i think not releasing a whole album with ggum might be due to them testing the waters but also yeonjun and txt being super busy this year - after their comeback in april they have been on tour since may and yeonjun has worked on and released a solo ost + ggum + katseye's touch remix literally in-between concerts and a japanese comeback 😭 additionally they have also been preparing for their next comeback (november 4th!!!) and yeonjun has said multiple times that txt and the team comes first before his solo work. we also know that he has been wanting to release a solo song for a long time so im super glad he had the chance to even if that comes without a whole album 🥹 there's 3 episodes of the ggum making film on youtube btw, super interesting!! - also in case you actually read this pd i just wanna take this opportunity to once again request you to watch the concept trailer for minisode 3 🙏🏻 you also haven't seen their most recent idol human theater ep and i think you would really enjoy both of these before we get new comeback content

"This is because Yeonjun is Yeonjun" I COULDN'T HAVE SAID IT BETTER, yj's overwhelming amount of talent and love for everything he does always inspires me!!

I’ll never get sick of hearing Yeonjun praise, especially from you PD as you truly understand how this debut just screams ‘Yeonjun’ - he truly is an absolute star 🌟 At first I was also a bit disappointed that we weren’t getting an album with his solo debut, but it makes sense given how packed TXT’s schedule has been with their April comeback, immediately followed by their tour, their Japanese comeback right in the middle of it all, and they’ve just announced their next comeback will be on November 4th with The Star Chapter: SANCTUARY (they filmed the MV for that on the same day Yeonjun shot M Countdown!) It almost feels like GGUM is acting as a pre-release for TXT’s comeback in a way. Big Hit has experimented with pre-releases for TXT once before (with Do It Like That and Back For More before the Freefall comeback) but it didn’t seem to play out as well as they’d hoped. By the time the comeback dropped, for a variety of reasons, it seemed like a lot of the hype had fizzled out which is a shame because I personally think Freefall is TXT’s best album. The members themselves have admitted they have some regrets about the way that era was handled despite it being their favorite album. That’s why I think the company may have taken a different approach this time by using GGUM as an unofficial pre-release - since it’s not a TXT release, and it explores a sound they haven’t tried before, I feel like it’ll actually help build more anticipation for the group’s comeback. This might also explain why Yeonjun didn’t release a full album as doing so could have potentially overshadowed or distracted from the hype of TXT’s comeback and Yeonjun has always emphasized that his team comes first. With all that in mind, I think Big Hit has done a great job establishing Yeonjun as a soloist, even without an album, by involving him in other solo projects around the release of GGUM: he dropped a solo OST ‘Boyfriend’ just before his solo was announced, and he just featured on the remix of KATSEYE’s Touch (both are definitely worth checking out!) I wouldn’t be surprised if we get a few more solo Yeonjun projects over the next few months almost ‘in place’ of an official album.

My fav camera work is Inkigayo. Well many moa said, he is son of Inkigayo since he was Inkigayo MC (April 2022 - April 2024..ofc he was on hiatus when TXT went on tour), Inkigayo stage set up for GGUM is the best so far. But Inkigayo having the best camerawork, well this is my opinion and they never disappoint me since my day 1 as moa which is Can't You See Me and PUMA stage on Inkigayo up until now.

If you have time i think you'd like to watch the Making Film of Ggum. It's a three part series in their Youtube channel. You can see how he worked on the lyrics while on tour, his meetings talking about the choreography and the music video and how he prepared and recorded everything. You don't even need to post a reaction to it, just watch it if you have the time. It's a nice look into his process as an artist and there's also a glimpse of how much pressure he puts on himself. He's very candid about his doubts and how nervous he was about everything regarding this project and that's very nice to see. About this being a mixtape and not a "proper debut" i think it takes some of the pressure of a full-scale debut and, at the same time, it's a way to make sure he has a hand in all artistic decisions. It's a way of allowing him to show what he's capable of from a safer position in my opinion.

i agree that the inkigayo stage split also hit the hardest!! the two things that made it hit for me was that lower angle, like you mentioned, and that we could actually see all of the lead-up choreography. in all of the other stages, the leg turn that happens immediately prior to the split, the choreo is just out of frame enough

GGUM was a passion project. The intent was always for Yeonjun to show “Yeonjun” and what he can do. It was a project he wanted to do and they squeezed it into TXT’s schedule with their tour/japanese release/ his solo ost and feature right before their next album that comes out in November/encore shows/end of year award shows. He talked online about wanting to just party with MOA for GGUM and that he did 🥰 Normally I love music bank stages the best but Inkigayo was my favorite this time around for both outfit and stage design!
