin getting eliminated (although I understand why he was now)

serenity

PD JUST A HEADS UP! Episode 12 is EXCRUTIATING to sit through. Honestly it's the worst/best episode of I-LAND. Half of the show was live so there are awkward pauses, REALLY bad camera shots and the host takes 5000 million years to announce the final lineup ugh I hated sitting through it and I would almost encourage you to watch the lineup announcement on double speed or something it was that bad. But I also think it's the best episode because I personally got my perfect lineup and now Enhypen is my favorite group. I can't wait to see your thoughts on the final episode, and I hope you check out Enhypen's first comeback on April 26th to see how much they've grown over this past few months they are unbelievable imo

Delphine Vdh

I'm just realizing you will have finished i-land right before enhypen's comeback. That's what I call perfect timing XD

Teagan

Hey PD, I want to know your thoughts on if Hanbin could be a solo artist rather than a group member because of his singing style and vocals since they don't really fit with other's well

NG

Can't wait to watch the finale with you next week! Only thing I will emphasize going into it is that the top 6 were all from global voters- and voters could only vote for ONE person. The 7th gets in by producer's choice. One thing about the voting is that there was a lot of psychology and strategy involved, such as "this person will definitely be safe so I can afford to vote for someone else who I think needs it more" or "oh shit, this person is in danger, hurry, everyone spare him some votes instead of your bias.” Regarding the ranking, the only one that I wanted to be higher was Jay. I thought he really stood and did great, but I guess the judges were more impressed by Sunghoon’s performance given that he went into the test disadvantaged, but still did well according to what they were looking for from that song. And they definitely did Jake and Taki dirty with the hair. I don’t know what they were thinking. Jake’s hair suited him perfectly in Part 1, and Taki looked adorable with his original hair as well.

?

It would be really interesting to hear your thoughts about ENHYPEN’s comeback after you watch I-LAND. It’s crazy how much everyone has improved compared to their debut! When I-LAND is over I can’t wait to suggest Enhypen’s Kcontact cover performance for the Livestream 🤣 Won’t spoil for now but it’s exciting!!

Fmzzz

PD should watch the enhypen's debut show: day one on mnet after the finale. then he'll see how much they have improved!

Malaki.H

Does jake look like a mix of dk and dino to anyone else🤔

?

Omg now i can’t unsee 😭

NG

😳 I do not get that at all 😅

SYNTHETIC NCTEEZ

K got first when he used the swap on Jungwon and it ended up taking Taki out. That sad moment.

ab_igor

With K, not only does he seem a lot older, but he IS a lot older than the rest of the I-Landers. He's 97 line turning 24 this year (international age)! So honestly what you said about him makes a lot of sense.

Christian Oettl

^This. So much "dead" time, easily skippable parts. Even the TXT and BTS parts were really strange and yeah, when you thought the Produce series took their time, I-Land was really bad with those announcements. Besides all that, I can't be the only one who saw the show and has to laugh every time PD starts to question who is in Enhypen and who isn't. This is gonna lead to quite some Enhypen videos afterwards I reckon.

aicrylic (aimee)

I really love that you ended up really liking K throughout i-land. Some people did not view him favorably after the leaders incident and the disagreement with Ni-ki. Personally, K and Sunghoon were my top 2 picks in the whole show. But I also felt he developed and matured as a trainee within the show and I was beginning to think that the image the other trainees had and what possibly would become enhypen's image (not that we really knew anything, I was just speculating) would not suit him. Plus the fact that he's quite a bit older than the other trainees. For the Chamber 5 performance, would it be possible that the judges' opinions of the performance were quite different because they are watching it live with no cuts, no camera work, they would see things from performers like Jake who maybe had moments when the cameras weren't showing them? Rewatching this now, I feel like the cuts that he got did not do him justice, same with Sunghoon, and thats probably why the judges viewed them favorably while I was unsure about their execution of the song/theme. As for next episode, we're in for a doozy. I watched the show live as I was going to work and it was... So. Long. and honestly exhausting to watch as it kept being dragged on. I get that it was live, but oof, it was bad.

Anonymous

For heeseung, I feel like his smiling seemed forced. It didn't look like he was actually happy or conveying the right emotions for this performance. Idk the meaning of the song or how it comes off if you can understand the lyrics but everyone else was giving me a similar vibe except for heeseung, so he stood out in a not good way, particularly being in the center. While the others may have had some of that awkwardness it looked like they were giving a fun performance.

Desirée

i feel so satisfied i am not the only one who thought chamber 5 was soooooo much like txt. it really sounds like something they would do, i even captured them in specific parts of the song

Emily L.

