I'm not from thailand or east asia but in latinamerica it would also be consider innapropiate to suddenly touch someone like that. In latin cultures there's a lot of closeness when it comes to approaching someone (we used to kiss on the cheek as hello but obviously things are changing because of covid) but still its invasive to do what the girl did. However because im not from thailand i'm in no position to say if it is acceptable or not to do that. Amazing video as always PD!

wow I’ve never see that kind of analogy about pets and what animals classify as a pet before. I agree with that but I know owners can still form some sort of attachment towards animals they can’t really touch because they take care of them every day. surprisingly enough though, you can actually pet and coddle fish which is very funny to me.

also as a southeast asian whose country is sandwich between thailand and vietnam, what the fan did is very much inappropriate. in my experience and from what I’ve seen in our culture, southeast asians do not like public displays of affection. we aren’t really affectionate people, and we aren’t the type to be physical close with people (much less strangers) like what the fan did. we mostly reserve that physical closeness with close friends, significant others or family. and even then, those kinds of affection are done in private and not in public. my mom told me that the most you will see of pda in thailand (when my mom visited) are teenagers cuddling up on a bus. all in all, yes, what the fan did is inappropriate in a cultural stance.

ep 4 and 5 have some of my favorite scenes. Looking forward to them! As for the fan hug: Yeah, it seemed totally inappropriate to me, but like most here, I can't judge the cultural context. I'm also hesitant to "condemn" the behavior. Blackpink House (like most reality tv shows) is to a certain degree scripted and "fake". We only see what they wants us to show and only in the way they present it (for example out of order or with missing previous events). Maybe the fan politely asked and the "surprise hug" is staged to heighten the "drama" in the show. In that case it would be a dumb decision from the director or editor and less of an inappropriate behavior from a fan. We've not seen the "whole story".
