This coming Friday I'll be interviewing Ashley Yoon who participated in the production of a few LOONA songs (specifically Satellite and Curiosity), Growing for Groo~ by GWSN, and a handful of others!

It's going to be a LONG in depth interview discussion and throughout the interview I'll be asking her some of YOUR questions. Unlike me, she is an ACTUAL music producer! (I'm a video producer) So if you have any questions about the music making process please leave them here!

As a perk of being our patrons, we are ONLY taking Patron submitted questions! So ask away and your question could be featured in the video!!!

my questions: what is the very first starting point in producing a song? Is it a melody/chord progression/riff that pops out of your head and you take inspiration from it and starts adding in other elements or there is a particular formula for the process?

Nia Wonka

So awesome youre doing this! My question is: How do you produce music for a group that has 12 completly unique members that all have their individual style and sub-units with completly different music styles as well. How do you come up with the signature sound that actually ties it all together?

Has this been one of your more ambitious projects? I love LOONA to my core, but that's still crazy

I have too many questions. xD How does it feel to finish a song and then hear the lyrics added for a finished product? Does a track ever have a completely different emotion for you than it does once everything is finished and the song is released? Also Favorite step in the production process? Congrats PD, this is super cool and I'm so interested to see this. I know it will be great.

What is your least recognised song or what song would you like to see gain some more popularity?

Powerhauz

Sorry just a few extra. Do you prefer working with large groups or solo artists? Which artist (group or solo) you would produce for again Which artist (group AND solo) you would like to work with in the future? Side hobbies or activities you enjoy outside the booth? Do you have a bias in Loona or GWSN? Who is your bias outside of those 2 groups?

Frank Ardolino

What's the process like to produce a song? Do the performers give you input as you make it or do you present them with a finished product and then they choose?

In LOONA's Curiosity, there were ALOT of sounds and "layering" going on in the background. During the music process, when do you feel like you need to add more sounds to a piece and how do you decide what type of sound should go to a particular part of the song? (ie adding an electric guitar here or chimes there) Also how much is too much?

Powerhauz

Ok I put in my focused questions how about some off the wall stuff. Any sports you enjoy playing or watching? What is your favorite food and/or snack? Rock, paper or scissors? Is there a song currently stuck in your head not produced by you? Do you have a favorite TV show? What is it? Heads or tails? What advice would you give to people wanting to produce music? What is one thing you would like to do in the future outside of the music industry? Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall? If you weren't producing music, what job would you have instead? What do you think about video games and do you play any? Do you have a celebrity crush? Ok I'm out of questions.

WagZak

What did you have to do differently when producing tracks for Loona than you usually do with other groups? Also if you had anything to do with Kim Lip’s pussy part of Satellite (I think we all know which part i’m referring to), I’d like to thank you on behalf of all Orbits.

angelkat

2 more, What inspired you to pursue the producing side of music? What other music producers do you admire or look up to?

Oakley Chen

PD can you please ask Ashley if she can react/review to future Loona MV releases on her channel(if she got time of cause), i think Orbits would love to see that

duckiehyunie

Sorry PD, I have a few questions: How did you get the opportunity to work with LOONA? Did you get to meet the girls? Are you planning on working with LOONA again (please do, I loved Satellite)? Were you a fan of LOONA before you worked with them? What other groups would you like to work with? Was there a specific sound you were aiming towards with either of the songs? This one kind of aligns with the previous but did you have a lot of creative freedom with the songs you created for LOONA? And OKAY, I’m done. Thank you for working with LOONA, you created my personal favorites from [XX]!

Ioana C.

Favorite plugins for sound design?

Ioana C.

What other K-Pop artist/group do you think has interesting production and why?

Daphné

How is it for an external producer to adapt to the already established sound of a group? How do they find a middle ground between what they want to do, what they bring to the table and the identity of the artist?

Oakley Chen

Most of you guys didn't even watch her reaction to Loona video, song writer send all their demos to other companies not just one company but luckily BBC was interested the 2 songs she wrote, why the 2 songs sounds so Loona because Jaden and Monotree is the main producer they done all the arrangements(instrumental and singing parts for the girls) all Ashley did was mainly the melody.