Omg yes I agree! Also I have that cover performance plus their fan meeting cover performances on a drive bc I recorded them! Definitely ready to link in a bg reaction livestream, so I hope they'll be able to react to them 🤩

Emily L.

Ahh I'm replying before I can watch PD's reaction but same! My friends and I (the ones who also know TXT's music) agreed that Chamber 5 reminded us of them. Other than just the vibe of the song, the way the lyrics have a deeper meaning than what you'd expect for the song's bright melody (e.g. TXT's Crown and Blue Hour) are a good comparison. Oh and in my personal opinion, Heeseung's timbre reminds me of Yeonjun and Taehyun here

Diana

Honestly though, speaking about the haircuts. I like Jake's just fine xD Maybe it's because they are all babies to me (except K obviously, since we are the same age) so them looking like babies is fine. I think Chamber 5 is easily one of my favorite songs from the show. Nothing beats Into the I-Land, but it comes pretty close. So excited for the final episode! I double checked and it's 2hrs 49min long, mainly because the final member announcement is loooong and dragged out, and of course full of tension, at least for those who don't know. I watched already knowing Enhypen, but not their global vote rankings, so I only felt a fraction of that tension. I felt the episode itself, and the performance bits of the broadcast, were pretty good. The rest felt a bit too dragged out.

Emily L.

Pausing video to comment on Jake's hair: I agree, Jake's pt. 1 hair was better though pt. 2 hair was fine sometimes, especially when it'd get properly styled for performances. I did appreciate the brown color on him. Also considering he was 17 (international age) when I-LAND took place, I think the age thing isn't too far off for his image here

Emily L.

Wow we're really coming down to the wire here, this has really been an enjoyable journey getting to rewatch I-LAND for my 4th time with you! Any chance at the start of your ep 12 reaction you'll give us your final lineup or try to guess the rankings? Lemme tell you I did that and technically only got 2 right with the rest being slightly or several places off. I even took panic voting into account, but I was still surprised? I hope you can be comfortable when you react to it, I remember waking up early to watch it live at 6 am but was still very pumped and excited! Honestly, yes the pauses for tension during the lineup announcement felt long but imo they were not as bad as Produce season 1 and 2 (just bc those were the ones I watched live) heck I even went to compare and I-LAND was a bit better with them. Oh quick question! Would you be willing to rewatch the Given-Taken mv after finishing I-LAND since now you would be able to recognize all the members and comment on how they've changed from I-LAND to their debut? If not the mv, since I know you don't really like the whole horror thing, maybe a performance of the song? Now onto something I wanted to comment on in this episode that actually can apply to all the episodes (except for the finale) was what we see during the broadcasted performances vs. what the producers see are definitely different. The producers get to watch the performance unfold before them in one take and judge based only on that. We get a mix of that performance that's being judged by the producers, portions from when they have to film for the eye contact cams, or other additional shots. Biggest indicator for me hilariously enough was their hair inconsistency during the broadcasted performance. I mean it when in one frame it looks a certain way and then in the next shot it's different. The most obvious example I like to use for this is Fake Love Heeseung, which is a performance I like to watch frequently plus his individual cam. If you go back and watch Fake Love (pls reference the clip of the broadcast on yt), look at Heeseung's hair at 0:47 and watch it change into it's styled look from the performance for the producers with the closer shot. Keep in mind whenever we see Heeseung with styled hair, it means that it's the performance happening for the judging portion. But if you see it more straightened out/flatter, it means that it's the portion from the later take they filmed AFTER the main performance. Btw it's bc Heeseung basically sweated out his styled hair. An example I can give here from PD's reaction to the Chamber 5 performance is Jungwon. Pause at 59:58 and look at Jungwon's hair. In the next shot/second, it is DIFFERENT and no it's not bc he moved enough for it to suddenly change like that. It's bc this closer shot is from when the Chamber 5 unit performed to be judged by the producers. You can tell bc it matches his hair from the interviewing part right before their main performance. Honestly, things can change between these performances! So from what I saw, I agree with you PD that Heeseung did better than what I thought the producers were saying. However since what we saw wasn't exactly the same as what the producers watched, I can't say it for certain. Small spoiler about Chamber 5, Enhypen performs it too! You can definitely see an improvement bc of several reasons. It's probably a lot easier to perform when you're given more than 11 days to get used to a concept you've never done before, and they don't have the same pressure of getting eliminated. If you've read all of that, I'd like to thank you and say sorry bc wow I've always wanted to mention the hair thing and I basically went on a hair rant... Also Jungwon was adorable in his fancam for Chamber 5, I guess he was different in the actual thing? But yeah see you in the future once you get to ep 12~

