I still think Miyeon is a more powerful vocalist than Minnie, you can see that in a lot of their covers and B-sides rather than title tracks. Minnie has more range tho

what do you mean you know they will go for a big american push? Do you have any insider information or it just about the articles that are around? Im honestly a bit worried, I just want them to continue being the idle i know, dont want any weird shenanigans to try appeal to the american market. Tho those might be useless worries.

I honestly think Idle has a big following internationally, especially with their 2 collabs (well, Soyeon and Miyeon at least) with Riot and League of Legends. But then again, most of their antis are also people from outside Korea, those affected by the "ethnic hip" thingy and the cultural appropriation stuff as well. As a stan of Idle, I'm both excited and scared as to how they will appeal to the American market if they do pull through with it.

Thats the thing, they are doing perfectly fine now, they dont need to change anything to appeal to the american market. They did a song camp a couple months ago and a few people there left me scared, ofc song camps may not mean anything...

I hope you are right, but them being in a studio with 2 producers that make whatever type of sound that is trending at the time and a youtube twerker really rubs me the wrong way.

(G)I-dle does what they want. That should be clear already. Soyeon does so much of the work on the music side but what she doesnt directly do is market. Cube does that for them excelently which is why soyeon has gotten two oppurtunities to work on song that would be shown to a very large audience through Riot Games and League of Legends. (G)I-dle has already entered the american market through that and they made an american 90's hip hop inspired song. All they did was hire a seperate company to help market them in america better since that isn't cube's forte. Soyeon already has a love for american culture and music, most of the girls do actually; if anything, this is just more support for what Soyeon already does best which is take from other cultures to make something unique. This might mean american concert performances even. I dont see how everyone is not just excited about this! As if Soyeon would lose her way and make a bad song.

i mean thats already known. Miyeon is the "Power Vocal." Thats how she used to introduce herself. They are both main vocalist though, just depends in the song for which one is best. MIyeon can belt, everyone thats listened to MAZE knows that. Her voice is clear and strong. Where as Minnie, as pd said, has a little bit of a lisp and it makes her voice unique and adds in a lot of color. It sounds more like a roar when she belts that high than if Miyeon did it, because roars are not clear. Minnie was better for that part, Miyeon got the first part of the chorus everytime though because that part needs to be truly powerful and she killed it.

This is not about good or bad songs. I trust Soyeon fully on that part. I dont trust cube more specifically their management. They domestic and chinese fanbases are growing, they should wait until they have an established strong fanbase, if they go too soon to america their korean/chinese fanbase growth is doomed. Like it or not who buys the most albums is their asian fanbase, they should ride this growth this year and focus on america at the end of the year/ early next year.

that being said i dont want to just comment to ask for more content- thank you for this analysis! lion has to be one of the most visually engaging mvs id seen all year just from a set design standpoint, it may not be flashy but well utilized simple sets will overwhelm high production cgi sets any day

Soyeon had a hand in the set production for this MV Soyeon just loves production and creative aspects so much... It's great to see her grow.... I loved the MV too especially the set designs of Minnie, Miyeon and Yuqi... It was incredible 💚
