I honestly have to say Shinee isn't my ult group but my favorite 2nd gen group. And I love how versatile and talented the members are, like you never know what they're doing next and it's so satisfying to see they never miss. I doesn't even matter if as group or as soloists! They're all just crazy good.

this is the most underrated song ever istg, the beat is insane and onew's voice... i can't imagine anyone else singing this ngl, and to answer your question, dice does not sound like this but it has the same bright pop vibes, i love that song and that ep is reaaaallyyyy good imo, i would highly recommend it to you too! i'm so excited for some more shinee, i wish there was a show like skz code or gose that you could check to get to know the members better but unfortunately they only went to 3rd party broadcasts for variety shows through out their career, all i could offer you is some funny compilations lmao😭

Onew’s solo music evolution is actually sooo fascinating cause you can see where he is in life based on the music he puts out. In 2018 (where all the shit went down for him & shinee), he released Blue which is a DEEP but depressing ass ballad. Then we saw him get in a better place in life, we also got Dice which is a light, airy feel good song. We also got the Don’t Call Me album which for me read like the first Shinee album embracing being in a better place. Then we got Circle & the album which is super existential, telling us that life goes on whether you’re happy or not. Then now with beat drum which is supeeer fresh even for him, right after he left SM lol (also proves that SM is holding back their artists). I genuinely am happy for him because he seems very happy, especially after leaving SM. I’ve never seen him more busy with his solo stuff especially with how talented he is. He’s truly been underrated and under appreciated (even at the height of shinee’s fame) (Also PD saying that Onew is now his fave got me loool-ing cause we know Key would’ve side eyed him had he heard lol)

onew has 2 sides of him for his solo stuffs, his ballad side vs his very happy go lucky pop stuffs, so something like this is actually not new for him!! i'm glad you like it!! shinee is honestly such a perfect group with each member just oozing with talent

Wow, what an incredible surprise it is to see the reaction to Beat Drum. Your panicked excitement gave me so much joy and was exactly the same as my own reaction when I heard the song for the first time. I love Beat Drum, and I love the whole Flow album - the only thing I absolutely hate about it is how short it is. Nonetheless, it's such an amazing album. Can't wait to see your LP for Circle and for Flow. I think you'll love the EP, especially Focus - it's a jaw-dropping song. I'm really happy that you get more and more into SHINee solo stuff. Of course, there is a lot - Onew's 2018 debut album Voice and 2022 EP Dice, Key's albums that you've listened, Minho's debut Chase album, all of Jonghyun's extensive discography (which I have relistened this weekend and, let me tell you, this guy made timeless music), and Taemin's impressive ten-year-long career that has a lot of good music (One by One and Rise live in my head rent free alongside Deja Vu). They are so experienced, both as members of SHINee and as soloists, and I can't wait to see where that brings them - every time I think they have reached the peak, they go even higher and show even more. And, also, we have Minho's first studio album coming - the date hasn't been announced yet, but it will be somewhere in November/December I think. I can't wait to see what he brings to the table, and I honestly hope that he will continue the streak of incredible SHINee solo albums this year.

As someone who has been following you for a pretty long time and values your opinions, I'm so happy, seriously. SHINee are my boys. I remember back then when you checked out Good evening that you said you weren't much into them and internally I was like "i don't get it, I thought you would like them a lot" it has taken time but IT HAPPENED. PD was shawolized. 🙌

I’m pretty sure the Jonghyun thing (I loved that man, everything I say about Jungkook, Ten, Taemin, DINO nowadays—I firmly believed Jonghyun was peak the prodigy of the next greatest singer in the world) really really closed me off SHINee for a long time. Good Evening is literally one of my favorite songsss for the past few years 🥹 I dance silly to it in the car

Onew has a calm image, so people often associate upbeat songs with the other members. However, I personally believe that SHINee’s rhythmic tracks shine even more because Onew has an almost supernatural sense of timing and rhythm. Having said that, Beat Drum was still a shock to fans. I see it as an evolution. It’s the first album Onew produced himself, and he surprised everyone by rapping for the first time. Onew didn’t settle for comfort—he left SM to keep challenging himself.

onew co-wrote and co-produced flow so it's especially dear to fans, especially since he was uncredited in circle as one of its producers. keep in mind jinki left sm and went to griffin ent, which announced its creation the same time as announcing jinki as their first artist, so there were concerns about budget, resources, etc. BUT griffin has proven to be incredible and given jinki every opportunity. the mv, the album and its accoutrements, and the promotions are so high class. anyway! i hope you do a listening party for flow too because it's such a masterpiece in a different way. i have a feeling you might lose it over focus.

on jinki's solo persona: he can do it all, really. he's dabbled in so many genres that i think one article said onew is his own genre during dice era. voice was pure ballad/pop-ballad, dice is an eclectic mix of pop, r&b (on the way and love phobia), city pop (in the whale), and almost garage-like for yeowoobi. flow is another one that is varied and eclectic, and bass heavy, especially maestro and focus. ahhh focus. he performed it for the first time in his fancon last oct 5-6 (which i was lucky enough to attend) and i was literally speechless by his singing and the entire performance. okay! last comment lol regarding the last one with 2 onews meeting, he actually explained it yesterday. onew #1 in the beginning of the mv is curious by this unknown sound he's hearing (the hallway, the elevator), and he keeps looking and chasing for the source (onew #2), which he does in the end, not knowing that the sound/beat, and i guess the charm, came from himself

alsoooo jinki didnt do live shows for this album (which i wholeheartedly agree with) but he released live performance videos for beat drum, hola, maestro and all day. he also said he'll be releasing live videos of the 2 remaining songs (shape of my heart and maestro) so i hope you can check them all out too

I think I listen to Beat drum like 100 times a day, it’s insaneeeee, I can’t wait for the album reaction!! This year is really the Shinee year, three (almost four, Minho we are waiting) comebacks absolutely nailed. I don’t think there is gonna be a group like them ever again, it really blow my mind sometimes. What makes them special and followed by many, is not only their works but also their bond, it’s the softest and strongest friendship that I think it’s really rare to find not only in kpop but also in real life, it’s just delightful to watch. Also, PD!! You haven’t really watched Shinee full potential if you have never seen a Shinee World concert, live performances is what they’re known for! We're in the same boat when it comes to not fully understanding this music video, but luckily, Onew gave a bit of an explanation at yesterday's fan signing event. He explained that each person has their own unique charm, which is represented by a beat. There’s a scene where people hear sound, and the source of that vibration is actually themselves. But they are wandering around outside, searching for it, not realizing that the beat is coming from within themselves. In the end, two Onews meet, and it’s like, ‘Ah, I’ve found it. I had this unique charm inside me all along’ and come to discover themselves. Knowing this made the music video a lot clearer to me, so I wanted to share it with you!
