This video has been hella delayed because SM has been blocking it on YouTube. I've filed an appeal but they rejected it so unfortunately this video will have to exist here on Patreon. To make it fair, I've made this post public and available for everyone! Good reaction. Also really like this song too. I'm surprised it was so controversial I'm not into NCT in general and NCT 127 are the only ones that usually catch my eye with a song here and there. This one happened to be one of them. IT JUST GOT STUCK IN NY HEAD. Also really liked the video. Gave me some Kill Bill vibes.

it would make zero sense for you not to discuss the music. you have very great critiques about music besides your film production critiques. thank you. i was wondering if it would've made more sense for SM to give this song to WayV instead given that it besides borrowing elements of Kill Bill and whatnot, since they are the Chinese subunit and Kick It is heavily influenced by Chinese mixed martial arts and Bruce Lee. Just a thought. 127 did kill it though and I'm glad you're getting into them more.

I am a big fan of whole NCT since the true beginning after the SM keynote in 2016. And lately I've been having a feeling like NCT 127 music has to be always too different and too unusual that it is not original and unique anymore but more like forcing the thing to be different on purpose. Speaking of the video production quality, that is for sure 10/10, without any doubt. But as you said with k-pop in general. If every single one is too good and always awesome there is nothing new and interesting. So basically Kick It is exactly this thing I wrote. Video left me speechless, but the song itself is kind of the same thing forced to be made in this way again...

It's so strange to me to hear that a lot of people you heard from disliked this cb, when the majority loved it. Its very 127, of all the years I've been with them this is very nct just with a polished vision and a clear identity. These aren't rookies anymore, they are now going into their 4rth year and I couldn't be more proud. I feel like people have a squed vision with 127, somehow expecting them to reinvent the wheel with each comeback, always being dissapointed till a year later writing threads on how that specific cb was so great. I always see this happen and it's quite tiring, but to each their own I guess. It's impossible to expect the same fans to stay especially for those who have been since the early days, sound evolves, tastes change. No good in only ever reminiscing on the old days imo.

Personally I didn't like Kick It to much, it just isn't the type of music I seem to like. Yet I can't stop listening to all the other songs on that album. The whole album is a precious treasure with both beatiful melodies, a lot of (nct-typical) deep bass lines or just absolutely crazy beats where you can't even be sure if this still counts as a melody. So I don't know if I just like it because it is exactly what I love about kpop, (being creative while experimenting with new sounds and beats to compose songs that sound absolutely unique), or if their new album is just f*cking awesome. Anyway, please do a listening party, I would love to hear what you think about it!

I love this concept so much! An Eastern martial art concept but from a more western perspective. It's definitely not entirely eastern, more like a 'cultural appropriation' of a cultural appropriation. I'm getting kill bill vibe from it. I think that's also why Johnny stood out so much this time. He looks exactly like an Eastern protagonist in a Western anime.

Taeil is my ult and I'm tired of getting excited for each comeback only to barely even glimpse him in the music video... his high note turned into a dance break with the focus squarely on Taeyong... It especially sucks because Taeil is particularly devastating as a blonde, and everyone should get to see that :| still loved the comeback though!

I think the negative comments you had read may not have been comments from fans, or casual listeners not liking the song or the comeback. There were a lot of fan wars during this comeback because NCT was doing so well which resulted in fans of other artists trashing on them. You know how toxic Kpop is, right? So those critiques may not have been valid. They would be leaving negative comments no matter what they heard and saw. I think for the most part fans and just random people who check out this video do actually like it. I mean, this song charted higher and for longer than any NCT song, so it definitely means that more people are enjoying it.
