I knew you would love He Said I Said!!! Can’t wait for the listening parties, I could praise and discuss Loossemble discography for days

Liv

It took me a second to gather my thoughts on the two but I am so obsessed with the songs originally and then seeing the videos made me so elated bc they brought out EXACTLY what I felt from both of them while also highlighting their differences: there’s a sweetness, a passion to Cotton Candy for the melody and their vocal delivery whereas Confessions sounded more dark, colder, a kind of desperate yearning that can turn sorrowful almost sinister just the way Hyunjin sings the chorus there’s something bitter in the topline and the sound mixing makes it hollow with echo — it’s not just a love confession it’s about the SECRETS and a burdensome tarnished love (ie messy exes/bad breakup or just hurt of unrequited love)

Liv

I wholly agree with PD — The story of the MVs also portray the songs in terms of relationship dynamics: in Cotton Candy there’s a positivity at least bc there is a more equivalent dynamic and equal level of interest and passion and in the end the three of them are all together even but Confessions deliberately has Yeojin as an instigator into Hyunjin and Gowons relationship, as opposed to CC being in love at the same time, its a more sinister jealousy bc they do not all choose each other in the end it’s very 1 on 1 dynamics and how Yeojin inserting herself is making it more messy, and like the song is about lyrically, it’s a more selfish love and the lies and darkness that comes from secrets

Liv

Wow I just can’t stop speaking about these BUT typically I’d love the film aesthetic of Confessions more and not so much the color desaturation of Cotton Candy but the story in Cotton Candy is more appealing to me bc it’s more lovely/positive storywise and more joyful even tho both being about desire, its far more intimate and nostalgic looking through home movies vibe vs Confessions that feels through all the aesthetic choices like a 80/90s romantic thriller especially with all the CCTV footage it feels like an expose on the drama vs Cotton Candys romantic love story you’re being let in on — Confessions is colder and evokes loneliness on purpose, but that means more spacious sets like that big parking lot whereas I feel like we are naturally inclined to appeal more to the close up shots and zooms in Cotton Candy which help hide the emptiness/repetitiveness of the diner set while also serving story telling purposes WOW

I'm sure it's lore, but there are also two different timestamps shown on the "home video" footage - one at the beginning and one during the second chorus choreo segment. (one is from 2024, one is from 1993)
