hi! it's says that the video does not exist...

Eraelias

its a shame that the i-land series seems to have been missed when fixing old videos from the Vimeo thing, i hope that gets fixed some day!

Ruth

Lol the scale shows the amount of money BigHit and Mnet threw at this show. It just gets better over the next couple of episodes

Harley

Yay! This was the first survival show I watched weekly so I’m curious what you think of it! Also you’ll be pleasantly surprised when some special people make appearances!

serenity

AAAAAAAAAAA IM SO EXCITED TO SEE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE SHOW!!!~!!!!

Katerina

OHH, I’ve been waiting for your reaction and opinions, PD. Can’t wait to see it now! Thank youuu!

fruityfairytale

I'm so excited! This is probably one of my favorite survival shows and I love listening to discussions because this show is all about growth. Also, what is the schedule for this show?

Wiktor

This gives me 3% type of vibes 😂 if anyone has seen that dystopian Tv Show

Ash

im so excited to see your reactions to the episodes! will they come out weekly on fridays or randomly?^^

Jupiter

Sunoo reminds me of Jungwoo & Taemin

?

I can see Eunha on Jungwon’s face

Nova Amore

Yay! I can't wait to watch your reactions to specific parts that I found funny, annoying, weird, and cool!! Here's to hoping that we can agree on a lot of things! (hopefully...)

Ceyda Nur

The editing gets better after this episode

Anonymous

Ahh yay I’m so excited! It’ll be interesting to see if you ever narrow down the actual Enhypen members haha. I-Land is a lot, and I honestly think the whole theme really messed with the contestants as well they all had a rough time. It’s a good show though with good performances! I definitely recommend ENHYPEN&HI when you finish, it’s on Viki too, only 4 eps and it’s very cute and fun.

Nova Amore

Also, the very first person is Nam Goong Min (I hope I spelled his name right). I think he's a famous actor in Korea. I've always loved his dramas! Maybe you've watched some of them, but I don't know...

Réka O.

I'm so happy you're finally watching this show! I can't wait to see your reactions to the trainees' personalities and growth in the later episodes :)

Sunoo, Youngbin, and Jake performing Crown was definitely my favorite. The part where Geonu raised his hand for Jaeho was very touching too, he became one of my picks for the first episode because of it. I remember watching it for the first time and getting annoyed at all the cutting away from the actual performances. It would have been nice to see the whole thing, but I guess it was about the participants voting. They do a better job in the following episodes though. I have a love hate relationship with this show. I tht it introduces some interesting things but doesn't commit to some of them enough and some parts it stressed me out. I like the concept of Ground versus Iland, but it does feel very distopian. Rewatching the intro felt like watching some weird nature documentary. Thanks for the reaction!

mssmercedes

The editing of the performances is one of the universal gripes that people have watching this show I think the biggest sentiment coming out of episode 1 when it aired was "how the heck are we supposed to know who was good and who wasn't" as the show goes on it gets better but was still a weak point for this show imo. That being said it's still an awesome ride and you'll get to see who is strong at what as you keep watching. This will be my third time watching and I'm still really excited!

Aurayaya

Jungwon's face reminds me 100% of Kang Mina. No doubt

Coco Liu

I wanted to quickly make a headsup that their is "evil editing" in the show and much more drama than yg treasure box. Just a heads up!

mssmercedes

I also wanted to say I've always thought that this show was a mixture of survival and psychological experiment. Like if you put a idol competition together with big brother and the real world or something so when they do these things like force them to vote in front of each other or make decisions that usually would be made by a panel of experts I think they're very aware of the downfalls of that (groupthink/peer pressure/people feeling betrayed etc.) but they are putting the contestants through it on purpose as part of their "system" for good or for ill.

As a competitive figure skater myself, I wanted to give some context behind Sunghoon that someone might find interesting: I haven't finished this show but Sunghoon has been my pick from Day 1 (I'm biased I know lol). The jump shown in Sunghoon's intro clip was a triple axel- VERY difficult to land and his was perfectly clean. I've been skating for about the same amount of time as him (10 years) and I am NOWHERE near his level. However, I do think that he wouldn't be very competitive at a senior/Olympic level, since nowadays all the top placing men in the world have 2-6 different quad jumps under their belt (whereas he only has all his triples). Don’t get me wrong- he's accomplished more in his skating career than I could ever dream of- but I can see part of why he decided to retire. However, even if he wanted to quit himself, it's huge to decide to just stop skating. For me, I trained 6 days a week, before school and then again after school ended. Looking at Sunghoon's level, I’m assuming he spent WAY more than me. Skating is literally engrained in our blood- our feet grow ugly bumps from skates and we constantly have bruises from falling. I can’t stress how much I respect and admire him for having the courage to give up that whole part of his life for his dream of becoming an idol. That being said, his skating background could help him in that: he’s definitely used to the pressure of performing (you pointed out how poised he was when he entered). Skaters are agile and have incredible balance (as you could see from his 7th Sense stage), and spinning comes naturally to us. However since we are used to graceful movements, it’s typically difficult to transition to hip-hop style dancing (but Sunghoon does it seamlessly from what I’ve seen so far). Anyways that was long but I’m just putting it out there for anyone who’s interested in reading! I was so excited to see a figure skater on the show and I hope someone can appreciate his determination to become an idol a little more :) Sunghoon fighting (and everyone else too)!

whoooaaaaaaa. it's crazy how i watched i-land as it was airing and yet i never even noticed this dystopian sci-fi hunger games-esque concept the show has going. totally excited to rewatch now with your commentary!

