This is a fun album!! I like that it's similar to Circle cause it makes me think he's found his identity as a soloist very well. Glad you're loving Onew so much! There are official live performances of the songs on the official onew channel that I hope you'll check out! Thank you so much for being so open and personal with us. I'm so happy for you you have found your album and it helps you in this way. For me that was Oneus A Song Written Easily. I can def relate to that feeling of how music helps us get out of our depressions or bad places. BTS saved me, ATEEZ got me actually happy again, Oneus saved me the second time, NCT Dream has been my happy place since Hot Sauce....I could go on. Onew has always been there for me. Just thank you so much for your new found appreciation for Onew and his voice. I dunno where or who I'd be with out all of them. Also I love getting solo albums, I want EVERYONE to do solos please. Like I wanna know every single member of every single group solo style. It's one thing to get to hear all their voices together, but knowing how they sing on their own just makes connecting to them so much deeper. Huge groups like nct, seventeen, the boyz have so many members, and some of them get very few lines. I want to hear ALL their voices on solo albums. I know that's not what they all want or will do, but I want it. I'd love to see listening parties for Shinee older albums like from the beginning!

first of all, before i flood this with comments, i know you're going to watch all the live performances. for focus, before watching the official one on his youtube, you HAVE to watch this fancam with a steady view of the entire stage that captures like maybe 40% of the rich rawness of his voice live (i was there, i can attest lol) https://youtu.be/0JIuG9IBqvY?si=Cf1t1ibriVSDV5cS

i think after hearing your story, you should watch jinki's ep of omniscient interfering view because you might also understand him a bit better outside of his music, especially his own healing journey. in a way, this reminds me of what jinki went through last year. you already know how he was on hiatus for most of 2023 and the first part of 2024. it was a physical problem and also a bit of mental one, as he's said in interviews. im not sure if you saw pics of him in 2023 but there was such a concern for him from fans. and the silence from SM about him, his progress, and even his future with shinee will always be a huge stain on them. when he came back all of a sudden in 2024 with griffin, it was honestly a shock. and that he came back so.......strong in every sense of the word is such a gift. watching you talk about him and how his music has honest to god helped you reminds me of his one wish: that his music will make at least one person happy. and it just feels a little different from you, someone who only mostly knows him through his music, than it does from fans who have been with him through it all. i can't help but cry, honestly.

What you said about all of them being in one group is what we, shawol, often joke about but are also proud of - all five of them are incredible. SHINee is one of the best things to happen to me and after finding them, after listening to them, both as a group and as soloists, I'm amazed at how good they are. HOW GOOD THEY ARE, goodness. And this album truly feels like honesty and freedom - like Onew finally found his wings and is now flying and blessing us all with his musicality. Thank you so much for listening to his music, for saying so many great things. I'm honestly truly so very happy that you've found him. Beat Drum did the same thing to you that Circle did for me, and I will forever be glad you've decided to check Circle album back when I wrote that long message to you, and now you found Flow - you own comfort album and inspiration. I also hope you'll check out Minho's studio album. While I like his title track, it's the album that really shows his voice and his style, and it's a damn good album. It does feel to me that he is still finding his footing as a soloist, and Call Back is such a great step and such a solid album, so now I have this craving - I want him to do even more, to evolve even more and to show us even more, because he has all he needs to rise further as a soloist. Once again, truly thank you, PD! You've made me very very happy by listening to Onew <3

will you do dice or voice next? voice is the traditional album that everyone expected onew to do...ballads...and they are amazing. let me tell you, and i'm sure you know, jinki doing ballads will always make you cry. he just sings with emotion. dice is the album jinki wanted to make because he wanted to show that he was not just someone you can label nearly. Onew is the genre, as the articles said. For singles, I would highly recommend Starry Night (with the 친구 lyrics recently changed to 찡구 which is his official name for fans) and the OSTs Dear My Spring and For You, the latter which was released just today.

Thank you for talking about so many profound and interesting topics. Originally,Pure,Cinematic...I also love these impressions brought by onew's songs. Before, I thought that maybe healing was a type of lyric ballad. But now I think, it's more than that:perception of these emotions, which simple happiness can also be cured.I love this feelings.

PD! thank you for reacting to the whole album. Onew will be happy to know that Beat Drum helps you. I think that's one of the reasons why he creates music or sings: to bring joy to those who listen. He also went through a lot during his hiatus, healed, and came back to make this album. That's probably why it resonated with you.

Clary

When you said Beat drum is like a musical song I just noticed it too and never tought about it but yeah, for me it feels a classical Shinee song, they’ve always had very musical like performances, expecially in concerts! They are 5 superstars, YES! When they are on a stage together it’s incredible, it doesn’t seem kpop anymore. It’s subjective but Shinee world V ruined any other concert experience for me 👀 it’s the concert that after three hours made me ask if they’re human or aliens…. Probably vampires since Taemin still looks like he is in middle school. In my opinion they have always had this star power, I blame SM for having done nothing about it for so many years, not even a proper world tour. I like many other kpop groups but I fell in love with Shinee because of their sincerity and authenticity. It feels like what they do or say it’s not “performative”like the “idol formality” behavior, it’s just them. Flow is a masterpiece, truly. One of the best album I’ve ever listened to, it’s very Onew, very himself and I love it 💎 I’m happy that you feel better and that this album helped to give you happiness. Onew himself said that with this EP he want to give people comfort, courage, and the healing that himself went through during his hiatus.

