Let’s gooo!!! Hope you have a great day PD!!

Wiktor

I'll be honest. This debut, Song and concept just were not my cup of tea. Feel like they have this unique concept, but are playing it a bit too safe with the MV, from a personal stand-point, they could've invested more into a story driven MV or at least made it more obvious. Also... did certain parts of the song and MV just not match up/suit well? I have this problem sometimes with music videos, where I can't listen to a song due to the MV confusing me.

WiseSmellyLegs

Here we go!! Not only I was curious about your reaction, but I had been dreaming about this concept for a Kpop group since, I guess, 2014... Because back at that time I was new into Kpop and I discovered so many concepts and styles of this diverse genre, so I was thinking: "Which concept has not been used yet?" and then I thought: "Yeah! Knights of the Round Table!! If I ever had chance to choose a concept for a group it would be this one!"

Moonown

Kingdom!!

Izak

my fav song from their album is picasso

Malaki.H

Ok I like the concept, there is a great idea there but the song just didn't vibe with it. I just feel like it doesn't flow smoothly and as @Wiktor said, at some points the song and mv scenes don't really match and I just don't know from the concept I had such high expectations, and also I'm not saying its bad or anything and everyone else who liked it ok that's good, but its not for me ig!! I'll look forward to their comeback though and see if it ends up to my taste!!

Malaki.H

Ig I was expecting to be blown away but it didn't wow me or hit me that hard

Wiktor

I felt the exact same why. kinda was left disappointed? wanting more? Like the recent debuts Kingdom, Tri.be and Pixy where UNIQUE debuts.. but they all just felt off and didnt satisfy. however much I love when groups do something new... it only works when they GO FOR IT.. however all the recent debuts... played it too safe and fell flat.

Tesa

i agree. the song was kind of.. messy? it was sadly disappointing

Marcia

I was kinda disappointed at first, but after watching a live stage it grew on me. This concept has a lot of potential so I'm exited for their comeback :) Update: I bought the album lol

Apparently they plan to have 32 albums spanning 12 years and each comeback will be focused around a different member. I agree with you on the whole "kingdom" theme, I really like how they are clear to their concept, including every member is named after a famous or historical king.

Izak

just to add the part where he climbs up and there are swords, he's actually doing that, it's part of the choreography , he's walking on the back up dancers, edit: you probably already knew that idk what i'm saying tbh

Kpop_Platypus

I thought they tried a little too hard with the song - there's just a bit too much going on - but the MV is pretty epic & the concept is generally up my alley. Side note: I clicked on the first teaser because I thought it was for the Mnet show & was, naturally, very confused about why I didn't recognize anyone. 😅😅

I have the same thought with everyone? I actually expected something more grand. More fantasy-ish (?) something that actually could make you imagine about a fantasyland? But their song is disappointingly a very normal song

WiseSmellyLegs

What an interesting thought about their name. I mean the fact they are called Kingdom and they can focus on different kingdoms all around the world! And actually now it makes perfect sense, why not all of them have stage name as some former English king... They have names based on many other nation’s kings: https://xzaviorrain17.medium.com/kingdoms-concept-who-are-they-based-on-495f00d98b9

Doyoungismyult

I thought everything about this debut was amazing. I even love the live stages

Wolfovan

Song made me feel like I was gearing up in the barracks waiting to run into the battlefield. Seeing a lot of mixed opinions everywhere but personally loved it from the get go

Doyoungismyult

It says in the beginning of the video what company they are with lol

Not even watched PD's reaction yet but I was so disappointed with this song and MV. The concept is epic, I mean imagine every cb being based on a different kingdom and the use they could make of the history and legends for their storylines, photos and MVs but they didn't do that at all in this. I feel like they put so much attention into the costume design, they lost all idea of the concept. There's no link to Arthur apart from the brief moment he pulls out Excalibur from the stone and the multitude of swords they use throughout the MV. I've not heard of the next king they showed a preview of (but I will research coz why not) so I hope I get to learn his story through their MV when they do come back and there's an actual storyline to be followed

BaoziBang

I really liked this Song and MV (though the mixing is REALLY of! The Live Stages sound so much better!) https://youtu.be/KWpR2xACdbE

Tyisha

When I watched this, all I could think was this was so corny. It was a nice song for a debut though. For me, I think they used Kingdom because of MNET’s show Kingdom to get more people to pay attention to them.

Wolfovan

They have had the name Kingdom for a long time so that's just simply wrong

Pecinta Geprak Dakgalbi

So.... have you watch the reaction? PD has explained things that they good at, things that they lacked of, and things that affect the quality of this debut MV and song

Emily

I found this comment on Youtube: Each member is a king of their one kingdom Kingdom of Rain: Arthur Kingdom of Clouds Kingdom of Snow Kingdom of Change Kingdom of Beauty Kingdom of Cherry Blossoms Kingdom of the Sun And the kingdom of the rain is inspired by the legend of the king Arthur they've planned 32 albums for 12 years to finish all the stories even planning for a webtoon and a game THEORIES Dann: There was a King Dan of Denmark, he was one of the most legendary and earliest kings of that country. There is nothing explicit in his solo scenes that points to this it is more speculation from him being one of the most famous king Dans’. Arthur: This is obvious, King Arthur, the King of England. The whole mv is centred around him, it is called excalibur which was the name of King Arthur’s sword. He pulled this sword from a rock that only the true King could, Arthur is shown doing this in the mv. Mujin: Mujin portrays Emperor Jimmu, the first emperor of Japan. You can see in some of his solo scenes him holding a katana, the sword of a great samurai warrior. Louis: King Louis was one of the longest reigning monarchs of over 72 years. Similarly to Dann’s, I can’t find anything that explicitly links his solo scenes to this theory, King Louis of France is just the most well know King Louis. Ivan: There has been many King Ivan’s of Russia. This seems to be the most common link to kings of his name, but also in his solo scenes Ivan is seen with a sceptre, a sceptre was what King Ivan the Terrible used to kill his eldest son when he struck him with it. You can see Ivan holding a sceptre and in his scenes it is snowy, a thing Russia is often known to the rest of the world for, being cold and snowy. Jahan: Jahan is the name of an Emperor of the Mughal Empire. I am not exactly sure what type of headdress/head jewellery Jahan is wearing in his solo scenes, I have tried to research it but can’t find anything exact on what it is.Therefore I couldn’t comment on if that links to this Emperor or his country. Chiwoo: I’ve been excited to get to Chiwoo as i feel he will link to the story of their next comeback heavily. Chiwoo (more accurately Chiyou) was a tribal leader, also called a mythical king by some, who fought against the emperor of China of the time. In their battle, to escape Chiyou breathed a thick fog and obscured the sunlight, when the Emperor finally escaped that after days, Chiyou conjured storm clouds. At the end of the mv we see some chinese writing.Using google translate this seems to roughly translate to ‘cloud supporter’. As the scene continues we see fog, and as it clears we see a person, (linking to where Chiyou blew the fog). As this debut had Arthur as quite a central focus,I think that their first comeback will be focused around the storyline of Chiwoo. Also, their group name is Kingdom, it would make sense for them to link their comebacks and members to kings like this. each member represents a day of the week : Louis : Monday Arthur : Tuesday Mujin : Wednesday Dann : Thursday Chiwoo : Friday Jahan : Saturday Ivan : Sunday

Stefan

I actually wish they had more expensive swords, they wobble quite a bit in some scenes, and I'm still hoping for a full-armour performance at some point. 😅 Though I imagine a concept like this really does suck a budget dry considering the costuming and props they need to properly pull this off.