JustCakie

Fun fact, although Taki looks very young (he is 14 international age here) he is not the youngest (Daniel is) and he is actually older than Ni-ki despite Ni-ki having somewhat of a mentor role for him

Oakley Chen

Is this show inspired by the maze runner?

Nova Amore

Also, one thing that I forgot to say is that the editing does get better (I personally think) The editing is obviously Mnet's fault though.

Nova Amore

Actually, here's something that could be interesting for you to watch maybe by yourself [wouldn't mind it if you reacted to it, but yeah], the Korean YouTubers, DKDKTV, did an analysis for each episode of I-Land right with it dropped (except for maybe 3 eps, they didn't post the video, but they still watched it) and for each episode, the critiques that they gave seemed to be getting fixed as I-Land went on. It's really interesting, and I think you might enjoy it....??

Emi R.

I’ve watched SO MANY survival shows over the past decade and this concept was so interesting to me too! The set up and how the rounds would progress kept me invested in watching each week just as much as the contestants did. There was so much mystery while this was airing it was crazy. We had no idea if or when eliminations would happen or how many members would make the final group. Stan Twitter was full of conspiracy theory level mayhem 😂

Mellie Martinez

I agree with a lot of things people have said above me lol It’s my second time watching it and it’s interesting to see all the contestants perform. Some are better than I remember them to be. For me Sunoo reminds me of New (Chanhee) from The Boyz. Not just in looks but in their personality a bit

Nova Amore

Also pt 2, I think all trainees got a chance to do a 2nd performance, the editors just didn;t include them.

Ena

I remember seeing knetz make fun of the show because it was considered a massive flop in korea and they spent so much money in production. Enhypen seems to have waaaay more international fans since we all watched it online.

Christian Oettl

The editing for the evaluations are IMO the worst. As there are less performances than other survival shows those get better and it's a better opportunity to see the skills of the participants. I'm 100% sure PD will really ike Jay throughout the show. Also they already announced that they will re-use the building in the future.

Eme123!

I really liked I-Land, I know the editing sometimes is kind of disappointed but it's Mnet's fault hahaha... But I really enjoyed the show and it was a rollercoaster experience.

everett

so excited to be rewatching this with you!!! the editing def gets better but mnet has a history of horribly editing these survival shows/the performances 😭 but as there gets to be less and less performances the editing does get better!! also for sunoo he absolutely reminds me of a mini seungwoo from victon and is half the reason he was my one pick from the beginning lol (before i saw his performance anyway)

Anonymous

ngl the dystopian theme of this show and how it’s set up kinda puts me off because i feel like I’m watching some social experiment or government project LOL but im excited to watch and see how these guys will grow as idols

PB

omg your commentary is so good! im laughing.

Kpop_Platypus

I've never rewatched a competition show (that creates a group) before. It's fun to hear another perspective & notice things I didn't catch the first time, knowing how it all turns out. See you for ep 2!

Anonymous

Yay omg! I've been waiting for you to react to this show lets goooooo!

Kiki

I know they invested so much into it but I also wanted to see their skills and they would keep focusing more on the spectacle of the building.

crash9100

In my opinion, I-LAND's performance in Korea got screwed over by the Produce 101 issue. I-LAND performed great internationally, ENHYPEN's debut album hit 400k copies and is the best selling fourth gen album in Japan (including other groups Japanese releases which is-wow). But I-LAND was in Produce 101's exact time slot, pretty much designed to be another Produce spin off by MNET, and released when everyone was still steaming mad about Produce 101. Of course people in Korea didn't tune in, I wouldn't either. It's not like they could cancel the show after the Produce thing happened either, because they'd clearly already spent years and millions producing I-LAND.

Izak

yeah this is why i didn't watch it at first, it was cool in theory but with the way they edited the performances i thought, "are they going to do this the whole show and just focus on the story line and building ? " and i just then couldn't be bothered to tune in for the second episode

eryn

Sunoo's face kind of reminds me of Guanlin

Anonymous

ILAND is a good concept. I was also excited too at the beginning. The show was so promising at the start. I don't like how they didn't show the complete performances. If it's time constraint of the show, they could still upload it as a bonus content on their YouTube channel, but MNET didn't do that at all. Trainees didn't have equal opportunities to showcase their talents, which is totally a shame. Anyway, thank you for reviewing this, PD. I agree with you, on episode 1 the Crown team (Sunoo, Jake, Youngbin) was the best out of all. I am interested in what you think about the show and the trainees later on as the show progressed. I have a love and hate relationship with this show.

PiscesGroove

Sunoo kinda reminds me of Seung-woo from Viction or Cha Eunwoo from Astro

PureENT TM

I think they let the kid who did the locking do an extra performance because there was only one spot left, maybe.

Anonymous

i am like months late to this but cant wait to finally binge watch your reactions, this would be like the 8th time I've rewatched i-land

Ald Sury

Excume me, I cant watch any video in 'vimeo' what should I do?

Josie Camacho

Rewatching I-Land but with your reaction PD💖 Really glad I joined 😃

Di

I'm watching this quite late, but Sunoo really reminds me of Seungwoo from Victon in terms of looks.

Lisa H

im only 35 minutes in but god was this show a social experiment or something?? this concept so far seems so intense.

Lisa H

jesus, the clip of the disqualified trainees going to 'the ground' was depressing. did not feel good at all. and I'm grown lol, so i cant imagine how the kids felt. the long dark hall felt weirdly dark sided.