liam

plans of reacting to minho’s comeback?? it actually might be soty for me

Cam

I'm a new subscriber after I learnt about your reactions to the SHINee members and your new found love for them, thank you so much for your support to them, as a shawol it means a lot and I really connect with the journey you are having with their music and your Onew reactions became all time favorites ♡

Cam

This video made me so emotional. I see a lot of similarities between you and Jinki, and I don't say this lightly as a shawol for 14 years. Flow was entirely made by Jinki after a really hard time of his life, he was in a year long hiatus due to health issues, he also needed to take care of his mental health, just in general he was going through a lot of things and then he left SM and everything seemed to be so dark, for him and us fans, yet, since he cameback it's been one of the brightest and happiest times of my life as his fan and I can see is the same for him. He did a lot of healing during that hiatus year, he travelled and tried to find his meaning and purpose, he then made this album and I find everything that you said poetic and beautiful because Jinki would be so happy to know he helped you with his music through perhaps the same hardships he has gone through. I'm glad you found his art and connected with it, and I hope things continue to get better. Thank you for being so honest and for this raw and heartfelt reaction.

I looooove Flow so much. When Circle was released I was thinking if Onew will be able to top that. I love Circle so much because the healing and serenity I felt from it. But, Flow is something that is so genuine. The struggle of everyday life, self discovery, freedom, taking risk, gaining control, happiness etc. I think it is so relatable and more about self love. Genius. Been a shinee fan for 16 yrs, and Onew has always been my bias, it kinda hurt to see him so underrated so Im sa glad he took a break to take care of his health and came back better and happy dropping a masterpiece. I feel like Onew doesnt want to be confined in being an "idol" anymore. Without SM controlling his solo works, he will be able to explore and show more of his artistry and I cant wait to hear more of his own music.

Levi

BEST PRAISE and well deserved for Onew🤧 his first mini album ‘Voice’ made me into his fan. lots of emotional vocal moments and heart wrenching melodies. can’t wait to hear that album

Rach

Made me so emotional to hear you talk about Jonghyun's superstar-isms, and how fucking incredible it is that all the SHINee members are so thirsty and SO GOOD at their work. There's nothing like it. Maybe there are more talented kpop artists & artists around with better access to resources, but no one with as much natural talent and the gumption to take it to the next level, make their voices be heard. Onew and this album really is the best personification of that. Whew.

I discovered Onew only about three years ago. I thought I was past the point of fan-hurling like a 15 yo but, thankfully he’s taught me I’m not!! I followed him to SHINee and will never go back! Fun fact, about this album, is that he included an audience participation portion for almost every one of the songs. A fun challenge might be to try to figure out what they are and then go watch some of his festival performances. They’re darling!!

SpacedOut Vy

Wow once you said it, I can now definitely hear Jonghyun’s voice in some of these songs!! It warms my heart knowing that Onew’s songs would also suit Jonghyun. It’s like Onew’s songs are carrying a bit of Jonghyun with him. 🩷 Onew’s mastery of his voice and his unique tone really adds to the music. Like if anyone else (other than Jonghyun) were to sing these songs, it would just be a “good” song. But Onew’s voice is like another instrument that levels up any song by a hundred levels.

SpacedOut Vy

Onew and the other SHINee members have always said that they sing differently when they sing together because they’re layering their voices to create the SHINee group sound. So when they’re doing their individual albums, they get to flex their skills and explore different styles

SpacedOut Vy

Another album that I feel is authentic and original would be Taeyong’s SHALALA album

SpacedOut Vy

Thank you so much for being vulnerable and sharing your struggles! I’ve been listening to this album on repeat because it actually manages to take me out of my head and make me present in the moment and in reality

Ciri

Thank you for being so open. Your story is one I relate to very much because I was the same, back in 2017. I was at my lowest but then I accidentally found SHINee, their 321 live stage to be precise, and this had the same effect on me as beat drum had on you. I’m glad that you found a happiness within Onew’s music.

로리 Lori

Thank you so much for this lovely reaction. Maestro is a standout for me in this album. It's sounds so beautiful in my ear. Shape of my Heart, All Day, and Focus are really good too. I usually prefer melancholic music. The sadder it is, the better 😂. So, Circle album is still my favorite Album Jinki has done. Followed by the Dice album. But I love that he is exploring and looks healthy and happy.

로리 Lori

PD, do you mean Crush by Taemin?

로리 Lori

I'm glad that you found joy in Onew's music.

ONEWhoInspires

Yes definitely every si ngle song….🤩

🌷

"ola" means wave in Spanish (sounds the same just not h) so your explanation during hola! the Korean word and the kinda word game and flow it makes even more sense, like idk if he knew what "ola" means but I find it funny

Gwendolyn

I usually never leave comments on anything online but your reaction was so genuine and vulnerable that I just had to say thank you for posting this! I didn't cry when listening to the EP for the first time, but somehow teared up watching your reaction to it. I live in Asia so I've been a casual listener of kpop all my life (it's everywhere here), but I only got into SHINee this year after going to their concert on a whim and I've not stopped listening to them since. Like you said, kpop is such a big, manufactured industry, and I think the amazing thing about SHINee is that all of them seem to be intently fighting to get better. It's truly inspiring especially since it must have been so difficult to go through such a system at a young age, yet they all came out of it wanting to push their music and performance to the highest level. I think they're only going to get better now that they have more autonomy over the kinds of music they want to make. There are so many beautiful and jaw-dropping moments in this EP and it only speaks to how dedicated all five of them are as artists. Looking forward to your listening party for Call Back!!
