Thanks for doing this! This album is awesome. Favorite songs are Crush and Say Less. I will say for me, Onew also had this breakthrough with his new company as well. May I suggest a review of Onew’s Circle and Flow to see the differences?

Love this and you're right, he's just starting. Favorite is Sayless - it's an earworm for me and I love the lyrics; Deja Vu - each time I listen I hear more or new, like a landscape that shows new or different scenes; Unknown Sea - grabs my heart and sends me.... love this album, love his work and thanks for verbalizing what I felt but couldn't say. Loved your excitement and appreciated your review

I've been playing Deja vu NONSTOP. It's so good, another level. I'm pretty sure he left because SM disagreed to give him a world tour. And also, he wanted to be even more involved composing his songs and having the final say in the lyrics. He now has total control like he wanted. For me this is his best album yet, no doubt. 10 years in his solo career and he is NOW in his prime.

To be fair SM is just trying to prevent a total calamity because a Taemin world tour would usher in the apocalypse

When i listened to this album, i thought about you and how much you would adore this album. It was so fun sharing this experience with you taemin is awesome

Something interesting to note: Taemin said this will be his last commercialized album... probably in a sense that he won't do common Market-Friendly songs anymore as SM made him do.

My thought after hearing this album for the first time was that the songs feel like they are somehow part of him, rather than their own entities. Like... this is true Taemin. It is his best album to me and I think the next one will be even better, since he doesn't want to make commercial albums any more (I'm not entirely sure what he meant by it, but it sure sounds exciting). Also, Deja Vu is his opening song during the current world tour, and I highly recommend watching the performance (there are only fan cams so far)! The choreography is absolutely stunning.

When we get to the bridge of "Sexy in the Air", all I hear is Beyonce....I CAN'T UNHEAR IT

Hello, PD. I just subscribed to see your reaction to this album. I feel like this album is his best yet. Not that his previous songs are not amazing but this album sounded cohesive and just feels like more him. My favorites are in this order: 1) The Unknown Sea - ballads will always have my heart. 2) Deja Vu - as you said it's epic. It sounds so grand and majestic. 3) Say Less - I haven't read the lyrics yet but it feels a bit poignant and sounds so melodic. 4) Sexy in the Air and GOAT. The first cause it's addicting and the latter because it sounds raw and a bit edgy. Really cool. 5) Horizon and Crush - remind me of 80s music, which I love.

This is what happens when you give grand artists like Taemin a true artistic freedom, because while he was in SM every song that he wrote lyrics to was a battle to publish, but you can't contain artists like Taemin under leash forever! Now that he is much more experienced and mature, releasing his artistic vision is the most right thing to do. This album is the best Taemin album yet, and it says alot because Taemin has the strongest discography as soloist out there for me, he puts 1000% in everything he does, but in "Eternal" you could see the actual potential of Taemin and what he was bottling up all those years. I agree with you on the fact that he just started and knowing Taemin he is the only person who can outdo himself, he rised above and beyond kpop since Move and holds that unreachable level for 7+ years now. I'm sure that this album is just a trial version for Taemin to see the reaction of fans and get his confidence as song writer and producer, now that he sees how many people named "Dejavu" and "Say less" as their favourite songs from the album, he will push even harder for that. As for MJ/Prince and Taemin parallel, I believe what these 3 grand artists share undoubtfully is how they become one with the song and the music when they perform, you can feel that music is just running through their veins, it's not just work or profession for them, it's an air and the only way to share their story to the world they can't tell otherwise, and this is what separate them from the rest and make them once-in-generation legends they are. The way I always describe Taemin to people who never heard of him is "Taemin is an ART in motion", and he proves me right with every single performance.