Anonymous

I was pretty shocked with how low jungwon got this round but I also wasn’t surprised given how many spots are left and were down to the majority of them being super talented and just excellent overall in everything Just like heeseung being the ace and one that everyone says was going to debut no matter what, I felt that way with jungwon when I saw him perform Into the I-land, I also felt that with Sunghoon, in my head there was no way these 3 weren’t going to debut. Jake was one I had mixed feelings with, I supported him as a fellow Aussie but also could see that he was surviving through the competition abit like seon when the director mentioned he was hiding a lot but I could also see his growth, he seems to just switch on when it’s time to perform so maybe that’s his saving grace. I agree with k not being the right image for the debut group, as much as I didn’t favour him, I can’t not ignore his talents, skill and the fact that he was willing to reflect and learn to be a better person and you could see that, I definitely picture him to be in a much more mature group similar to let’s say like got7, tvxq, Bts or infinite, more mature and not a boy boy group that fit more for teenagers. I know it’ll be a long finale episode but I hope you add a little bit where you find out about what the plans are for the eliminated trainees are, there’s been a fair few announcements/confirmations since and especially speculations since Hanbins solo stage for the New Years concert. Also quick comment on the hair, part one hair was definitely better and I honestly thought they butchered Nikis hair, I think his hair is too thin to go the route they were trying to take and it just looked like he constantly had a shave rash on the back of his head, he does have acne so it could’ve been that as well, I see him fitting longer styles or styles like jakes part 1 hair, I just don’t think he has the volume to have the typical boy group bowl cut unless it was done like his part one haircut, that looked the closest to a normal bowl cut and didn’t seem so thin like it is now

Dia

I think Hanbin has what it takes to be an idol and with more training, he would make an excellent soloist. Some people thrive better in groups, some are better solo and some can do both, but I think Hanbin's voice is very unique and he could do well on his own. But he wasn't ready to debut at this point and wasn't the right fit for Enhypen. I'll be very honest with my thoughts here. At this point in the competition, I really didn't see what the producers saw in Jake. I don't think the show did enough to showcase his potential up to this point, not to me anyway. And this is no hate or even critique towards Jake, I just think the show gave others more favourble and convincing screentime. I'm sure in person and without edits, he was great, I just wished that had translated on screen. Regardless, I think the final lineup makes sense overall. The next episode is a long one so strap in!

Kpop_Platypus

PD, rethinking their whole life as the lower ranks were announced: 😶😟🤔 Me, knowing exactly what happens: 🙊😋🤭

NG

The editing choices for Jake were so unconvincing, which is a real shame. I remember getting a better feel of his personality (which was sweet and playful) from silent weekly I-Land cam footage and YouTube behind the scenes videos compared to the actual episodes of I-Land. Other contestants whose personalities weren’t shown much were Jungwon and Sunghoon, but they were consistent top performers so having little screen time didn’t hurt them as much as Jake.

I'm impatiently waiting for you to end i-land cause i want to see your reaction to enhypen's "very good" dance practice 👊😔💖

Don't call me.

I&credible supremecy for me at least. I also preferred dive into you to flicker but yeah. Chamber 5 really is a catchy song tho

Don't call me.

Like in americas next top model lol. I liked jakes hair but poor taki really suffered with that one. His hair was so beautiful before TT

JustCakie

FOR REAL I really hope PD reacts to it it’s incredible

Kpop_Platypus

This is totally random but: YOOOOO!!!!! I just realized that Sunwoo reminds me of Im Siwan (ZE:A & actor). 😮 Sunwoo's eyes are more cat-like, but the rest of their faces are pretty similar, at least to me.

LoLo

I've watched this show before but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't crying hard rn. I miss Hanbin so much T.T

Meri

I loved this comment so much! I never even noticed the whole hair thing, so some of the PD comments make a lot more sense to me now that i can take that into consideration~~~

catanda

im re watching the show for the first time along with PD and i'm cracking up at the ongoing beef PD has with the MC(presenter??)'s outfits for the vcr stuff , he do be having villain vibes ngl

Dharling

It's funny because I wasn't to fond of Heeseung in the chamber 5 performance, because I felt like he was pretty much always smiling except for one moment, in which he suddenly looked extremely sad giving me whiplash and his smile felt to forced....

Alanna M

Agreed, the original hair in part 1 looked the best - both the cut AND the colour. Wow you're so good with your predictions throughout the show and also in this ep about K.. impressive. Until you forgot your prediction at the end lmao

TP_306

Even though I know that Hanbin will be eliminated in this episode, he still smiled all the time and for the other members’ elimination, he cried for them. This is so painful and my heart hurt a lot. It wouldn’t be that painful if he had cried for himself. I mean, not mentioning about his talent, his personality is so precious. His energy and positive vibe literally makes my day. Hope that he will gain such success in the future.
